This morning I went with 17 bags of recycling, mostly plastic bottles. 3 of my bags had a few aluminum cans mixed in. I've done this many times and never had a problem, but today was different! Suddenly, they decided to enforce the rule about items being sorted, although they never have in the past. I've been there on a Saturday morning, with a line of cars waiting out in the street, and watched people sort whole trash cans of items and nobody said a word to them. But today, which wasn't crowded at all and there were empty spots to pull in, my few cans mixed in became a huge problem, so that the workers had to come over and chatise me 4 times. It's not like my recycling was all unsorted! There were just a few cans mixed into a couple of bags, out of 17! There I was, a 60 yr. old woman, unloading my bags quickly, while 4 young workers stood and watched me empty every bag. Not once did they offer to help! You would of thought they could have provided good customer service to a VIP customer and just explained that the sorting policy is now being enforced, and asked that I make sure to do it on my next visit, which I would have gladly done. They could have even provided excellent customer service by helping me out, instead of standing around watching me, just waiting to pounce! I guess being a VIP customer at Cans Plus Recycling doesn't mean that you'll be treated well!

There was no line when I went on a random week day, so I was helped very quickly. The only thing that I would make a comment on was that there was parking in the front of the building, but you would need to walk to the warehouse entrance on the right side to off-load and separate recyclables. I wish that there was a car off-loading zone, so you don't need to push a large plastic bin to your car and back for the weighing. Their rates for recycling was fair and up to county standard. The owner and the employees are extremely helpful and polite...they're just good people. I've been recycling with them for the last few years, and recently, I contacted them to see if they would let me bring a bunch of kindergarteners for a tour to learn about recycling. Not only did they say yes, but they stayed after closing and allowed us to tour their facility after hours! The showed us their entire operation and even showed us how they crush and bale the aluminum cans so they can be transported for the next step in the recycling process. I can't brag them up enough. I arrived a little after 3:45 PM before closing, but was denied service. If the actual cutoff time is earlier than what's posted, it would be helpful and more respectful to customers' time to clearly state that. A notice indicating a 3:45 PM cutoff would help avoid confusion and unnecessary trips. (I went to two different Sunset Recycling down that were down the street from each other and I was denied at both of them)
