Wow! What an honor and privilege to be able to walk in here. This ancient courthouse made me feel so special because of the architecture. The landscaping is well taken care of but inside does not smell so fresh. The steps are steep and intimidating. I don't like heights. The Security Officers were very nice and helpful. The Gentleman explained to be where I needed to go. He was also friendly when I asked him questions. There's a small Museum to the left. It was pretty busy. I saw a kid doing a book report for class, along with a few other visitors. I ran into a Police Officer and he told me where to go too. The ladies in the office went the extra mile to help. Parking was near by. You just scan and pay. I saw two Brides getting their Bridal Portraits. It was such a nice moment. The fourth floor has a colorful Rotunda that many people enjoy seeing. This is definitely a unique Courthouse with lots of pictures inside. I would definitely recommend this courthouse. read more

I've had to come down a few times to help a friend with some important business, and each visit has been smooth. The guards at the entrance are always friendly and quick to get us through. Staff on the 3rd floor are also very helpful and informative. Parking is easy to find on Belknap Street--just a few blocks away. Bring coins for the meters! read more

Just legally got married at this location and it was the best day of my life. I would like to say however process of getting an appointment at this location is really hard and you really need to plan way in advance till the process is improved for the future brides as it can be very stressful. I called this location every day for an available appointment as unfortunately their website does not offer online appointments and that's the only way or going to the courthouse in person. Not everyone sadly is very nice on the phone as well so that can add to the stress. Fortunately someone named Lin was able to put me on schedule due to a recent cancellation. The judge who married us was so kind and gave us such great marriage advices. Overall I am happy that I chose this court house despite its challenges as not only it's truly beautiful inside and outside their judge truly makes your day special with their kind words. read more

Wanting to spend some time outoors, I took a walk downtown and ended up at the courthouse. Since it was Sunday, the building was locked; however, I took in all the historical markers and plaques on the premises. If I think about it, I may head back sometime this week in order to check out the inside. In addition to the courthouse, there are also other landmarks of note: the TCC nursing campus, Hertiage Park, and Ripley Arnold Plaza. Walking the grounds would make for a great family affair. I've been to the courthouse a few times. Last time was for a probate hearing. It's a very interesting building. The pictures on the walls are the best part. If you are coming, whether on business or just to wander around, be forewarned that you will need to pass through a metal detector... And possibly take of your shoes (if you have steel toes). Lastly I would be remiss if I did not mention there is a small museum, and that this is the building you see at the start of the TV show, "Walker, Texas Ranger" Bottom line: If you like history, it's worth a peek. I just wish there were better view options (from the upper floors). The view from the steps, on the north side of the building, is quite majestic. read more

I called in around 4:30 p.m. to get the status of an emergency protective order. I am in my third trimester and was assaulted over the weekend with a cast iron baking pan before being hospitalized. This occurrence only added to the stress of the current situation and resulted in my stomach contracting. This exchange lasted about 35-40 minutes but no resolution was reached. The first person that I spoke with said her name was Tory. She wasn't very clear in pronouncing her name and would not clarify. She picked up my initial call but did not say anything so I tried hanging up to give a call back thinking that maybe the connection was poor. After calling this time, the call was immediately disconnected so I called back again. The same person answered and I asked to be directed to the department that could give me a status update on an EPO. She asked me what an EPO was and I explained that it was an emergency protective order. She said that she has never had to deal with anything like that and did not know what an emergency protective order was. She asked me for personal details on the situation in which I refused to provide but did explain that someone assaulted me and I needed to speak with someone that could assist me with a protective order. She referred me to the "Family Unit" and said that she would transfer me. I waited on hold for 15 minutes before hanging up as no one answered and I feel as though my call was never properly directed. The operator did not bother to check back in on the call either. I called back again and the call was immediately disconnected again. I called back again and the same operator answered. At this point, I wanted to file a complaint and made the decision to follow up with police instead concerning the protective order. I asked if the call is routed to the same department when a caller pushes zero or if it was possible that I was being routed to various departments in which she told me that the call is directed only to this department when a caller pushes zero. I then asked for a manager and she said No. She said that she would transfer me to the family unit. I asked for a manager repeatedly while she attempted to argue with me. I refused to engage. She then proceeded to put me on hold after repeatedly denying me access to further the call with a superior. No one came to the call again and I hang up. I called back and the call was disconnected immediately. I called back again. The same person answered the phone and I again asked for a manager in which she transferred me to a lady who said her name was Mary Lou but when I asked her did she say May Lou, she said yes. They both refused to provide their names with clear understanding. I later discovered that this lady was NOT a manager although she represented herself this way. I asked more than five times for the proper way to file a formal complaint but "Mary Lou" kept redirecting the conversation to my initial inquiry. She was very hostile and when I asked whether she would be in office so that I could come down to get her description for my written complaint, she indicated that she wanted to fight me saying things like "I'm here" "We're all here everyday" "Come on down". The customer service was not only tacky and threatening but very unprofessional. I made it clear that I wanted to know how to proceed with a complaint and she said "I don't want to hear from you". I said "excuse me?". She said I do not want to hear that you're saying we hung up on you. She said that she would transfer me to the "Family Unit" and they can help me with filing a complaint against the operators. She then put me on hold until 5:02 p.m and hang up in my face again. They should both be fired. This should not be the standard of the way Tarrant County is represented. There was a lack of empathy, failure to assist, long hold times, difficulty to reach, not using proper channels, refusing information, aggressive and threatening behavior, uniformed operators, lack of resolution, hanging up in callers faces, ETC. read more

