This place is a little gem in a super Asian strip mall. The establishment is family run and more authentic then most Korean places. I really enjoyed their cute decorations and stamp collection as well. The only thing is the portions are not huge and the price is a bit above average. My soup cane to 15.99 and though the bowl was a decent size it was filled to just above half and only had four small pieces of beef rib. The fried chicken was really good and worth it. The meat was super juicy and everything tastes fresh The side dishes were good too but there did not seem to be any refills on it. Their potatoes side dish as mentioned by previous posts were delicious and a must have. I would come back here again!

    Best seafood pancake in Calgary!

Best seafood pancake I've had in Alberta! We came here on a whim. I had just picked up my watch that was being repaired. Since we were in the heart of China town, which is in downtown Calgary, we thought we'd try something new. There are lots of authentic looking places in this area. The seafood pancake was full of seafood. Most places in Alberta are frugal with seafood probably because we're land-locked. We also had a sausage noodle stew (I don't remember the Korean name) that was very good. The portions were generous and now we also have dinner.

Food is a bit pricey and the portion is very small. This restaurant is run by the couple so just try to get everything need at the time she come to get your order because she's gonna be in the kitchen helping her husband the whole time.

Bibimbap ( after the egg was poked )

Met some friends over at Soban Korean BBQ. I tried the seafood pancakes and the Bibimbap. Good food and good service !

Beef rib soup. The appetizers were really yummy.

Technically a 4.5 stars, but I am bumping it up because a small family run business deserves that extra half star. I have been here a couple times over the last few years. Besides the courteous service, the food has always been consistently good. I have tried the Bibimbap, Bulgogi and the Beef Rib soup, all above average. Special mention is the various appetizers, particularly the fried potatoes. Watch out they sometimes close up a little bit earlier than 10pm if it's quiet (I would try to be there before 9:30pm for sure).

Kim Chi soup very flavourful and rice is steamed well. Bibimbap was decent. I would recommend.

While visiting Calgary for work, I had a mad hankering for some Korean food. My meetings got out a…read morebit late so I looked up late night Korean food spots and found Namsan... which was a 26 minute walk from my hotel one way. My craving must have been intense because I didn't even think about it and started my long walk there. The layout of the restaurant is interesting. The bathroom is in the basement, the first floor is a bit small but has some tables, and the second floor has most of the dining area space. Interior decoration was pretty minimal but there was kpop playing and it was a bit dark in there so if you're looking to get a few drinks and Korean food with some friends, this would be a great spot. When I was sat at my table and I looked through the menu, the first thing that popped in my head was that they had quite an extensive menu. From army stew, bibimbap, bulgogi, and what I decided to get Dakgalbi (marinated chicken bbq). The Dakgalbi was really good and marinated well. I wasn't expecting the fried rice at the end to come with it like in Korea which was also really good. The only critique I have regarding the food is that there weren't that many side dishes (banchan) and the lettuce on the side was an extra $5. Service was on point. Thu and the woman server, I forgot her name, worked well as a team to make sure everyone was taken care of even though they had to walk up and down those stairs probably 10+ times just when I was there.

Namsam introduced me to Korean food that I've never tried. Coming from San Francisco, I'd thought…read moreI'd tried it all, but apparently I hadn't. The atmosphere reminded me of a place you go to chill after work. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The seafood pajeon was the crispiest pajeon ever. The pajeon that I usually tried is very pancake-like. This is light, airy, and crispy. It was a kind of mix of tempura and pancake-like but not really pancake-like. Naeng Myeon was my very first time trying this dish. With me never having been to Korea, I'm appreciative of this dish. The dish was served with cold ice broth and gochujang sauce, with a slice of pork. This was a satisfying and filling palate cleanser in preparation for the next dish. Dak Galbi Fried Rice was a spicy endeavor for my usual bibimbap order. The egg skirt can be thought of as a wrapper for the savory and spicy flavors. If you like spicy food. This should be your go-to order.

The area is pretty run down looking - but to be fair, most of calgary seemed to look pretty run…read moredown. There's maybe 10-15 parking spaces outside- but when I went most of them were empty. The inside is also rather small, they seat maybe 7 tables each with 2-4 people per table. There's tons of traditional Korean decorations everywhere. The staff is also all Korean and greet you in Korean. There's unlimited high quality purple bean rice. The sides are nothing to write home about other than the macaroni salad. They had an interesting take on it by adding imitation crab - I'm not sure I liked that part. Otherwise it's similar to the chain BCD tofu. The ever popular seafood pajeon (a pancake-like dish) is made extremely thick and therefore isn't crispy at all like pajeon normally is. I don't really recommend this item. Interestingly there's a bulgogi dish with vegetables and noodles (thin, clear). Makes the dish much more hearty. The flavor and quality was pretty good. Seafood tofu soup. They do a great job of making it spicy if you ask. The flavoring has that umami feel. Overall, not overwhelmingly amazing. A bit on the pricey side. They do have a very wide range of menu items and some pretty authentic items that aren't normally regularly provided in Korean restaurants. Service is fine - didn't meet anyone rude or anyone particularly amazing either.

Han Corea - Sides. So delicious. Nokdu Muk mung bean jelly. Sweet chili sauce is amazing on it. Little dried fish and fish cake are good too.
