Piggy Smalls
Tomeika M.

Visited here for dinner while on a short vacation. Hubby ordered flounder platter and I had their Piggy Smalls platter. The service was great. She kept checking on us even and offered her suggestions when we had questions about certain things on the menu. The ambiance of the restaurant is very casual and family friendly. Small groups to larger groups are welcomed. Large mounted TVs can be found by the bar and throughout and they offer a variety of viewing selections. We'll definitely return next time.

Amazing fresh and hot food! You would never think seafood & smokehouse as a great combination but it actually was great! Our waiter was awesome and very helpful with food suggestions as there are so many options to choose from. It wasn't very busy at all around 12pm and everything came out fast. There are so many seafood options here at the beach but this place should be your go to for fresh food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere of the restaurant gives comfortability and style. When I come to town..I'll be back!

We had about a 30-minute wait around 8 PM, mostly because there weren't enough waiters to cover all the tables. Fortunately, we were able to sit at the bar and got served right away. The bartenders were really friendly and attentive, which made the experience start on a good note. As for the food: * The ribs were the standout--tender, smoky, and even better than the brisket. * The mac & cheese was disappointing--pretty flavorless. * I miss the crinkle-cut fries they used to serve. * The baked beans were interesting, but I actually liked them a lot and would get them again. * The hushpuppies were great--crispy and full of flavor. Overall, aside from the mac & cheese, the food was solid and full of smoky flavor.

The chopped brisket and hush puppies were my favorite but everything on the platter was good. We had a large group and our server did a fantastic job. The manager was able to find a way for us all to sit near each other.

Mahi-mahi grilled tacos with goat cheese.

Last night I went to dinner at Bubba's fish, camp and smokehouse with a bunch of friends. We all had wonderful service. The waitress came to our table all the time to make sure that we had all we needed and how our food was and if we needed more refreshments. The ambience was delightful, and the manager asked us afterwards our experience was. My food was delicious. I ordered the grilled mahi-mahi mini tacos, which were an appetizer, but they filled me up for a meal. I would definitely recommend this place for a large group of people. Everyone else seem to enjoy their meal as well.

Oyster

Absolutely horrible, we paid nearly $70 for a to go order. My husband's oyster plate consisted of a few little pieces of oysters and the rest oil soaked breading. His fried okra was way undercooked. My shrimp plate was saturated in oil and all hush puppies were full of grease. I think this crap was passed off to us because it was a to go order. They figure that a lot of people are tourists and eat there passing through. The company really needs to return our money because we had to throw away $70 of crap. Just a word to the wise...if placing a to go order, thoroughly check your order on the spot and make sure that you don't have ALL BREADING looks are definitely deceiving.

Very friendly staff , I am in town for work and had 3 different people tell me to go here for comfort food . Fried chicken on point Mash potato's were instant so that was my least favorite . I would eat that every time I went

