Wait times make no sense. They have all the numbers covered up on the lobby screens with post-it notes so people don't know when to expect to be called. The security guards are extremely sarcastic and unprofessional, I don't know if they were former detention officers or just waiting for ICE to accept their application, but this definitely isn't the place for them. Some people they tell to throw their drinks/snacks away, others they don't; all the while the security is currently holding a Monster can himself. For as packed as the room was, the line moved rather quickly. After signing in at the kiosk, I grabbed my number and took a seat. In the end, I learned all I had to do was to stuff my documents in an envelope and place them in the drop box. Wish I had noticed this up front. Live and learn. Oh well! At least I was able to ask a few questions of the clerk attending the window. Not sure how long it will be before getting a response from my disability application. Where to start. Let's go back a year and 11 months. We got our son from his abusive father. Got him diagnosed with multiple disorders because of the abuse from his father after getting him diagnosed we then filed for social security disability that was easy we did all that online. After receiving the interview with the social security office they didn't told us the amount that we was getting for the back payment sometime in the range of 5682.? Cents then this is where the trouble starts. The lady that was working Windows 13 that day goes on an hour lecture on what we could legally spend the back payment on which was school supply school supply shoes pants socks underwear diapers and she said that was about it she then asked us do y'all got it we said yes I guess she heard no because he went on that hour lecture again but this time after she said shirts and shoes she said okay y'all got that we have to repeat it so then she goes and gets her supervisor Ms Grimes and she says oh they only have one account they need to have two accounts one for the back payment and one for the regular monthly payment my wife shoulder we do but those weren't good enough we had to go back because they said it has to say social security account our third time back to the social security office saying that the banks no banks has just a social security account it's still a personal account with having on the side of it social security which is done by most banks but again the lady at the window and the supervisor are really yelling as at this point saying you have to have an account that is designated with social security on it so while we was at the window my wife called Wells Fargo Bank had the branch manager from the downtown office explained to that woman how the bank works and how their system works and how they can't rewrite the system to do a social security account Even though that lady has been a branch manager for 22 years Miss Grimes told her she was wrong. Only after Ms Grimes called her bank and ask her bank if it was a social security account her bank told her no mail it has to be a personal account and they can happen it with social security only we was at window 13 for 2 and 1/2 hours they told us his monthly payment would be in the mail by the end of the week they said the back payment we would get one of those they said they really didn't know when they said be sometime after the monthly check was received they said after you received the first back payment you will not receive another one for 6 months okay that sounds good sign us up but again not with this office his monthly check didn't get deposited into the account that we set up like they ask us to do they send us a check my wife calls them three weeks later asking you know hey about the back payment they told her y'all didn't received it she said no we haven't after 2 3 4 months come to find out that that supervisor Ms Grimes and windows 13 lady after 2 hours lecture 30 telling the how to run pre ssa rules. Those two numb nuts entered the wrong routing and account number so let me send you up here you're sitting at 6 months now we still have not got the first back payment. Well figuring out that the social security administration was not going to do nothing about the back payment my wife goes into detective mode she calls the treasury department gets a lady on the phone that works with her I'm not saying this but I am saying this that lady gave her both account numbers so we didn't know the name of the account that he went but we do have the account number that it went in or we think we got fired here so we go up there to the social security administration office downtown fort Worth again we asked to speak to the best supervisor Grimes she walks to the window she don't let us have two words in she puts her finger up and she says give me a minute she searches and searches and searches again we have the accounts at the stuff went into this lady wants to grab it and say that we got it she can prove we got it she has the account number when she called up the account number that went into my wife says that is not my account showed her the paperwork that they made copies of that they still says no no no no no I don't know if she needs glasses or what but the numbers were you know you'd think you know maybe the last two numbers you know maybe clinical area you know typing too fast you know that but these numbers were not even close the routing number to the bank was right but the account number not even a little like Tim's account. After literally getting nowhere with Ms Grimes my wife then went home called you on the phone luckily she got somebody to listen that's a rarity with the social security administration office let me tell you 6 months and maybe 3 weeks later we get the back payment. Okay so you think that the second payment would be Ezer to end this just to let you know still waiting on 2 payment I promise a 5 grade child can do better read more

I waited for three hours to fill out info for a new social security card. The card never arrived via mail. They said it would arrive within two weeks. It's been almost a month. I have been attempting to apply for Survivor Benefits since October 1, 2021. It is impossible to talk to anyone or get an appointment. I reached full retirement age in November of 2021. I have called the Federal 800# and am promised that I will receive a call within 10 business days, the call never comes. I have called the Denton office and they are happy to answer questions but are unable to help, unless I lived in Denton County. It is absolutely ridiculous that our government isn't more responsive. Most of the country has gone back to work, but this office still has most of their employees "working" remotely. Be prepared to wait. A long time. Like, whatever you have in your head as a "long time," double that. I had occasion to come to this office recently to get a replacement social security card for my son. The office is on the first floor. When you enter, look for a small computer kiosk (which is NOT located anywhere near the door, oddly), where you will punch in information about what brings you there, and you will then be given a paper number. KEEP TRACK OF THIS NUMBER! If you miss them calling you, you will have to get a new number and start all over again. Note that although there is a TV screen on the wall that purports to tell you what numbers are being served, it may or may not be working. I heard more than one person say they missed their number because they did not see it on the screen, only to be told that the the screen had not been working for several weeks. So I repeat - keep track of your number and listen for it being called! My wait took about 1 hour, 45 minutes. You do NOT want to have to do that twice! Be sure you have everything you need BEFORE you come here. I would recommend calling to verify this, because I heard more than one person say they had everything the website said was necessary, but apparently the website is either not complete, or not entirely correct. I experienced this first hand when I brought my son's school ID, which the website said would be accepted. What the website does not tell you is the ID must have a birth date on it. I should note that despite all of the above, the staff themselves were helpful and knowledgeable. I was very happy with the man who assisted me, as he was clearly doing everything he could to get me what I needed, even to the point of looking through all the documents I had to find something they could accept after the school ID issue came up. I honestly would never think to give a rating to a government office, but I was tested with utmost respect when I came into to get copies of my daughters' social security cards. The officers working at the entrance were beyond respectful and kind to me. I didn't make it to get copies of my cards because they informed me that I had to bring two forms of identification for my daughters. This was a Glauber blessing as the line was wrapped around the building and I would have been pissed to wait in that line for an hour to be told the same thing at the office window. Make sure to get a number by signing in to the kiosk. They are only open until noon on Wednesdays, even if google says otherwise. Make sure to be prepared bring your ID and fill out the appropriate paperwork before your number is called. The wait for a replacement social security card was about an hour. They don't give you the replacement there, they provide a receipt, the social security card is sent to your address in 5-7 days. Oh and most important, LISTEN for your number. Listen carefully for your number!! When mines was called, we could hardly hear it even though I indicated at check in that I was hard of hearing!!
