As our one year anniversary approaches, we are excitedly returning to Phoenix *and* we are excitedly going to meet up with our new, dear friends Cicely & Rebecca. A little back story, my husband and I have been together for 19 years now. As two guys, we once didn't even have the right to marry, and even today, as you can imagine, many people still are disapproving or are uncomfortable or whatnot. Anyhow, keep that in your back pocket. Back in 2016, we had a random work trip to Phoenix. We decided to spend a night at the Biltmore, since we are huge Frank Lloyd Wright fans. We decided to get married there! It was the perfect spot. The wonderful Biltmore folks introduced us to Cicely and Rebecca (and two other planning firms), whom we met via Skype from our home back in NYC. Unlike the other planners, they wanted to get to know us and our story, unlike other planners who seemed to tick off a list of "what do you want at your wedding reception." We hit it off so PERFECTLY on the first call. It seemed to be meant to be how smart and talented and sweet they were. While we had nice meetings with the other planners, Life Design set the bar so much higher. From that point on, they did everything so perfectly. They were responsive at all hours of the day, they came up with creative ideas that always fit within our budget, and they provided sound advice on where to spend more money or less money to get our overall effect. They created such an impressive plan for us that we were excited every step of the way to see it play out. Since we didn't tell anyone that we were getting married after all these years, they worked with their recommended vendors to come up with a brilliant plan to send out a small book with the story of our lives as our "save the date." So in December of 2016, our family and friends got a box with a book in the mail. It was a huge hit with us and with everyone in our lives. Our invitations had such sophistication and class. They helped introduce us to incredibly talented and open minded and hard working vendors who never once caused us worry or concern. As we gave them the very complicated task of figuring out a memorable welcome reception within a reasonable budget, they worked and worked and worked and came up with a brilliant outdoor event at the Hermosa Inn, which included so many creative touches that our guests loved, including tacos cooked over cauldrons, a fun s'more station over a cauldron, and the beauty of the Southwest. What an event! Most importantly, I will be immodest and say our wedding was insanely awesome. They came up with a design that fit our aesthetic and the great setting of the Biltmore. Our guests were blown away by how beautiful and sophisticated everything was. They came up with beautiful details in terms of linens, furniture, table markers, signage, and everything else. Cicely and Rebecca worked their butts off. On the weekend of our wedding, our friends were amazed that we were relaxing by the pool with them because Cicely and Rebecca and their magical team took care of everything and we had nothing to worry about. We can't say a single negative thing, and we have nothing but the highest recommendation for these brilliant women. We love that they made our wedding so gorgeous and so artistic and so high-end. We love that they worked carefully with our needs. We love that they were so attentive and hard working. We love that they are so caring and open-minded. Wow. Just wow. Thank you.

I can't say enough about their empathy, professionalism, creativity and communication! EVERYONE let me know in the weeks to follow how impressed and grateful they were for this gathering to honor my young husband. She was so knowledgeable! There were some flowers I wanted to incorporate but she let me know that it either wasn't in season or the coloring could be off, which I'm so glad she did and just didn't get it because I wanted it. Everything on our wedding day was absolutely beautiful and I wish I could preserve each and every single piece. She helped me with the budget by making sure pieces could be utilized in the ceremony space and then moved to the reception space; everything had a dual purpose, which was great. Knowing that I was asking for a floral crown for a New Year's Eve photoshoot made me a little nervous since I figured most florist would already be booked or busy. I reached out to the Floral Theory on Instagram to connect and ask if they were available. While Instagram may not be her preferred way of communication, she was quick to answer, and asked questions to make sure that she could help. She was able to give me confirmation on being able to help us rather quickly, and even mentioned that she would be willing to pick out the flowers for us fresh from the market. I found it extremely sweet, that she went above and beyond to help us during the holiday weeks when her team was out of the office. Last weekend I attended the Ashley Furniture Grand Re-Opening Celebration in Scottsdale and had the…read morepleasure of getting my face painted beautifully by Cecilia Guinea! I noticed a few ladies walking around with these cute flowers on their faces and even eyelids and thought, "I want that!" I got to pick my colors, describe what I wanted and within a minute, my floral painting was done. I think she would be a great addition to any event as she's fast, does beautiful work, and is very friendly!
