Starting this morning at 11:11 am, I called the number listed for this Social Security location. I am still on line at 2:47 pm, with no answer. Earlier I received a recording stating that there's a 15 minute wait due to the call volume. As you can see that was false information!! How do I get through via a phone call? How do I make an appointment to see staff? My concerns are very important and merit the assistance from Social Security staff. Furthermore, I was told from the national office that this location would help me. I am still patiently waiting!! Please answer the phone or at least give me some type of update regarding an accurate time-line for the next available staff. Thanks!! read more

Oh my goodness. I came here to Grand Prairie instead of downtown fort Worth to avoid the parking nightmare. I'm so glad I did! I arrived approximately 8:30, got my ticket immediately, was one of the first ones called back, actually had all the documentation I needed to change my son's name, and was out to my car by 9:10. On top of that, the officer who was directing things was so nice and funny, and made everything entertaining during the short wait. I absolutely would recommend to the social security office to anybody, just make sure you arrive on a weekday at least half an hour early. read more

These people are on point. Tons of people were waiting & my heart sank knowing this was going to be a forever situation. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The security guard lead the operation calling out names & pointing them to the correct window. They had a lot of staff. You check into a kiosk. If you need help the security guard will be glad to assist. I was stunned how well a US government office is running. I was in and out less than 30 minutes. Staff extremely pleasant. The SS office in Bloomington, Illinois is a joke. The staff (including the security guard manning the door) is extremely rude and ignorant. All I needed done was a simple name change. I was at the office with the proper documents in hand at 9:00am. There was one other person in the parking lot besides me. After I saw him go in I went to go in. The door was locked. The security guard just sat there staring at me so I knocked. He got up very annoyed. He screamed at me "By appointment only" and pointed at some posting on the outside wall. I said, there's nobody here. He once again screamed "Appointment only" call the number. So I went to the number and called. The very uneducated person that answered the phone informed that I would have to put my documents in the drop box on Tuesday's and Thursday's between 1p -4p (no photo copies). The documents being the legal name change paperwork, certified, driver's license or passport or state id (actual not copy) and/or a signed medical record from my doctor. I explained that I would never put my drivers license or passport in a drop box without a receipt and asking for a medical record is a HIPPA violation. She said those were my choices. Then she told me I could wait for the government offices to open back up and wait in line for 5-6 hours. She also told me that I had a two year period to get it done and if I didn't they could garnish my wages. All false facts, all lies. I screenshot the time and date and plan to take action as I have went on line to learn what I actually need to do. You should NEVER put actual legal documents in a drop box and any idiot government employee that tells you to do that should be fired immediately!!! read more

It's weird giving a government office 5 stars, but this experience was as good as it can get! I recently got married, so of course I have to go though the 1,274 step process to change my name. Everyone said the Social Security office was the worst part. However, I printed my form online and filled it out before I arrived. I also made sure I had all my required documents beforehand. When I arrived, I checked in at a self serve kiosk very quickly after being directed by two AMAZING security guards. They kept things in the waiting area very lighthearted while also being very helpful. They would even repeat numbers in case you couldn't understand the PA system. I got there before 10 a.m. (which I highly recommend) and was done in less than an hour. The gentleman who helped me with my paperwork was also a gem. Everyone was so friendly and nice. If you have to go to a SS office in the DFW area, this is your place. Tip: You can't have food or drink, but bring a book and a fully charged device! read more

When you first walk in, there are signs and kiosks to your left asking you to sign in and why you are here (social security card, name change etc). It will assign you a number that they will call out overhead. There is a tower filled with paperwork near the kiosks, in the event that you didn't fill the necessary forms prior to your visit, that are readily available for you to grab. As they are calling out your number, the speakers are a bit jumbled and static-y, however the employees and security officers do a great job in repeating the numbers and directing you to the appropriate window. I went on a Wednesday and it was FULL. My paperwork was filled out prior to my visit. I was done within 30min. They have a great system to get people in and out. I took a day off from work to handle this errand and really didn't need a full day off. read more

Long line and computers out of order finally got 2 working after about a hour of standing in line a lady came out and announced because of the government shut down they could only due bare minimum and nothing else the place emptied out immediately because of this I was done in 2 minuets I just had an address change because online won't accept P.O. I arrived at this SSA at 7:58 am on a Wednesday. When I got out of my car, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were only 10 people in front of me (I was willing risk not getting here at 7:30 for a little extra sleep). Around 8:10, I looked up and there were at least 15 people behind me. Talk about good timing. At 8:30, they let everyone in so we could check in (by getting numbers at a computer) and fill out forms if needed. The security guard advised us the #s on the screen do NOT work. They started calling right at 9. The #s were out of order but it was a pretty quick process. I was called back about 2 minutes later and was out before 9:10am. I wasn't sure how long the name change process would take for my social but I'm happy it went as fast as it did! read more

