First things first...make sure your recyclables are sorted prior to coming. This is my closest recycling business in Lake Elsinore, from Sycamore Creek, worth the drive, very organized. Have patience when coming here, you will most likely be in line waiting for a spot. When you do get a spot, secure your containers and transfer your cans and bottles separately....then stand in line to be weighed in, then go to the counter to get your receipt, they give you a "club card" to get a better price per pound. I think it's funny how many 1 star reviews there are because they weren't allowed to sort cans at the facility. There are a ton of huge signs all over when you pull in saying you can't sort there. I came here for the first time last week to recycle some cans, bottles and glass. Since I have never recycled I had some cans (like dog food and green bean cans) that I guess they don't accept. I could tell the worker was annoyed that he had to take those out but he wasn't rude to us, and when you have people all day not following your rules I understand why he would be frustrated. Just make sure the stuff you are recycling is actually eligible for recycling and pre sort your cans and you won't have an issue here. read more

I WAS TREATED LIKE TRASH AT CANS PLUS RECYCLING! I've been a VIP customer for over 10 years, and usually go once a month, always a Saturday morning. This morning I went with 17 bags of recycling, mostly plastic bottles. 3 of my bags had a few aluminum cans mixed in. I've done this many times and never had a problem, but today was different! Suddenly, they decided to enforce the rule about items being sorted, although they never have in the past. I've been there on a Saturday morning, with a line of cars waiting out in the street, and watched people sort whole trash cans of items and nobody said a word to them. But today, which wasn't crowded at all and there were empty spots to pull in, my few cans mixed in became a huge problem, so that the workers had to come over and chatise me 4 times. It's not like my recycling was all unsorted! There were just a few cans mixed into a couple of bags, out of 17! There I was, a 60 yr. old woman, unloading my bags quickly, while 4 young workers stood and watched me empty every bag. Not once did they offer to help! You would of thought they could have provided good customer service to a VIP customer and just explained that the sorting policy is now being enforced, and asked that I make sure to do it on my next visit, which I would have gladly done. They could have even provided excellent customer service by helping me out, instead of standing around watching me, just waiting to pounce! I guess being a VIP customer at Cans Plus Recycling doesn't mean that you'll be treated well! read more

We had a ton of moving boxes and large product boxes to get rid of. I messaged them via Yelp if the accept cardboard boxes and they responded quickly saying yes! We were so relieved because our whole garage was filled with them after moving and didn't know what to do with all of them. We flattened all the boxes down, threw em in my truck, drove over and as soon as we parked, some guy forklifted a dumpster bin right up to my truck and we were able to just toss them all in and leave. It was super easy and quick, even though they were super busy! Highly recommend. :) read more

This is a strange place. There are a lot of signs with many rules. The staff there is rude and it feels like a communist camp. I had one of the workers tell me I couldn't sort out my cans on their premise because during the Covid quarantine 1 person took too long to sort out there recyclables. read more

So I guess I am not the only one who has experienced the rude recyclers. I do think it would be warranted for a "weights and measures audit" by the State of California. The employee thinks it is okay to obstruct the scale reader with a big TIPS bucket. When I asked where is the weight read for my scrap, he copped a major attitude. He even tried to use excuses as to why it is obstructed from view. I took my scrap copper elsewhere, and will do so on all other scrap copper, bottles, cans, gold, diamonds etc !!! Really Rob, no one was even recycling when I came to recycle, I admit not all my recycling was separated, I had a few strays mixed in with each other and I mentioned I would make sure next time I came, it would be completely separated, however you continued to harass me while I was just trying to get in and out since no customers were there and I wasn't holding anyone up, learn some customer service skills. I am new to the area but have been recycling for awhile, so I know a more or less idea of what I should get for what I take, I empty my separated bags into their bins and they get processed and I was sent to window to collect my money. I at first didn't think much about what I received but than reviewed the receipt and noticed I didn't get credit for plastics!! I went back n told the girl at window and she said rudely there was nothing she could do since I signed for money. I just asked to speak to manager to resolve issue and they checked the cameras and realized their error and paid me the $17 difference. The Assistant Manger, Rob, has the worst attitude and worst customer service ever. He was very unprofessional and rude to me when I came into recycle my bottles. I understand that you're not allowed to sort your bottles out but he could've approached the situation a bit better. He was belittling me by telling me to open my eyes and see the sign on the gate. Then, proceeded to ignore me when I asked why that was part of their company policy. Clearly, he didn't have an answer and doesn't know how to do his job right. If I was the manager at this establishment, I would look for a better employee that will not disrespect customers. read more

