Coach Heidi has now missed 2 sessions for our soccer shots classes. This last one she didn't even bother letting everyone know that class was canceled. This is not professional nor is it nice to the kids who are so excited to participate. And don't even get me started on trying to get a refund. Please look elsewhere for a soccer program. read more

I was hired by Soccershots Ocean County, and it was not well organized every Jay the schedule changed. But more importantly, I have a transgender activist as a coach a couple lesbians which I have no problem with, but they do not tell the parents or incoming coaches. I explain to them for three weeks that the woman I worked with, was not nice to me. Finally, I learned that she was a transgender actors in a middle school. So she did not like me and I don't think she should be teaching or coaching children at that age without parents, knowing upfront. I have the receipt if anybody wants to say it's not true read more

My 4-year old son went for the winter/spring season and I'm very satisfied with the patience of the coaches. They are very friendly with the kids and go at different pace with different kids. It has been a good introduction to soccer for him. read more

My 2.7 year old son attended Soccer Shots at our company daycare premises, which has really great onsite outdoor facilities for all kinds of activities, including hosting Soccer Shots. Our Soccer Shots coach was great. However For 2-3 year olds the Soccer Shots program is a real hit and miss. Forget the official reports that are written and sent to you - these are always very positive, children learned this and that and played this and that. If you're just reading the reports - you really have no idea how well your child engaged. He / she could easily have been standing around doing absolutely nothing the entire duration (just saying, I've seen that, although it was not my child at the time of observation). The children did not see the Soccer Shots instructor very often (once per week) and frequently did not engage as well as they do with regular teachers they see every day. I have attended 4 sessions (both early and mid way through the season), and my childs engagement with the activities was only at 100% when I was there. This is obviously because I'm a parent (a trusted caregiver in childs eyes). I assume the same positive 100% engagement translates to birthday parties where parents are present? (I'm speculating - no personal experience with bday parties yet). I have also observed other children over the 4 sessions and the engagement is hit and miss, around 50%. All in all - a good idea on paper, but doesn't quite work out in practice for this age group with an outside instructor. Another downside pointing in the same direction is that the weekly sessions were incredibly short (30 minutes, including setup and teardown and roll call) - so children do not spend enough time with the instructor. Obviously making the sessions longer could have its own problems (young children are easily bored) or conflict with childs other activities at the center and be more expensive. However I'm by no means a twos pedagogical expert, so perhaps there is a way to extend the sessions slightly (45 min?). Plus if the child is not engaged, a longer session would not be any good - discussion better saved for pedagogical professionals. In other words Soccer Shots is a good idea on paper, hard to implement in practice for the 2yo age group. This is of course purely a personal opinion, and no doubt biased by the lack of engagement for my 2.5 yeald old boy. However even other children in the 2-3 year old range who I would consider much more easy-going and more quick to warm up to new people than my child did not engage well at least 50% of the time that I participated and had a chance to observe. i would say that, on average, my childs experience wasn't very different from just taking a walk outside. He would probably do more if he just did regular outside play with his classmates and teachers. So why pay extra for an activity that does not achieve more compared to the standard activities already included in your regular day care tuition? Perhaps the engagement is better in a slightly older children group, when they are more coachable and can be focused more (I'm speculating). Once again the coach was great, and I don't have any suggestions for improvement. Perhaps there is a way to involve a trusted caregiver (e.g. one of childrens regular teachers), but then this approach is better implemented as an internal day care center activity, and would not need an external Soccer Shots provider. Once again - you can safely ignore the shiny reports sent by e-mail, and I would recommend observing a couple sessions to decide whether the activity is for your child. You don't need to sign up your own child. Based on the number of children standing around doing nothing, and children engaged in Soccer Shots play - you can calculate the chance that your child will be engaged. I'd estimate 50% overall for our group, and less than that for my specific child who likes to explore with familiar faces around him, rather than new faces. I would consider the activity reasonably priced. The problem is not with the price, but that my child would likely do more stuff if he was hanging out with his teachers doing familiar activities. Finally to recap - this review is for a once-per-week 30 min activity provided by Soccer Shots at our day care center for 3 months (12 sessions) read more