We arrived today to apply for retirement benefits and I had been dreading the trip. OMG!!!! The reviews were right!!! We arrived by 9:00 and was out by 9:35!!! The security guard greeted us at the door with a ticket, which we didn't have to wait at the kiosk and were called within 10 minutes!! My SS clerk window #35 was AMAZING!!!! They are organized, efficient and polite!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! It did save time by already enrolling for a SS my account. I had already done that so that sped up my process! The security guard is very helpful and friendly but staff are short and act like they have limited knowledge on anything other than giving you a replacement ss card. If you go after 3pm the wait is only 30-40 minutes read more

I went in here expecting to hate my life for the next 3 hours. 25 min later I am out f there with my name officially changed and a new social security card on its way!!! I got to the office right at 9am as they opened, hoping I would miss the massive crowd....wrong!! People must have been waiting there for hours!! I walked in to check in at the automatic kiosk. This part was a little confusing because there were SO many options. I got my ticket and went to sit down and start the long journey of waiting. About 5 min later I heard an announcement saying that if you were doing anything involving a social security card your ticket should have an 'A' on it...well crud....mine had a 'B'. So I did in fact check in wrong! I went back to the kiosk to attempt to check in again. This time I received the correct ticket and returned to my seat. About 10 min later my ticket was called!!! I walked by a room full of people giving me death stares because they didn't understand how the girl who couldn't even check in correctly and got there after them already got to go!! Turns out the line for name changes was much shorter and a quicker process! I'm so thankful for the security guard who made the announcement about having the right ticket. I was greeted at the door by the man who was going to help me. He walked me back to his cubicle and within 10 min I had a receipt telling me that my new card would be here within 2 weeks! This office has one of the most inept employees. We went in to see a representative in December, well within the time limits to appeal, and she has NEVER, EVER returned our calls. I called the main offices in Maryland and told the rep I connected with about how this office runs business. She cannot even find the two appeal forms that were supposed to be scanned in by the rep last December! Incredible! We have copies of them with the date stamp of December 9, 2019 and will use them to establish our rights and that we acted within the time limit for appeal. I also left a message last week with a manager and she has not even responded. Totally disgusting! Now, they are closed due to the Covid19 virus. I am really ticked off at this office. We have to stay with the person we first saw last December and can't go to another office, otherwise I would. Tomorrow, I am calling AGAIN and if I don't get this resolved over the phone, I am filing a formal complaint with the Social Security Administration main offices in Maryland. read more

I have been to the Social Security office repeatedly they do a pretty good job there's a lot of people in Texas on disability and they work very hard to straighten out the situation however at the same time they will take money from your check wrong way so that's just the way the government functions do except it or do we not? read more

Very fast. There was a ton of people there when I came but they was very quick at getting people in and out. I came a little after 9 a.m and the place was full. I waited about 15 mins. It was very quick. Everyone was very nice and the security guards was very helpful. The only problem I had was finding the place due to my GPS. read more

I read the reviews and thought I'd be at the office for hours. We showed up at 8:20, the guard let us in at 8:30 (it was a little cold outside) to get our ticket numbers. There were 27 people in front of us. The guard was very nice and explained a lot... he helped people with their tickets too. About 8:40 a lady came out and told people how to use the website to do a lot of stuff instead of having to come into the office and said they are working on process improvement so people don't have to take time off work to come into the office. Then she explained how people would be called, and started getting everyone lined up for the first stations to open up. Our number was called about 9 and we went into the back office and were helped out to get a new SSN for my foreign bride. We were out of there by 9:20. I was extremely happy! read more

I came with low expectations, but my overall experience was really good. They open around 9am monday-friday. I was told by a lot of people to arrive early. I dropped by on monday to check to see what the line would look like. I arrived around 8am and found a really long line, at least 30 people. Since the line was super long on monday, I decided I would come in on wednesday super early. I got there around 7:30am and there were about 6 people already lined up. It was pretty chilly that morning, luckily I brought a decent sized coat. I had an hour and half wait and the line just kept getting longer and longer, so bring some entertainment. I recommend at least coming an hour early if you want to get in and out to go back to work. They opened the doors around 8:30 to let people come in. There are 4 sign in kiosks, they will print a ticket number. The tickets have different letters depending on what you are there for. Tickets with an "A" are for people getting replacement security cards, they tend to call those numbers generally fast and out of order. Tickets with other letters aren't as plentiful. My ticket had a "B", but since I was the 6th person in line I was one of the first people called. The room had a decent amount of chairs, but not enough for the amount of people who showed up. There are tvs on the walls but the ticket display technology wasn't working so we had to rely strictly on the voice intercom. The intercom is not very good and it was hard to distinguish certain numbers that were being called. I hope they fix this problem soon. When I got seated, I gave the guy all the information I needed (birth certificate, drivers license and I even had my passport). He reviewed my information and I was out by 9:10am. If you come super early you'll wait a long time before they open, but it's definitely worth it versus coming in later and having to wait a long time, especially if you had to take time off from work. read more
