It did get a little windy later in the afternoon so I suggest you bring a jacket just in case if it gets chilly. On top of the scenery the service was great as well. The host greeted us and sat us right away. We ordered the wine flight since this is our first time at this vineyard we wanted to try everything. The wine connoisseur was really friendly, did a great job explaining each wine and timed out each pour perfectly. My personal favorite was the Chardonnay. Next time we're visiting the area we'll certainly be back for another wine tasting.

When asked a question he looked confused, and couldn't answer most of our basic questions. It could be Chamisal isn't used to people asking pertinent question about their wines, but the servers should be able to offer basic wine info. Additionally, the service was excruciating slow. It took over an hour for one flight. The wines were decent, but the experience was dampened by the service and lack of education on the wines. Also, there was no incentive for purchasing more than one bottle of wine. The price was the same per bottle regardless. Very unusual.

Even though it was raining, there was plenty of seating for our group. They had heaters and blankets which were perfect. I proposed to my now fiancé here and the staff was extremely helpful (David, Mark, and others). They set us up on the front porch of the schoolhouse looking out to the vineyards. Our group have easily visited 250+ wineries and many of those we visited several times. We easily qualify as experts in the area of wine tasting. Based on our visit to Biddle Ranch as well as reviews I read the venue does not put an emphasis on hospitality. Our server (not educator) was nice but she seems to not care. Not care about selling wine, promoting or educating us about their wine and frankly or likes or dislikes. This behavior was repeated with other customers she was serving that day. If we are having a great time we reciprocate with numerous wine purchases and a generous tip. We only purchased the minimum to wave our tasting fees and could only justify the very minimum of gratuity. I truly hope management reads this post and invests time in better training their employees. We are in the area often and would love to have a spot to sip some wine before dinner. Duncan Alley is an industrial style neighborhood with multiple wineries, a cider place, a cafe and more. We went on a Saturday and there were also food trucks throughout the alley. It almost had a block party vibe. Rhônedonnée is positioned at the corner of the neighborhood along a creek with a back patio that sits privately off of the building. The tasting room is modern, stylish, and comfortable and has a large glass window that looks into the adjacent winery where we could see the winemaking equipment and barrels of wine. During harvest you'd be able to watch the winemaker working with the grapes. More important than any of that are the wines! What I really loved is that you can tell the winemaker is passionate about wine just by the varietals he uses. We didn't have the typical Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that you come to expect in this region (although we love them as well). Winemaker and owner Aaron makes what he loves to drink. I really love to find a beautiful white wine and was so pleased to try both of the Trailside wines- a Roussanne and a Rosé of Grenache. My husband likes red wines, especially Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah, and loved Trail Secret. As a bonus, the labels are beautiful and each have a great story behind them which make them great conversation pieces and gifts. Our host Kiki owns the winery with her husband Aaron and she is very knowledgeable about wines and led us through a beautiful tasting flight. The atmosphere in the tasting room is relaxed and polished. As an educator, I truly appreciated the calm and relaxing environment--it was the perfect place to unwind. The wine was delicious, especially the Rosé, which was my favorite. Kate was extremely knowledgeable and perfect in describing the wines and dialing in our palette profile. The property itself is gorgeous - also, note that they allow dogs. Perfect spot for some sunshine, a breeze, and some incredible tastings. Would I go back? YES!
