So-Cal Plumbing & Rooter has been our family's plumber for the last several years. We've had no reason to consider any other service. The services Jose has provided have ranged from toilet swaps and exchanging water heaters to underground pipe repairs. That gets us to today's repair adventure. First, let's rewind a few years back. There was a major leak around our water meter near the street... in unfortunate close proximity to a large, sidewalk-lifting tree. Jose & crew dug under the sidewalk onto the front yard to make certain the leak wasn't widespread and replaced the pipe linking our meter to our house. After replacing the failing pipe, Jose informed that we would eventually want to replace the entire length of water line, from the meter to the house. This was no upsell--just sensible, future looking maintenance. It so happens that very recently I had been hearing water running late at night, even when no one in our house was using it. I recorded the sound and sent it to Jose. He had confirmed my fear: that water had been running--but for how ? We have no way 5. Jose and Nick dropped by later in the morning to check our meter... and, sure enough, the needle was spinning like the millisecond hand of an analog stop watch. After a short, concise conversation about the scope of the repairs, Jose and Nick promptly got to work, digging a trench for the pipe that would reroute our home's main water line. In they are replaced all our water lines under the house with color coated plex including our tankless and installed our main line ball valve cutoff, pressure regulator and Smart Flo by Moen valve. in 3/2024 they replaced the gas line for tankless and dryer 3/4 flex pipe and replaced a damaged galvanized vent pipe with abs for toilet and sink in our guest bathroom and replaced copper for sink. This guy is a flake. Scheduled to come for a repair twice. Each time I had to coordinate with my tenant so they could give access since the tenant has a dog. Each time, without contacting me to say he needed to reschedule he didn't show up. Twice. Over two days. I'm not sure why I kept trying to work with him, other than I'd tried him once in the past. Even then I wasn't impressed by anything in particular that he did. As a small business owner myself I couldn't imagine running my business this way. Honestly, I've been amazed by our experience so far. Alex arrived on time, spent far more time than expected, thoroughly and patiently inspecting, diagnosing, and explaining the problems we've had with our tankless water heater. He gave very reasonable quotes for 3 separate scenarios AND got us up and running, so we're not without hot water until the replacement can be installed. He unlocked the temperature sensor - we'd been told it couldn't go over 120 defrees(F), cut out a (improperly installed) valve that was exacerbating the problems - spending at least an hour carefully going over and through every aspect of the situation. AND he even came back a second time to explain everything a second time for the homeowner...and didn't charge us a dime! Instead of the nightmares we've had before and were expecting again, Alex and his assistant were a God Send. We are definitely going with them again! This company is EXCELLENT! We had hired another plumber to come out a couple of days before, but he couldn't unclog our sewer pipe because of the dense tree roots. The following Monday So-Cal Plumbing came out within 30 minutes and was easily able to get rid of the roots with their hydro-jet machine--something the other company didn't have. We had 3 estimates that same day to repair the cracked clay sewer pipe. Alex from So-Cal Plumbing was the best in terms of service/warranty and also wasn't pushy and he didn't try to overcharge us by doing unnecessary work. We had another company say we would have to rip the whole street up and gave us an estimate for $23k, saying there was no way they could put in a new liner but would have to install a new pipe. Alex assured us that he could put in a new liner without ripping up the street and save us a lot money. They were able to easily line the pipe and went above and beyond by also cleaning up the site and putting some brick back in place that had to be removed.
