I was subjected to 2 unlawful, fraudulent, and deceptive business practices by this company today 2/5/26. 1st, they refused to honor a prearranged price for labor-only for the service and denied the $95 trip charge "free service call with repair" coupon on their website that they had offered me in advance on the phone twice and even when the repairman first got here by later on making up some excuse while here that i wasn't getting a repair and of course I was! 2nd they refused to give me an email, a piece of paper, or anything with a bill for services or estimate or invoice saying i had to pay them first and then they would give me something. I refused and made a hand-done invoice/bill with the guy in which he and I wrote it up and then I paid him. Under law no one has to hand over money without a bill of sale or estimate or invoice. I called the office and talked to Joanna Bernal the office manager who refused to do anything about both of the unlawful practices and told me to contact their legal department. While I won't be doing that I will be filing 2 breach of consumer law complaints with the Texas and New Mexico Attorney Generals since its a Texas company doing work here in New Mexico. I will also dispute the fraudulent, un-agreed-to charges with my credit card company. To be reasonable, I am perfectly willing for them to come back and complete the work at the prior-agreed-upon price and I will pay them in full for that at that time. But hey Las Cruces WATCH OUT for the unlawful, fraudulent, and deceptive practices of this SoBellas company I experienced and also complained about by dozens of other people in these reviews- sort by lowest and you'll see! read more

Here's OUR experience with this company. First of all they've been out here many times over the years. I'm not sure why we went with them when we bought this house, but we should have reevaluated that decision long ago. Af far as THIS rodeo that inspired this review: the blower wasn't blowing hot air. AC was working fine, but the blower wasn't moving the air when the heater was on. So we made an appointment. They canceled/rescheduled. Okay. Stuff happens. Then the second appointment they gave a three hour appointment window and arrived right at the end of the window and I could tell the gentleman really just wanted to go home. He kept saying our unit was not in their records and demanding to know who worked on it last. (It was them!!!). He said they needed another person to help with the troubleshooting and the company didn't bother getting someone to come out to see the job through. We had to reschedule. Again. So they gave another three hour window the next week and then called 40 minutes before the window to announce they would be there "in twenty minutes." When no one was home. Because we were observing THEIR window THEY stated and running our daily errands BEFORE they got there. Well, we got home before the originally stated window and they were waiting in the driveway. They did their stuff and then approached me with a giant list of what's suddenly wrong with the unit. Noting, by the way, that our unit IS in their records, afterall, and it's just because of some blah blah blah they couldn't find it. How is that supposed to impress me? They tried to make it sound like my household did something wrong when they just don't keep their own records straight. By the end of this visit there was so much more wrong with the unit than what I called for and they couldn't explain what on Earth would have happened to cause these failures they claimed were there. Why would so many parts go bad at once?? Did they do a bad original installation?? Are they just inflating the problems? The ONLY thing wrong that we called about was that it wasn't blowing air when the heater was on. Now suddenly there is a list over a thousand dollars long just in parts. And they said we needed to order before 1pm "if we wanted the work done before the holidays." This whole experience has soured my opinion of this company. Their standard practice is to cheap out sending insufficient technicians to troubleshoot, place the time-burden for this practice on the customer, and then overcharge for literally everything. Now they want their payment for showing up and troubleshooting but they have failed to send the email they promised showing all their findings and the parts they say they need. They just want money and I think they're too used to compliant homeowners who don't know there is better out there. Especially for these prices. Poor showing, I must say. Water pump failed 7 weeks after they installed a new swamp cooler. Failed on Saturday night. They were closed. They provide NO AFTER HOURS SUPPORT! Left a voice mail and sent them an urgent email. No responses. By Sunday afternoon it hit 97 degrees in my father's home. He's 87. Called Kings Aire to fix the unit. Yet, Sobellas refused to cover the cost for the water pump. It appeared that our washing machine was leaking several days after we washed a load of clothes. I contacted Sobellas and Joe A came out several times and couldn't find the leak. So he