Our family has been coming to see Dr. Nhu since the kids were small. They're both in high school now and we wouldn't trust any other clinic for our eye needs, even driving 45 minutes each way without hesitation. Dr. Nhu is very thorough with her exams and takes time to explain her findings in detail and answer our questions. She's always spot on with her recommendations as well, especially when it comes to my elderly mother. She's had cataract surgery with Dr. Nhu and is ecstatic with her results. Dr. Nhu is a very caring and compassionate doctor, and equally importantly, she certainly knows her stuff! You'll be in great hands with her. We've also been seeing Dr. Bovey, the optometrist there. The kids love doing their eye checkups with him because he's funny and engaging and also really good at his craft. My mom had a 10:45 appointment to check one eye. It took 2 hours before they saw her and another 1/2 hour before she was done ! I am disturbed as to how they treat senior citizens . They over book deliberately & treat them like trash. Do not come here. This is not the first time this has happened to her. We will be filing a complaint & look forward to finding drs who won't discriminate & take advantage of seniors ! This was not eye surgery this was a simple one eye follow up ! read more

I recently had a visit with Dr Nhu to see if she could figure out why my left eye had pressure. After a very intense exam with her assistants we found no surgery was needed I just have dry eye. I have never had such an intense exam, I felt everything was covered pertaining to my eyes, questions were answered, the staff exceptionally helpful, nothing was rushed, when I was finished about 1 1/2 hours later it was a relief knowing what I have can be treated and no surgery was needed. When I make an appointment - I shift and adjust other activities to accommodate my appointment. I also tend to come in up to 30 minutes early but I don't expect anyone else to do this. Dr. Kate Xie has run an hour late more for all three appointments I had with her. Appointment times don't seem to matter here. She seems to be very competent and I can't complain at all about her work. I just can't spare an entire AM or PM to see her. read more

BEST DOCTOR! My husband found this eye care facility online and sent me the info when I was looking to get Lasik done. I ended up getting PRK, which is similar to Lasik based on my results from my tests. Debbie is wonderful. Her and the office staff are incredibly kind, personable, and work with you regarding scheduling and your needs. Such a fantastic team. Dr. Carl is a real human, not a robot like most doctors who just wanna push you out the door and speak to who's next. He really takes the time to speak to you, hear your concerns, answer your questions, and provide facts and refer to relevant case studies to help educate you. I did one eye at a time. After my first eye was done (on a Friday) Dr. Carl answered my call on a weekend where he was on a trip to ensure I was feeling okay, if I had any questions, and to ease my mind since I had questions regarding recovery over the weekend. WHAT A GREAT DOCTOR!!! The team helped me out with contact lenses before my surgery since I ran out. They guide you through the care of your eyes and when your all done you get to throw your glasses into a container that donates your frames to the Lyon's Club! In December 2022 I was diagnosed with cataract on my left eye by Dr. Nhu. Shortly after I scheduled for a monovision lens trial because I had chosen to have monovision lenses installed when the surgery was performed. On Jan 16th. I had an appointment to start the monovision trial. My appointment was with Dr. Kwok, an Optometrist. Dr. Kwok told me that I was ineligible for monovision trials because I didn't know how to install and remove artificial lenses and also that I needed glasses anyway and therefore monovision was not available to me. He was very unprofessional and misleading, extremely uncooperative. He told me that cataract surgery was risky and that I shouldn't have it done. It is my opinion that this Dr. has no empathy for his patients, lacks experience and cares only about himself and not his patients. Please stay away from this Dr. read more

If one could ever have a delightful experience at a doctor's office, it is at SoCal Eye. From Dr. Hartman to Dr. Bovy to the front desk staff and technicians, I find everyone to be not only competent in their respective field of expertise, but also very pleasant as well. When checking in at the front desk, you are greeted with a "Hello" and a smile. Dr. Hartman is a genuinely nice guy who explains what he sees from his examination and your eye tests. He willingly takes the time to answer all of your questions. Dr. Bovy is also very pleasant and takes the time to answer your questions. He's very patient, too, when he's switching lenses between 1 and 2, or 3 and 4, etc., to develop your lens prescription. The technicians are quick to explain things as well. This year I found the crowd control in the lobby very well managed. In fact, there was no crowd, unlike years past! I think this may be that SoCal Eye expanded its office to the next door suite to which optometry patients are directed. If there's ever a longer-than-expected waiting time, I know it's for good reason and not from over-booking appointments. There most likely could be a patient with an issue that demands more attention and tests from the doctor and technicians. Dr. Hartman mentioned that he had a patient whom he discovered had a brain tumor, which clearly demanded more of his attention. If this should ever be the case, I'm willing to wait or reschedule my appointment, if necessary, because if I were in that patient's shoes, I'd want and expect the same attention from my doctor as well. I would not want a doctor who rushes through an appointment, and I've been to a number of doctors who, unfortunately, do that, as if they are trying to meet a daily quota. I never get that feeling when I go to SoCal Eye. I won't think about going to another office for my eye health. I see how much SoCal Eye cares about their patients and strives to improve upon their patients' experience year after year! read more