Place is a rip off, their containers say 20lbs on the outside. Guys at window says I have 40 lbs not 41 lbs. My cans with containers weigh 71.20 lbs. Price per lb says $1.70 per lb. I'm no mathematician but 41 lbs at $1.70 a lb is $69.70 and I get $53.04???? Never coming back to this rip off joint again!! read more

Horrible. Wouldn't ever come here again. I understand why they don't allow sorting in parking lot because of how busy it can get. I just came here today there was no line and nobody except me in the parking area and I had one bag full of plastic bottles and cans. This guy who works there comes up to me and says do you see the signs it says we don't allow sorting in the parking lot! He came up extremely rude on his power trip just so he could say it when half the guys didn't have anything to do and i heard another employee say where are all of the people? Whoa! This place is always packed with people! Theres always a line of cars. It is best to go early or mid day. The staff there is friendly and helpful, although be patient they are always busy. I really like how they have everything oraganized from the cars waiting to pull in, offloading, lining up to weigh the cans, and receiving the money. I'm super happy to have found Cans Plus. It's nice that we have them here in our little town. I've been going there for a couple of years so I do have one of their VIP cards. The card made it easier. Show it one time They verified me and so now with the VIP card I'm go to go. The folks that work there are pleasant & helpful. It's a busy place with lots of customers. They help me get my bins. They help me take my bins to the line up area and they are ready to answer my questions on how best to turn in my items. Just ask they will help you. I much prefer this business then those type where you stand around and wait for single feed machines. This place is busy. So sometimes you do have to wait and there maybe lines. That's just a matter of being patient. Show up early and organized and they will help get you on your way quickly. That's my experience. I'm glad their here in our town. Thanks CANS PLUS! It's really not unreasonable for them to ask that you actually be ready instead of holding up everybody else that's trying to get in while you sort your stuff one at a time. Super long wait on a Saturday afternoon. Waited an hour just to get a parking spot. Then unloaded the cabs and bottles and stood in line. The line to cash out was long and we had to stand in the sun and heat. Not pleasant at all if you ask me. But pretty much the typical experience when you go to a recycling place. This place is just very crowded. There's any other recycling center down the street that is way less crowded (the one next to stater brothers) but the guy running that one was out of ink for the printer so he couldn't give receipts. So I came here instead and wasted a bunch of time. Overall though this place seemed okay if you don't mind waiting in your car for awhile and then standing in line. read more

My sister and I came here today for our first time! Joe was very helpful, sweet, and funny. Make sure you separate your glass, cans, and plastics. Tip: those big orange juice/Arizona tea gallon bottles are not able to be turned for a deposit. Bring disposable gloves and wear your mask! You will also need your ID if it's your first time there. They will then give you a member card and you won't have to bring your ID again. Next time I recycle I will come back here. Also, get there early if you don't wanna wait in your car. read more

