Made an appt at 9am and despite arriving a little after due to traffic and trying to find parking - they still honored my appt. time. They copy your documents, take your payment and run you through the visit efficiently and professionally. It was easy in and out in just a few minutes. I spent more time looking for parking. Everyone says to park at Terminal C, which is where the office is next to - but tbh, any terminal parking would be good - it's better to check on the JWA/SNA website to see parking lot availability before driving over. TSA Precheck is worth the cost - $85 for five years - especially if you travel often or plan to travel at least 1-2 times each year (holidays). read more

The office was clean and staff was extremely helpful and efficient. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes! The office is at the lower level, terminal C (Arrivals). But the terminal C parking is only available at upper level (Departures) . Here is a quick tip to save you time: use Departure lanes and park the car at terminal C, upper level. Made an appointment for 8:50am on a Thursday morning and when I arrived there were no other people there, so maybe walk-in would've been okay too. No wait at all! PARKING: It's $2/hr and even though the office is downstairs on the Arrivals floor, parking is upstairs at Departures so park in Terminal C, which will be on your right, NOT the left where Terminal A and Terminal B parking is. Park near the elevators and you can take it right down to Arrivals. Once you enter Terminal C, the office will be on your left. Staff was really friendly and I was in and out in like 10 minutes. Make sure you have all your paperwork and you should be good. If you do have to wait, at least there are seats outside for you to hang out in! read more

We applied for TSA pre-check online and got reservations at other locations. Neither of which were convenient or local or the correct time that we wanted. So we ended up showing up at the TSA office at terminal C at John Wayne airport. We were met was very nice receptionist. Told us that we might have to wait up to an hour but that was OK with us. They did end up taking us in in less than 30 minutes, both my husband and I, and the process took less than five minutes per person. We were in and out. They said they process 80 to 90 people per day. They were very kind and helpful. Would recommend this location very much. Thank you for your help today. We had filled out all the necessary applications through the TSA website before we arrive which made the process that much easier. read more

No wait! We completed the easy online enrollment at home but found the next available office appointment was 4 weeks away. To circumvent this, my boyfriend and I walked-in around 6:45am on a Tuesday and were the only enrollees there. I feel like we spent more time looking for parking than being processed (10 minutes for each of us). P.S.- The TSA employees who assisted us were very friendly and helpful. read more

Even though an appointment is recommended by the TSA Precheck website, you could just walk in and apply. I did the application process online, then made an appointment. It was set a few weeks out but I wasn't in a hurry for my KTN. If you are, you can chance the line by doing a walk-in. When I arrived at 1:30 pm on a Wednesday, it was empty aside from the TSA employees. They try to get everyone in and out within 6-8 minutes so you could essentially do this before or after your flight at John Wayne Airport. They scan your passport, your fingerprints, and ask you a few basic questions. Park in Lot C because the office is in Terminal C. I made the mistake of parking in Lot A and had to walk clear across the airport to get to the office. The office is located on the lower level arrivals area. The application fee is $85 but when approved your TSA Precheck KTN is good for 5 years. This is great if you fly a lot or if you like the convenience of not having to take your shoes off, take your liquids out, or being stuck in airport security in general. Yes, it's steep but if you're a frequent flier at all, you want this. read more

Definitely fill out an application online. universalenroll.dhs.gov DEFINITELY make an appointment. Walk-ins are accepted but can be expected to wait up to 40mins if all appointments show up. Better to be sure that you're in and out especially with parking. Speaking of parking, access to terminal C parking is thru the departures level (upper level) then follow arrows down to 2 hour parking. First 15 minutes is free, if you have an appointment, you'll be in and out you won't need to pay for parking. You'll need more than just a driver's license, so take your current passport or start looking for your original birth certificate now! read more