I can't speak to the service and care from the MD's but their receptionist was incredibly rude. I found their clinic through my insurance provider, so I knew that coverage is verified. When I called as a new patient trying to set up an appointment, the staff starts badgering me about what my medical group is, when I already provided all the info that I have on my end. I tried to politely explain that normally with my insurance info, subscriber ID, and group ID, the staff is able to verify on their end. She tells me that this is not her job and I should be the one calling my insurance to find out this information. I don't appreciate asking your patients to do YOUR work that is a common protocol from any medical setting. Please train your receptionists to be more courteous and knowledgeable. read more

With several eye diseases for most of my life, and losing my vision in one eye, Dr. Hartman has been taking care of my other eye for 30 years. I had a really advanced cataract, but with my diseases and only one seeing eye it was risky. So I had surgery on the 16th for cateracts. I was surprised at the wonderful treatment I recieved when I got there. The nurses made me fill very comfortable and were very professional. 21 years and counting! I have been waffling back and forth about writing a review simply because I really don't want to share Dr. Hartman but everyone deserves to see well as well as having a dedicated eye doctor, and talented one at that! We were referred to Dr. Hartman after my first two pediatric surgeries and I was schedule for a YAG laser. My mom later told me that when he found out the laser machine was going to be late, he made sure they brought it in even earlier. He's also was willing to play along with my jokes, most notably my asking him to spell PIG backwards which mortified my mother and got me a "no more talking" but I'm not even ashamed. Well, just a tad. And then there was my high school formal where I was really trying to impress a boy (he did not like me back ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) and so I finally asked for contacts. Dr. Hartman chuckled and said that he hoped that I would have a good time at winter formal. He also made sure I got everything I needed in a timely manner. Year after year, he's still the best doctor and sets the example that many would do well to follow. He's our family eye doctor and even though I only see him once a year, he remembers all small details. But most of all, he's willing to take the time to educate his patients and always goes above and beyond. I get to learn about the latest developments because I'm a nerd that wants to know about the latest information available. I knew his specialty was in lasers. It is amazing what he has pioneered in the ophthalmology field (I'm a former lab rat) and I have only just found out about his clinical trials because he is that humble about it! He is truly timeless and hasn't changed these past twenty years and I am so thankful for that. Side note: I've seen Dr. Nhu a few times when I had an emergency and Dr. Hartman was at the other office. She's quite thoughtful and was very calm during my panic mode. Staff was great, but not sure if young Ted Pascelli is even a doctor. He observed, sat there and did not tell us anything. I had to ask him what he saw and he could not even explain it properly. He said, " this is the issue." Then I asked if it could be this other issue. He replied, "oh yes, that could be it too." Are you kidding me. So what is it?? Without taking risk on my eye issue, I went to another ophthamologist at another office and diagnosed with 2 additional symptoms and immediately scheduled me for a surgery to remove a cyst that caused serious scratch to my cornea. I have just completed two cataract surgeries with SoCalEye and while I am generally skittish about any type of surgery to say I was nervous is an understatement. However, from the minute I walked into SoCalEye Center I felt comfortable within the environment, the helpfulness of the staff and above all with the care I received. Dr. John Ling performed my surgeries and made the experience as comfortable as possible, he answered and re-answered all my questions, guided me through post op care with compassion and kindness. Dr. Ling did a stellar job from beginning to discharge. The process for setting up the surgeries, one in September 2020 and the other in October 2020 was expertly handled by their scheduler Han including my follow-up calls and at no time did I feel as if I couldn't call and ask questions. Upon arrival at the surgery Center I was walked through the process with professionalism by all of the nurses and surgical staff explaining each procedure step by step patiently. Post surgery the staff was equally patient and kind. I highly recommend Dr. John Ling, SoCalEye Center and the entire staff for any ophthalmology procedure.