Let me start by saying my 4 year old daughter flips out in any social situation where she can't hold my hand for the duration of the event. With that said, Soccer Shots has completely changed her. We have a class with Coach Junior, and he is AMAZING with the younger kids. He adapts the class to fit the skill level of the kids, and whether they are catching on to the skill he is trying to teach. It's not a parent-participation class, but parents have to stay and watch (which I LOVE), and it allows for the kids to get through a minor emotional meltdown if necessary. It took her 2 classes to catch on and join in without any encouragement from me. She talks about her coach all week long to anyone who will listen, and she wakes up early on Saturday mornings excited to put her "soccer clothes" on. THANK YOU Soccer Shots!!! read more

Super disappointed in this program. We started our class last week - the 2-3 year old group. The very first session - the instructor is using words with these kids that they have no clue what they mean. I was under the impression that the 2-3 year old group would be play-based, games, a gentle introduction to soccer. Instead the very first session, the instructor is teaching 2-year olds about "controlling the ball". Are you kidding me? NONE of these kids understand that word. She had them doing dribbling up and down and when she yelled control, they had to put their foot on the ball. THEY ARE 2! The pace she was moving at was way too fast as well. She had them moving from the colored cones - again, they are 2 - yes they know colors, but associating colors with a new shape on the group - give the kids a break and some time to adapt. I have an incredibly athletic and smart child, but his language is just developing - she did not connect with my child. Made no attempt to connect with my child. f you are looking for a gentle, fun-play based introduction - I would look elsewhere. read more

My son loves the program and his coaches. However customer service has been rude and non responsive.

We had Coach Lisa and Coach Jose for our daughter's 4th birthday party. All the kids really loved the session and thoroughly enjoyed all the small games the coaches taught them. There were kids ranging from 3-7 years old and some who were playing soccer for the first time. Both Coach Lisa and Coach Jose ensured all the kids participated and had a wonderful time. Our daughter really loved it as well and few parents complimented us on the great idea for the party. read more

Soocer Shots is amazing! The staff are super friendly and I love that this company cares about and gets involved with their local community by participating in community events. My child is part of the school program and we love it so much that we had Soccer Shots come out to do a birthday party for my child and a classmate. It was great! The kids had so much fun and the coach was entertaining and patient with a bunch of energetic 3-4 year olds! Will definitely continue to work with and refer Soccer Shots and the great coaches (Alexis, Dave, Jaime and Director James) whenever possible. read more

Our son is now 4 and has been enjoying Soccer Shots since he was 2.8. The coaches were so terrific in his preschool program, that we decided to have a "Soccer Shots" birthday party for his 3rd birthday -- AND IT WAS AWESOME!! Not only did the kids get highly organized activities for over an hour, but we parents were able to sit by, take pictures, talk to each other, and actually enjoy ourselves, too! Our son's coach was able to find a good balance of teaching and coaching all the kids (even those distractible ones!), as well as making the birthday boy feel extra special, too. We don't have experience with the weekend series, but we highly recommend Soccer Shots for the experiences we have had listed above. read more

My son loves Soccer Shots. Each week when it's "soccer day" he gets himself dressed in full soccer gear, the one day I don't have to fight him to get ready for school. He gets mad if he misses it and can't wait to be on a team this fall. He talks about his coaches all the time and the games they play and all the goals he gets to score. Also teaches incredibly positive messages about sportsmanship. A great program to complement his preschool. read more

We had Lisa N. come and be the soccer coach for my son's 5th birthday party. She did a fantastic job keeping 13 preschoolers entertained and paying attention for an hour. It was perfect. She had age-appropriate games that had the children and the observing parents laughing. Everyone was very impressed. Soccer Shots is a great program. We started with them 2 years ago at my oldest son's preschool. Then this summer I learned that they also do birthday parties. So we hired them for my younger son's 3rd birthday party. Coach Lisa and Coach Zack were our helpers and they were wonderful!! They had a ton of energy and enthusiasm and were able to keep a group of kids ages 3-5 totally engaged and involved the entire time.