sent Julian R out as a second set of eyes. Julian quickly ascertained that the leak was coming from behind the wall where the water softener was located. It turns out that rats had chewed through the drain lines, resulting in the leak. Julian put new drain lines in place and suggested that we keep an eye on it. A whole week without AC, telling me it would arrive Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Thursday. Oh then I was the last customer on a Friday at 5pm. After house being 98deg for over a week. I RECOMMEND NOT TO USE THEM! CHECK NEXTDOOR FOR OTHER A/C RECOMMENDATIONS. THEIR VERY GOOD AT PARTING YOU WITH YOUR MONEY AT A HIGH COST. BY SELLING YOU THE MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT THEY'LL COME OUT FREE BUT THEN CHARGE YOU WAY OVER THE COST SHOULD BE CHARGED BY OTHER COMPANIES. Their very professional and nice. They give invoices and send e-mails to remind you of your appt. time. Don't you just love that? They'll sell you a year long maintenance agreement. They'll keep putting a bandaid on the problem instead of fixing the problem. I've had them out here 3 times in Talavera area NM. We had a leak in our AC system. The 'Nice' Techs and 'Nice' Juan in Customer Care will tell you that refrigerant is expensive. That this temporary fix might last the summer. And if you start replacing parts it will be super expensive. But instead their strategy is if they had to come back out they'll use stop leak to see if that works, and after that If they have to come back out again they'll charge even more money to trace down the leak. SoBellas knows none of this would fix the problem! It's just a way to keep charging you money. Luckily we hired another company that showed us the actual problem from the beginning and resolved the problem from the very beginning. Two visits. DONE! Turns out we remembered we had a home warranty after buying the house 9 months earlier. We had the insurance company's AC people come out. They charged you what? the tech asked. We had spent a lot of money with Sobella's and the problem was never fixed. Especially the last visit. That's when we started thinking of options. My advice: never get yourself locked in with one company with a contract. They'll take advantage of you. When it's triple digits for 60 days a smooth talker could probably have sold ice to Eskimos. We just had moved into the house and we're dealing with multiple issues. Their last visit we paid $600 for Freon and stop leak. The guy was here less than 15 mins! He was very nice & courteous. DON'T LET THAT FOOL YOU! DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN TO YOU! That's not the first time they put Freon in the system. The point is this insurance linked AC company came out and took pictures of oil stains all around our compressor. OLD STAINS! They'd been there awhile. The evidence of the problem was obvious to the second company. No amount of stop leak fluid would have fixed our problem. WE HAD BEEN MISLED. WE HAD BEEN OVERCHARGED. At that point we knew we had fell into a trap. We contacted the company to give them a chance to make it right. They said they would come out and look for the leak! LOL. After I sent them the pictures of the obvious leaks. The Owner, Mike, will put up excuses and explanations. He'll try to convince you the 2nd company was in it for the insurance money by replacing big parts. I never talked with Mike, the owner. He never gave me the time. All the pictures, invoices, and e-mails I sent them he would e-mail me back with his best offer of continuing to look for leaks. He completely ignored any evidence of wrongdoing by his company. He just wanted to continue business at usual. HE NEVER MADE IT RIGHT! Then he had the nice guy in Customer Care tell me that there was nothing that they would do. Your up a creek. Your out of the money and your AC still does not work in record breaking heat! All along the problem was the condenser coil. Never did the techs from SoBellas show us pics of the stains or tell us of where the obvious leak was coming from the roof unit. We asked them directly if anything was wrong with the roof unit. They would say no. BOTH OF THEM TOLD US THE ROOF UNIT LOOKED FINE. They kept telling us the problem was with the evaporative coil in the unit in the garage. Over and over again!! WE ARE JUST FURIOUS!! We are also mad at ourselves for getting took. I've seen this nice behavior-the bait-selling a contract-and feeling like all your problems were resolved! I bet that approach goes over well with elderly folk in Las Cruces, like 'rich' folk in the Talavera area. Probably the same in Mesilla and Picacho Hills, and in the village of Mesilla and the area of Las Alturas. Ugh. MAKES YOU WANT TO SCREAM! BEWARE!! We just installed a new refrigerated air/heating unit and UV system, and our experience from the time of purchase through the installation process was phenomenal! The work included vacuuming of the vents and omission of viruses and mold. The team (Joaquin, Juan, David, Gamboa, Sergio, and Ariel) are experts in their field and are very professional! The work was completed