Used to be privately owned, but was given to the city of Fort Worth because there was "no heir atarrant." Get it. Get it. This is a beautiful old style courthouse. You can find the county clerk here and a few courts. Some of the judges are as old school as the building. The clerks are always nice. I've had personal experience at the Tarrant County Courthouse but I won't tell you exactly what that's about. I didn't do anything particularly bad. So I've been here before and never an issue. But today I was so P'd off I'm gonna blast it. The 2 deputies at the entry metal detector were so rude and pretty much mean to everyone. But the last straw was a senior elderly woman who was here with I'm guessing a daughter. She was slow, with a cane and obviously challenged with movement. One guard, about 60 pounds over what should he allowed, rolled his eyes at her. The other yelled commands like it was boot camp. Yeah the courthouse is not a night club or a restaurant but your tax dollars pay for it therefore it is a business. Today after my seminar, I went downtown. I realized I needed to drop a kid off at the pool if you know what I mean and where better to do so than in the edifice sponsored by my tax dollars? I help pay the water and electric for that joint so I'm entitled. Actually I learned one random day in Waxahatchie that courthouses have really clean ladies rooms so I decided to try my luck again. After going through the security gate and having my purse scanned I looked for the ladies room. Sure enough, the Tarrant County Courthouse has a nice ladies room. Clean, spacious, empty, state of the art automatic flushing throne and a Texas pink marble vanity. Booyah. After taking care of nature, I explored the building. Not real exciting but if you like vintage photographs there is a nice montage on the first floor of early Fort Worth circa 1897 to 1940 or so including construction of the courthouse which is courthouse number 3. The photo of courthouse no. 2 showed it wasn't nearly as impressive as building 3. And wow was Fort Worth a rough lookin' town around 1890. mercy. Dirt roads and shacks but a huge fancy courthouse. Weird. Second floor the photos continue and I like the second floor ones the best. Vintage shots of Crowley, Burleson, Benbrook, Grapevine.. really cool. Third floor is photos of dead commissioners which aren't very interesting but if you go up there you can get up close and personal with the inside of the courthouse dome. No, it's not the Austin courthouse level of fancy but it's still nice to say you looked at it. I also discovered a "telephone room". You can use their phone to make any local call FREE. No 35 cents. Free. Yeah I know everyone's got a cell phone now but the idea of calling out for a pizza on the county's dime amuses me. Upon exit there's a little room called the 1895 room with a diorama of when Fort Worth was still a fort. Frankly.. it is really boring. A window of historic Masonic Lodge crap? really? zzzzzzzzzzzz So... go in the courthouse. Use the facilities and go see the free photographic art exhibit. Well not exactly free.. your tax dollars pay for the building upkeep. read more

Had to go to the records room at the courthouse. So I was a tad bit annoyed that I couldn't do what I needed done online, but I can't blame the building for that can I? The building is awesome and beautiful. Security at public buildings to me is both annoying and sad, but I guess understandable. The security line was actually fairly efficient for a security line. The people there were helpful because I had no idea where I was going and when I got there the people in the records room were very helpful. The building itself is old cool and definitely a throw back to previous generations when they actually built cool buildings made out of real materials and not particle board. Most reasons to go to the courthouse probably aren't good ones, jury duty, court, or something else but it is a really cool building. read more

If I could give zero stars and leave a review that is what it would be. What exactly is probate for? When the judge can obviously see there is an issue concerning an estate and the gross negligence of its executrix and does nothing. Over 10 years of probate 3 different judges and not one of them did anything. Literally, didn't do anything. Last I remember and correct me if I'm wrong. These probate judges are elected. Well, if you get anything from this review I pray/ implore you to do everything you can to avoid probate. The judges do not care about you, your families, your final wishes, or anything really. My family was robbed and the judge was well aware but did nothing. He absolutely could have intervened at any time. The gross negligence, failure of fiduciary duties, etc... was blatantly obvious yet ignored. I don't want another family to get drug around for a decade like me, my sisters, and brother have. Do everything you can to keep out of the Tarrant County Probate Court. read more