This place deserves zero stars. Read the google and Yelp reviews before you go here. They refused to count my containers piece by piece with a small amount and just dumped them in with the similar items and weighed them vs. counting like they are supposed to do per the CA recycling rules. The employees are rude and harassing, not one but all of them. Including the owner, who was yelling and threatening and had the same rude, poor attitude like the other employees. This place has the worst customer service. As a last note, this place sells items you drop off it they are not cans/bottles but there is no sign saying items are for sale and the employees clearly stated this was "trash" not "for sale". I don't believe a recycling place is supposed to be a seller of used consumer goods that are not recycled materials. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would,this company is full of LIARS and CHEETERS.Last time I took bottles in to be recycled to a different recycling center I had a little more than half the amount that I brought in today of glass bottles, cans and various plastic bottles(I always come with them organized and separated in there correct groups). I received only $134 vs. the other recycling center where I received $170(for a little more than half of what I got today).. This place RIPPED me off and I WARN anyone else DO NOT COME HERE..Also FYI there is a new law that if u have over 100lbs of plastic they will sending u packed by with all your bottles that u have removed from the bags..And the will rudely let u know this multiple times of u are even close...I am going to file a complaint. Zero stars would be more appropriate. This place is run by clowns and staffed by fools. As a long time customer who had never had a problem - today proved they are not capable of reasoned thought and will never earn my business again. As always, I arrived 2 hours before opening with a truckload of cans and bottles. This is always necessary to obtain any decent spot in the enormous line, I was not even the first person there. I waited 2 hours to be told to simply leave because my bottles and cans were not pre-sorted...something that has always been done at their facility by all of their customers. There are no signs to tell you this, it is not (as of the writing of this review) on their website. Nor is it detailed in their phone message system. Not to mention workers who were there getting ready could have simply asked each vehicle if their stuff was sorted. And if it wasn't I could've easily sorted it in my truck bed with during the aforementioned 2 hour wait period. I was not offered any alternative, simply told to leave. When I called the manager, who again is a total clown, offered no solution or alternative. He lied through his teeth claiming that he has "called all of his customers to tell them to pre-sort the materials". As a long-time customer with a membership card to this business I was never contacted or informed in any way - and once again it is not posted anywhere (as of the writing of this review) for public notice. I do not expect a red-carpet treatment at a recycling center. I do not expect anything more than a place to turn in my recycling to get my CRV deposits back - a mutual business arrangement where both the customer and business make some money - and this place couldn't even bother to take a few minutes to help someone who waited 2 hours to patronize their business. Instead they decided to turn me away and offer zero solutions to a problem they created under the hilariously misguided blanket excuse that seems to be so popular these days - claiming that it is for their safety (this is so far from the mark its ridiculous - sorting cans and bottles on my own 20+ feet from these people is of zero safety concern). And thus ends the story of why I will never, nor should anyone, bring these people business again. read more

If i could give this place negative stars I would! Today we stopped by because we were cleaning our backyard and decided to sell our recycling. Upon pulling in, the workers started harassing my husband saying that his truck was too big. He was forced to move his truck and "back it up" so other cars can fit, well he moved it and did nothing given that the spaces are almost for compact cars and any sized truck is difficult to fit perfectly. Secondly, most of our cans were sorted as per the sign except for one box. My husband was sorting through it while I waited for a container given that they didnt have any more containers and my husband figured that if he was waiting might as well sort that last box. Well the lady there didnt seem to agree and was very rude and basically almost kicked us out eventhough other people were doing the same thing. To top it off she refused to let us finish unloading the already presorted recycling because she had a stick so far up her a** it was coming out of her eyes. On top of that, we ended up getting shorted on the monies because they didnt like that we tried to stand our ground. Joke of a place with poor customer service. Im sorry you have to work here and trip on the little "power" that you get. If you dont like where you work then look for something else. Good place to go. From start to finish took maybe about 20 minutes, and I arrived there about 12:30pm. The only issue was the idiot in the BMW who thought he was extra special and deserved to cut around me. Pretty sure he worked there, as he didn't pull into any of the spots designated for people with recycling. Sorry bud, not my fault they blocked the driveway by backing in a huge roll off container! Dropping off two small pieces of light metal today. Did not even want money. Idiot that works here told me I needed to back my truck in to hand him 2 pieces of metal. He claimed I was blocking the road though there was room for 2.5 semi trucks to drive through. He was standing there and refused to take the metal. If I had a truck load I would have backed in. I really love to recycle my cans, bottles, and anything I can. This place makes it so easy for you. All you have to do is bring your stuff in, better if you have it sorted out already, with bottle tops off, and off they go with measuring it by the pound and you get a slip, and out you go with your cash in hand!! Friendly, efficient staff to help you unload and weigh in. Make sure you obtain one of their customer loyalty cards if the weigh master dos not give one to you. The card entitles you to a higher return rate per pound on aluminum cans. I just wished they recycled paper and cardboard. read more