on a severely windy day in 5 hours. The company also provides a program that includes preparing units for the summer and the winter. The monthly payment is reasonable and includes transportation for service calls placed. This is the 2nd time I have used this company to repair my HVAC. I called them a few months ago to come out and diagnose my AC unit, which was blowing air, but no AC. I needed my "relay" replaced. Their technician (Carlos) told me that my unit was old, and he wasn't sure he could find the part. He dragged out the process of finding a part through his supply line, then finally found it locally. I was told several times that my unit was so old (1975) and that I needed a new one and I should really consider it. I declined and had them install the relay. I called them a 2nd time last week due to my heater not turning on. They came out and discovered I needed another part, and again I was told that I needed a new HVAC system because parts were hard to find. I was reminded numerous times throughout the service call of how old my HVAC was. Carlos informed me the HVACs were going up 20% in price soon so I should lock in now for a good price ($10,000.00). I told him no, just find me the part. I paid my service call fee, and he said he'd call me later to let me know what he discovered. At the end of the business day, he called back and said he checked locally and specifically with Johnstone Supply, and they don't have the part, and he couldn't do anything for me except install a new HVAC, ... because it's "so old." He said he'd send me an email with the name and part number if I wanted to look for it. He never did send me an email, but I remembered the part number he had given me verbally. Within 10 minutes, I immediately made a call and discovered that Johnstone had the original part which they buy in bulk. The number that Carlos had given me was the wrong part number. I had the part within a few hours and had it installed. My heater works great! I do not appreciate games like this, and I HIGHLY do NOT recommend this company. To the public, don't be pressured into purchasing a new HVAC system if you don't need it. The older units are more reliable as long as you take care of them and replace them with quality parts as they fail. The newer units with their electronic circuit boards will fail in about ten years. read more

The part itself doesn't cost that much. What a rip off . They mislead you by saying that they will fix it for you then the technician gets here and says no sorry we have to order it and I'll come back sometime next week. We were having the roofing done around the same time and SoBellas coordinated with Legacy Construction to ensure the conversion would be the best possible. When they installed the new unit on the roof, they located on a different part of the roof, making it no longer visible from the street. We couldn't have been more pleased with the work done. a follow up to previous review and companies response regarding our swamp cooler maintenance contracts with them. we approved any repair or part replacement they recommended. when you sign up for a year maintenence contract with them which is two service calls, they must be a spring and fall call. We had a death in family so my manager took care of fall maintenance. they would not let me continue in the following spring for second service call so had to wait for fall to finish contract with them. They had eyes on our equipment for 2 1/2 years and didn't see dripping swamp cooler damaging property wall. I am including condition of swamp cooler AFTER they 'serviced' it last spring. you can't even tell they did maintained them. I would never have them out again. They did t even come out and do the job correctly. How can they be be highly rated with the BBB? read more

My elderly mother needed her Swamp Cooler fixed and I figured we could use Sobellas since I was working in Austin. I sent her the money and I thought the work would be reasonable. The technician called to schedule the work and said he was running late. I was ok with it but he never showed up for the work. I called him several times yet he never answered or responded back after that day. I ended up flying in from Austin to fix the swamp cooler. And when Sobella called me to charge for the work, I informed them of what happened. I ended up having to talk with several managers until they told me the charge would be forgotten. Almost 6 months later, my mother gets a letter that they are still charging her for the trip. And threatening her to take further action against her and possibly her home. Seriously? Against an 85 year old? So I called and I was irate because the lady told me that they have GPS info of the technician showing up and that the charge still stands. Again, seriously? He didn't service the unit and my mother was there all day. I will never use Sobellas again and I will definitely now make sure that everyone I know hears about the horrible experience we had and continue to have with work not being done along with some of the worst customer service ever possible from a company.