It's really difficult for me to give a courthouse more than 2 stars. Why, you ask? BECAUSE!! You're either on Jury Duty, or you're getting sued or you're accused of a crime, THAT'S why! As far as this place goes, the building is at least kept clean, which is more than I can say for Dallas! Not enough elevators by a long shot, so get ready to stand in a long line or clinb a ton of stairs. As for parking, there is a pay lot that is slightly less expensive than DFW Airport. I mean, outrageous! There are a lot of meters, and I can usually get one of those, but there is a two hour limit. The people who work here are pretty friendly, i mean for a courthouse and all. I was summoned to appear and make a plea on a dispute back in June 2010 after first filing initally in 08. The judicial system on all ends of the spectrum is so messed up. This is why so many of our electoral candidates are getting caught up in not utilizing our hard paying tax dollars wisely and doing the sole governed jobs that we put them in office to do and oversee. CLUCK!! Every time I going to the main courts to serve duty, hearings or any legal means I truly hate it. They are so off base professionally and time security management. With out up in coming elections in May hopefully we can do a better job and our electors will get governmental offices and make our tax paying monies work some what to our most needed advantage. On a good note during this visit my case went in my favor and that victorious moment was worth the hassle and meter extra payment...:)( read more

I live in San Antonio TX And I have a family court case in Tarrant county because ten years ago I got divorced there. I am representing myself and rely on the information resources of the courts and internet. I had to go to several buildings to file a motion and let me tell how amazing every single person is at the Fort Worth Coutgouse and surrounding legal buildings! Helpful, considerate, and professional are all understatements. The Only reason they don't get 5 starts is because how rude, unprofessional, and callus Priscilla, the 324th coordinator was. She spoke at me and not to me. She would interrupt and constantly tell me there was no questions or information she could give me that would assist me on my navigation of what to do. I understand the limits of assistance employees can offer, but I don't understand her need to be ugly. read more

So...yes, technically I was at the Tarrant County Courthouse today. That much is true. And although I'd love to spin some sort of maudlin tale of my dust-up with the law, alas (I'll let you employ your own finger quotes), this was a more perfunctory stop, and quick dive-in to nail down some details on my way to something else. I am, as it turns out, not particularly gangsta. And I do think you can point to my expectation of time here by virtue of the fact that I paid for $1.75 in parking, which was probably about a dollar and a half more than necessary. I don't think I'm going out on some intellectual limb when I mention that occasionally time spent in government buildings may make time spent in doctor's office waiting rooms seem like a breeze in the park. Lingering is typical. Typically there are numbers called, the drone office employee working by a set of rules not quite clear to the general public (or perhaps not explained until your particular moment of truth), and thus, to ensure your obligation, you show early, wait late, ask a few questions (but not too many) and hope, only to occasionally be surprised when the court sees you show on time and without incident. I guess there's an entire societal underbelly that exists that help set the bar of expectations low. That said, this wasn't that at all. This was a stop in to line up voter registration information, and I'll be Boss Tweed (look it up) if this wasn't easy; the staff ready, the effort painless. In fact, all told stem to stern the whole affair lasted less than ten or fifteen minutes. So while I can't vouch for everything that goes down here, it sure looks like they were on the ball this day. What do you want from it...it's a courthouse?! Still, it is a architectural jewel, just like many of the old county courthouses in Texas. The only courts still located here are the County Courts at Law for Tarrant County (Nos. 1-3). The County Clerk is also here (on the 1st floor), and the deed records/assumed name records/plats (basement). The county law library can also be found here on the 4th floor. The courts here will run you through a case quicker than the district courts, and the building has pretty good air conditioning, meaning you will stay comfortable through trial even in the middle of summer. That's about all a lawyers (or his client) can ask for! read more

The people in the car tags office are lazy and disgusting. I got there 15 minutes before they closed because I have a job. All 3 ladies sat there waiting to see who was going to budge and greet me first like it was Russian roulette because all they cared about was getting out of there. After the lady helped while going out of her way to show how mad she was that she may get out 5 minutes passed her shift said to me as we were wrapping up that next time out of common courtesy and respect not to show up if they close within 30 minutes. WTF, taxpayers pay you and your governmental job.... Horrible experience! Her boss was there listening and didn't interject, even worse. If I could do negative 5 stars I would!!! read more