One word - smooth... I was pleasantly surprised how easy and straightforward it was to book an appointment and get through the first step of TSA Pre check. There was no line, no waiting. I went in expecting (a blinding light in my face) interrogation. There was nothing of the sort and the friendly representative asked basic questions about my personal data, fingerprinted me and I was on my way out so fast that my parking was only $1. I am not completely sure what the next steps are but am hopeful to get approved in a month or so and finally get to keep my shoes on again at the Airport! Pinch me I think I was dreaming. I never realized that our government could be work efficiently until my visit to the TSA Precheck Office. And a government agency that had great customer service to boot. Did I mention it was the TSA? What's up? I'll start by saying that in the course of my day job I have numerous interactions with government agencies and customer service is, let's just say is not their strong suit. They have no issue with making me wait for hours and hours just to pay them a permit fee, the wait times on phone calls to ask a very simple question then to get "it's not my department" and the old bounce around the voicemail system because nobody appears to want to help. Watcha gonna do? Your gonna suck it up Buttercup because you ain't taking your business around the corner. Having my expectations set really low I logged onto the TSA webpage and filled out the simple form and set an appointment. When the day of my appointment came I headed to the office expecting to be jerked around and forced to wait endlessly to be called on. Was I surprised when I showed up a little early with my passport in hand. There was just a single agent that was assisting somebody else. I was called in early after a few minute wait. A friendly agent scanned my passport, did a little typing on his end and had me signed a form, I paid my fee and I was on my way within 15 minutes after arriving. read more

Went in today (a Saturday) because I had the afternoon free. I did not have an appointment but I did complete the online application. Arrived at 1215 and waited in the space outside the office -as they are closed 12-1230 (for lunch I presume) I was the only person waiting and when the gentleman arrived back he escorted me in and the process took about 5 minutes. There was no one else waiting when I walked out. Gentleman helping me was very polite and even humorous. Made the process quick and painless. A few tips: -be sure to complete the online application so you don't have to waste their time at the office entering it for you. -you'll get a confirmation # (UE ID) in your email, have it handy just in case - my application would not pull up by phone number but the confirmation number worked. -Park in the Terminal C garage for the shortest walk (parking is $2/hr). The office is in the C terminal on the arrivals level (baggage claim) across from the info desk on the far end. There is signage on the lower level pointing you there. -I had no wait and but would advise bringing reading material as others have incurred several hour waits. I think I was lucky because it's a Saturday, but who knows. It probably would be wise to have an appointment if you don't want to risk it. read more

I didn't realize they would be taking a photo so that was the only piece I wasn't prepared for. Parking was only $1 for the time that I was there. Unfortunately I couldn't get my pre check done because my driver's license was expired (resolved that). Came back today to get it done but it's closed!! After reviewing the yelp reviews, I took the recommendation and arrived shortly after 6am Saturday morning. The TSA employees actually get there before the posted time of 8am. They arrive and get started with walk-ins at 730am. You'll notice a mad rush of walk-ins at 8am. I overheard people getting turned away once the list exceeds 25 names for walk-ins. My recommendation is get there before 8am for a higher chance of being seen. The TSA employees were very friendly and easy to work with. I actually got my KTN that same day, within 10 hours of applying!! read more

The people working this office are friendly and efficient. Due to recent news reports lots of people are registering for TSA PreCheck and wait time for walk-in can be 2+ hours. I got here one morning at 6:30 without an appointment and was 10th in line. I was seen 2 hours later. My interview was quick and easy, maybe 5 minutes long. People with appointments were seen very quickly upon arrival. With the current rush, I recommend an appointment, or walk-in between 6-6:30 and be prepared to wait. Even with the wait I felt like the staff were working hard to have everyone seen as quickly as possible. I can't wait to get approved (it takes 1-2 weeks after your appointment) and skip the TSA lines for the next 5 years! read more

