Long wait times. First time 1 1/2 hours. Second time (yes I went a 2nd time) 2 hours I waited in a very warm waiting room. The excuse both times was a computer glitch. I do like the doctors but it comes a time when the wait times become unreasonable. In response to 1 reviewer who state that that's a sign of a good doctor I must say bull. Maybe GETTING an appt is a sign of a good doctor but an office who treats its patients with such disregard is unconscionable and definitely NOT a sign of good medical care. I took my father here to evaluate a cataract in his eye with the intention of having it removed. My father has alzheimer's and is hard of hearing. After a 2 hour wait [ we had an appointment ] we finally were seen by the doctor - only to have him belittle my father and talk to him like he was dirt. Even the nurse/assistant recognized how awful the doctor was to my dad, she tried to help but it didn't matter. If you're elderly or are taking an elderly person here... do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

This review is only for the office waiting time. I took my mother in for a routine eye exam, and we waited over an hour just to have her called in. There were also many other patients there who had been waiting well over an hour, and it wasn't just for one doctor. I don't know if they overscheduled, or had some other issue, and I hope it was a one time thing, but by the time we were done, we had spent over THREE HOURS in that office AND my mother didn't even get to pick out new glasses frames because it was past closing time by the time her exam was done, so she has to come BACK to get frames. I sure hope it's not another 3 hour wait. One bonus though: I got to watch both most of Milo and Otis AND the entire Princess Diaries while waiting for her. ::eye roll:: read more

I was very very nervous about eye surgery. I was referred to SoCal Eye and was lucky enough to be scheduled to see Dr Ted. He is a jewel. Spent time answering my questions and my boyfriend's questions too. Dr. Ted is soft spoken and puts you right at ease. When I went in to have the surgery, the girls and the anesthesiologist were very professional and yet took personal interest in me and kept me laughing through my fright and nerves. My surgery experience with Dr. Ted and his staff was great. If I had to do it again, I would do it in a heartbeat. I went to see Dr.Nhu as a new patient last week . I have never seen this doctor , and I was referred to her by close friends ,so I decided to see her . 3 weeks before my appointment I made sure to personally fax over my medical records from a previous eye doctor regarding my eye condition . And I also sent an medical release form so they could reach out to my eye doctor to try to get a pathology report that I was unable to get . I did this 3 weeks before my appointment, I was trying to get everything ready so by the time Dr.Nhu sees me , she will be ready with all my information . My appointment time was 3:20 . I got in 10 minutes early to make sure I have enough time to fill out the new patient information . They didn't call me up till 3:50. (I was a little irritated). This lady called me up (she was nice btw) and when I got to a room I asked her if she received the information I faxed over three weeks ago . She stated she didn't have anything so she called the front office and asked . And of course they "didn't receive it" . So I had to have someone come drop a copy to the office ! And then I asked again regarding the medical records Auth , and they told me they weren't able to receive my pathology report . I was irritated because I sent the request 3 weeks ago ! And they wait tell me the day of my appointment to tell me this ! ? So she tried to call again to receive my pathology report and asks for my SSN. So I gave it to her . And when she tells the lady on the phone my SSN. She was saying it out loud ! Like lady ! Could you say it any louder so the people in the waiting room could hear ?! I didn't see Dr.nhu until 5:47pm! And when she came in the room , she looked like she was in a rush ! When I tried to talk she would speak over me . So it was uncomfortable to be able to talk about my condition . I only saw her for 10minutes ! I will not be coming here again . And will be looking for a new ophthalmologist . I gave her 2 stars because she gave me samples for eye drops . read more

My primary care physician referred me to Dr. Hartman for cataracts in both eyes. I can't say enough about the caring professional staff. Dr. Hartman explained the entire procedure, everything so I could understand it. My right eye was done 2 weeks ago and my vision in that eye is perfect... no glasses necessary... first time in 55 years I have not needed glasses. My left eye will be done in a week and I can't wait. Very nervous the first time however, so looking forward to it now. Not even a bruise from the iv... so impressed. I've been going here since 2011 after a referral from my OD. I had subcapsular cataracts in both eyes that required surgery and RK. Dr. Nhu did my cataract surgery and Dr. Carl did my RK. They explained everything well and I was very comfortable with them. I thank them for renewing my vision! I consider Dr. Clay to be my primary physician - she's very kind and explains everything. The only issue I have is they need to adjust their scheduling process as I always have to wait even with a morning appointment. It's worth it, but I wish they'd work on it. read more