I had some business to attend to in South Myrtle Beach and as I finished up I started to get hungry…read morefor lunch. Luckily I saw a packed place on Mr. Joe White Avenue called Simply Southern Smokehouse. Place looked legit and had a full parking lot so I pulled in. There is only one way in and once you get in, the cashier is on the right with the $15 all you can eat buffet right next to it. The $15 also included all you can drink soft drinks, water and sweet tea. I paid my money and grabbed a plate and ran right up to the buffet. They start out light with vegetables and sides, working up to the main courses of fried chicken, fried fish, pulled pork, smoked chicken and some hot wings. After that, they had some mac & cheese, and then the desserts which was blueberry cobbler, peach cobbler, homemade banana pudding...and a couple of other things. I started off with some broad beans, stewed okra and tomatoes, smoked chicken and hot wings. I brought my plate and my silverware to an empty table, which was getting hard to find as the place was so packed and then went up to fetch me a glass of water to wash it down with. They serve Pepsi products and of course sweet tea but I was going to save my calories for dessert. The place was clean, well lit and the seating was well designed with booths along the wall and tables in the center... and plenty of room between the tables. Once seated I dug right in. The broad beans were excellent. Done right and full of flavor. The stewed tomatoes and okra, although cook correctly was a bit bland for my liking. The smoked chicken was excellent and I used a bit of the golden SC BBQ sauce on it...great...and homemade. The hot wings were the real deal meaty and moist with a nice kick. I finished the plate in about five minutes. Time for round two. On my second trip up, I put some collard greens, lima beans, a piece of fried chicken and a piece of fried fish on the fresh plate. As I sat down to eat, I put a bit of hot vinegar sauce on the collard greens and dug in. The collards were excellent and the homemade vinegar hot sauce gave it a bit of a kick and bite. The Lima beans were soft and loaded with flavor. I then moved on to the fried chicken, which was cooked correctly with the skin crispy and well battered and the meat moist on the inside. That said, it was bland. Given how well the beans were seasoned I was surprised. Same thing with the fish, but they had a real good house sauce for it which gave it a nice flavor and saved it, but overall both the fried chicken and the fried fish were bland. I then went up for a plate number three and realized I was not gonna be able to eat anymore mains, which was a shame since the pulled pork looked great... It will have to wait for the next time I come. I did, however leave a bit of room for dessert and I'm glad I did . The banana pudding was delicious with a full banana taste and 'Nilla wafers on top and bottom adding a bit of crunch. I only had enough room for one of the cobbler so I chose peach and it did not disappoint. Nice and warm with a sweet peach flavor and tasty crumbles. I wanted more but controlled myself. As I got up to leave, I placed five dollars on the table for the cleanup guy who was hustling and keeping the place neat and tidy. I then looked around and noticed this was a real local spot full of people from Myrtle Beach. You have families, elderly people, young people, construction workers and people from local businesses. For $15 it cannot be beat. Not only will I be back again but I plan on bringing some of my friends from up north who are going to love this place...plus I gotta try that pulled pork and Mac and cheese...if the fried chicken and fish have more seasoning, I'll up them to 5 stars.

The texture was fine, but the flavor of the sauce was too sweet for me. It did come with a unique square of cornbread, which was really moist and good. - I ordered the wings because they needed the dressing. They came along with it to make the flavor profile. I wasn't a fan of them without the dressing. They were also a little dry. I would give them a 3 out of 5. - The appetizer, the cornbread itself, had a nice butter topping for it. The cornbread seemed to have corn bits in it, which were chewy, but the cornbread was also dry, so I'd have to give it a 2 out of 5. - The empanadas themselves were cooked a little long, but the filling was really good. The flavors of the corn and everything together made it a 5 out of 5. They were a little pricey for two empanadas, but it was the star of the meal. I would definitely say the empanadas are a 4 out of 5 only because of the quantity that you get for the price. - The mocktail that they made was super sour. It needed some simple syrup to tone it down, but flavor-wise, it was good. I would have to give the entire experience a 3 out of 5.

We came here on the recommendation of folks from the RV Superstore, and we were not disappointed…read more Shug's has a main parking lot that gets filled up quick on a Friday night, but we managed to find a spot. They have a nice waiting area inside that allows you to see the sushi master. We were seated at a nice booth, and the restaurant is designed in a way that makes you feel like you're at a smokehouse - there's tin roof structures over the seating area which is pretty neat. The bathrooms are located at the back of the restaurant, but you will have to wait if someone is doing a full face of makeup at the sink because there's live music that night. Our table ordered the kids corn dog, the 16oz ribeye, and the goat cheese salad. While we were waiting on our food, complimentary croissants covered in honey butter arrived to the table. They were flaky and dripping in honey butter, so I ate it with a fork to preserve my hands. The steak comes with two sides, so the side salad promptly arrived after the croissants. The steak was one of the best we've had at a restaurant, and the loaded baked potato was devoured. The corn dog turned out to be corn dog nuggets, which made it easier for my little to cut up and let the steam release. The fries were super crispy but fluffy in the middle. The candied pecan crusted goat cheese salad was exactly that. It looked like a small cheese ball of goat cheese that had been rolled in the candied pecan mixture, and then deep fried. By the time you open the cheese ball of goat cheese and mix it with the rest of the salad, there's not much texture diversity because the croutons were not crunchy. If in the area, I would definitely return but would try a different salad next time.