So today I decided to try walk-in since there were no appointment times that worked for me when I applied online and my passport is expiring TOMORROW. Waited just shy of 2 hours and it may seem like a long time but it passed by pretty quickly actually. Try the 'bathroom trick.' Wait 'til you just can't bear to wait any longer and then head to the bathroom; by the time you get back, you're sure to be called next. Worked for me lol. FYI: -the airport wifi doesn't reach this section of Terminal C -park in Terminal C parking; despite it being in the Departures floor of the airport, when you enter the airport, head to Arrivals to get to the parking lot (I circled the airport 4 times before finally getting to the parking structure) read more

The first time I showed up it was on a Saturday, and I arrived at 8:00am right when the office opened. There were maybe 20 people already in line. I waited in line for an hour and was told when I got to the check-in desk that it would be a 3 HOUR wait until I was seen and that was at a minimum. I couldn't wait that long on top of how long I had already been there so I left. I waited a week and tried again on a Saturday. I showed up at 7:00am this time and there were only 5 people already in line. I was seen within an hour of the office opening. If you're going to come here definitely get here at least an hour early and bring stuff to camp out with, the wait time is unpredictable. read more

My family and I went in this Monday morning without appointments, got there at 620am and all three of us were out by 650am. The process takes a little less than 10 minutes per person if you've already pre-enrolled online before walking in to the office. Came in at 7 am on Saturday to find a line of about 8 folks deep. I didn't have an appointment, but still managed to get out of there within 45 minutes. Very friendly and helpful staff. Be sure to come prepared with your paperwork and identification. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the hours of operation. I wish they were open later during the weekdays. Why did I wait so long? If you fly a lot or if you are planning a trip at some point in the future I can't recommend enough getting TSA Precheck status. The process is so easy. It's does cost $85.00 but it's so worth $85.00 not to have to wait in line at the security check point. I started the application process 5 days before I left for a business trip not expecting that I would have my Known Traveler Number (KTN) in time to use for that trip. After completing the application process I made an appointment for the next day to visit the TSA Precheck Office. I arrived early not knowing what to expect and they got me in ahead of my scheduled appointment time. I found the people working there to be extremely nice, knowledgeable and efficient. They helped me complete the application process and had me on my way in less than 10 minutes. I was told that if I checked online in about 10 days I might have my KTN and that I would receive written notice in about 30 days. I checked the status of my application 3 days later and already had been assigned a KTN, which I was able to use on my upcoming trip the next day. I received written confirmation 10 days later. The process of using the Precheck line at the airport is fantastic. You don't have to take your shoes off, you don't have to remove your belt, and you don't have to remove your laptop from you bags. I flew through security in less than 5 minutes and was waiting at my gate feeling like I had skipped school or gotten away with doing something wrong. What a rush! If you are a frequent flyer like me you have to get this right away. If you only fly occasionally you have to get this. If you're only going to fly once in your life you have to get this. These folks have this process down to a science. Yesterday, I completed pre-enrollment forms online for my wife & I. This morning we drove down to SNA to complete the process as walk-ins. Our parking receipt shows we entered the parking lot at 10:59 AM and left at 11:38 AM.....39-minutes. Even more impressive are the time stamps on our enrollment receipts; mine shows the transaction completed at 11:23 AM, while my wife's is 11:28 AM. The process takes only 5-6 minutes per person if you have pre-enrolled online. The fee is a little pricey at $85. However, it is good for 5-years. Congratulations to TSA for a job well done in a superior manner! read more

Great experience! I pre-enrolled online. I couldn't find convenient time for appointment so decided to try walk-in here today. (Saturday). Arrived at 6:50am, I was 3rd in line for walk-in. Place doesn't open until 8am, but staff arrived shortly before 7:30am. Gentlemen was very kind and friendly when he arrived and opened office. Just before 8am he began taking our names and we all sat down. There were probably 7-8 people by 8am. He then started calling walk-ins before 8am. They take your fingerprints and payment and you are done in less than 5 min after they call you. I was gone by 8:05-8:10am. Easy! Remember the appointments have priority. Appointments started at 8:10 I believe. So those after me in line (walk in) may have a little longer to wait. Thank you pre-check staff for being kind and friendly.
