I'll admit, I walked into Social Coffee Shop expecting the usual -- an overpriced cup of coffee from a cute little café that looks better than it tastes. They had a few seasonal drinks on the menu -- and while I can't for the life of me remember the names, I remember that they were good. Smooth, flavorful, and made with care. What really caught my attention, though, was the Dubai chocolate. While in Myrtle Beach around Labor Day, tried 3 different iced chai. It was relatively hot & humid that Saturday afternoon walking around Broadway at the Beach center. My girlfriend pointed out that she was hot, and I said it's really not that hot out. Regardless, we were both thirsty and wanted a cold beverage. Cashier was very friendly, efficient at moving the line along. Also, the drinks were made quickly. The price was comparable to other iced chai I've had. My drink was excellent. There was one other place with an even more superior iced chai, but it was expensive per ounce. It was a cute place with the A/C blasting, which was good. Overall, I'd strongly recommend if you're ever at Broadway at the Beach, which by the way, this is center isn't AT the beach...it's about 1.5 miles from the beach. It should be called Broadway CLOSE to the Beach, but I guess since it's in the City of Myrtle Beach that it's at the Beach. read more

After passing by a family at Broadway at the Beach, my husband's eye was caught by the most delicious looking iced coffee drink the mom was holding. I approached her and asked where she got it from considering it did appear super refreshing and just the thing we needed to cool off on this ungodly hot day. What a cute shop!! The coffee smelled amazing but I walked in to get drink for the trip home.. I got a boba tea! While I waited for it I looked around saw all kinds of baked goodies from cookies to pastries and muffins! They had canned and bottled beverages too but I have been craving a boba tea!! I got honeydew tea and this one was not a milk tea.. it was very refreshing with popping boba in bottom! It was so good I savored it all the way home lol . Super yummy coffee! There was a ton of choices, but I went with a frappe. It was super tasty and sweet (more like a dessert than a coffee) and great for a hot day. My dad just got a normal hot coffee with hazelnut and enjoyed it. Taking off a star because it is a bit pricey - my drink was ~$8. They also have weird hours. I don't think they open until 9:30am which is not typical for a coffee shop. However, I would still definitely come back for another frappe if I am in the area looking for something sweet. read more

Very cute coffee shop with nice indoor and outdoor seating. It is in the Broadway at the Beach park which gives it a pretty location with happy vibes and comfy feel. When I walk into a coffee shop I want to be greeted. It doesn't have to be a "Norm" greeting like on Cheers. A smile and a simple hello will do. Cheerfulness and coffee go hand in hand and a long way in customer service and retention. I don't want to feel like I am bothering the folks working at the counter. This is exactly how I felt at Social Coffee Shop. I ordered a cortado. It wasn't on the menu but the barista knew that it was like a espresso macchiato without the foam. I was charged $9.75 for the espresso drink and a bottled water. I have never paid that much for cortado. I asked the young man who took my order about the price he just shrugged his shoulders. I was with a group of people, we had just had an amazing time in Myrtle Beach so I decided no it to complain because I didn't want to ruin the moment or trip. I paid the ridiculous price. Apart from the cost and the lack of customer service, the cortado good and the shop was clean. It reminded me of a Starbucks. Would I come back? Probably not unless I was in dire need of caffiene. We went in there 2 times a day for 3 days. There were 9 of us ordering drinks. I spent $76ish a day and my niece spent $20ish a day. They had punch cards. After so many drinks you get a free one. We had 2 cards and were told the last day we could combine them. Our last day was today and the manager refused to combine them. Seriously? One free drink after all the money we spent there.