Had an exceptional experience with So Cal Eye. The initial tech was very thorough and helpful. He sought additional help from the optometrist as my eye exam results were off. The optometrist spent quite a bit of time checking various aspects of my vision and was so nice and informative. Dr Sharif, So Cal Eyes newest ophthalmologist was terrific. He examined my eyes and addressed the reason my vision exams varied so much, and how to improve my condition. I have been going to So Cal Eye for quite a few years but usually do not request a specific doctor. I will definitely be requesting Dr Sharif for all my future exams. read more

I had laser eye surgery about ten years with Dr. Hartman. I had good results and could see the next day. The surgery was absolutely life changing and I had horrible vision and the thickest glasses. I needed cataracts removed, but was very concerned and actually somewhat fearful about having the surgeries UNTIL I met Dr. Clay of So Cal Eye. She explained that I could wait...but there was no advantage in waiting! Never was there any pressure put on me. My first cataract was removed in Dec.,2018. The 2nd one in March, 2019. Person-Centered Care describes my experience with SOCAL Eye Physicians for my first cataract surgery. Both offices were responsive in getting back to me. The communications were concise and clear, as were follow-up appointments and procedure reminders. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and knowledgeable in explaining the purpose of the tests and results. Dr. Carl Hartman was great in spending time to explain the procedure and address any concerns I had. I also enjoyed his humor in trying to put me at ease, both before and during the short surgery. His follow-up was very appreciated and took me by surprise when he called the following Saturday to see how I was doing and answer any questions. The day of surgery was stressful, but the team in the Lakewood office did a wonderful job relaxing me both prior and post surgery. I found them exceptional at easing my nervousness and apprehension. The maximum wait time for a scheduled appointment was about 30 minutes. However, because they are so thorough in their testing and explaining the procedures, the extra wait is well worth it. If he hadn't gone to USC, he'd be almost perfect. Also, he's a nice guy and has zero ego. Pam, who preformed my eye exam, was also exceptional and very friendly. Waiting? Yeah, you're going to wait a bit. But I'm thinking I don't want to go to a doctor for whom there is no demand; and I don't liked feeling rushed when I'm being examined. Couple weeks ago I got Lasik eye surgery after wearing glasses since I was in the 4th grade and having a really high prescription. I did a consult with the nice beautiful woman Debbie. She was very informative and helped me with the whole process of the surgery. The doctor who did my surgery was Dr Clay and she is super sweet and I'm super glad she was taking to me the whole time during the surgery making sure I didn't go into panic attack. I just had two cataract surgeries six weeks apart both performed by Dr. Larry Pasquali. Both procedures were painless. Always a good thing when having surgeries. I never waited more than 10 minutes for my appointments. All of the people who work with Dr. Paquali couldn't have been nicer or more professional. During the pre op appointment my eyes were examined and Dr. Pasquali explained my options. I could choose regular lenses or there are special lenses that cost $1700 and are not covered by insurance. He said in my case I have macular degeneration so the regular lenses would be fine for me. He then explained the procedure for the surgery in depth and answered my questions. One of the assistants mentioned that Dr. Pasquali has a very nice "bedside manner" and indeed he does. The main pre op instruction was no food or drink after midnight the night before the surgery. The day of the surgery I was seen almost immediately and they started the drops to numb my eye in the surgery waiting room. Then they took me to the second room checked my blood pressure and inserted an IV so the anesthesiologist could give me calming medication. The first surgery I remember nothing. The second surgery I remember everything. Dr. Pasquali explained everything he was doing. I rested for a few minutes after the surgery then went back to the second room where they gave me juice and crackers and I was done. I had a plastic shield over my eye that was removed the following day and only worn at night for the following week. There are also drops I put in 4 times a day. read more

Go anywhere else !!! Dr clay is great did a surgery on my eye. Dr Nhu did follow up both very good. However, that being said this place is the worst run, from a client perspective! I've had 4 appoints so far. With the exception of my first appointment they have never seen me in less than an hour after my appointment time! Today was. 10am and the Dr saw me at 11:24! Absolutely unacceptable. Best yet I have another visit in 2wk and I asked for an appointment they could keep and the staff response ? "I can't do that" nice service. I asked for the first or second appointment of the morning and the response "we'll, she might be late!" What!!!!! Does she call because then I will leave "sometimes she calls but you could been waiting an hour and by then she's only a few minutes out !! Summary, old people. Clinic mentality!! If they don't care, neither do I; hence posting this while I still have 4 post OP visits to go. read more

Went to check my 8 year old's glasses prescription we had received from an optometrists office a week before because we wanted a medical doctors opinion.. we waited 5 hours for the doc to tell us the optometrist was spot on!! Staff kept asking us if we were going to keep visiting this office or not - we are still shopping for one thanks to this office. If you want to get strong-armed into being a loyal customer or wait forever for poor service this is your kind of office. Loyalty for our family is based on quality care and efficiency, were definitely disputing this with our insurance company. read more
