I went in to the office to apply for Medicare Part B benefits, submitted the required forms , not 24 hrs later I get email message stating my application for benefits was denied. Call 6 times, get runaround from rude people and no one can tell me why it's denied . My friend finally figures it out, go back to the office . Their staff submitted my form incorrectly so benefits weren't going to start for several months and not when I need them to start as I am retiring soon . So have to disenroll and reenroll In Medicare , get a really off hand non apology , apology and also lied and say they tried to contact me which they didnt. If my friend hadn't figured it out I would probably still be calling or would have to postpone my retirement . Would be nice if they submitted your forms correctly and paid attention instead of rushing you out. If anyone on the 6 phone calls I made had really listened to me they should have been able to figure it out. Very upsetting and unnecessary experience. Well, this is not about the people working, but rather about the connectivity of networks in the waiting room..It's so unstable..But i think it's mostly depends on what kind of network you have..Mine is AT&T and it has only 1 bar..Idk if it's because of the location of the office or the quality of the network..But apparently it's most likely because of the connection quality...But must tell you that people with appointments are given priority..But there are things that you simply can't get an appointment by doing it online because you can't find it there..So your best option is to call them and wait on the line to speak with an agent..And times vary.. read more

I walked in without an apt, checked in at the kiosk, waited until my ticket was called, got to the window and was told she couldn't help me because I didn't have an apt. I asked then why did it let me check in? She said it's your responsibility to read the sign on the door and on the website. The little 8x11 sign not taped on the door???? Surprisingly, I must have gone at the right time because I had no issues here! I recently got married and needed to update my last name. I went in on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 around 1:45pm with NO appointment. There was only 1 woman in there at a window and the security guard. SUPER EMPTY. I signed in on the kiosk and waited about 5 mins before they called my number to a separate window I didn't know was open other than the woman still getting help at her window. I don't know his name but the man who helped me was cordial and nice. The whole process took about 10 mins and we had nice small talk and a couple laughs throughout it. Then, I was out! Super quick, super easy. They said it would be in the system in 24 hours. Sorry to the ones who had bad experiences :/ That's what I was afraid of. Glad it went well on my end and hope others have a better experience too! read more

And then we have the SSA, who still feel it's necessary to remain closed and force people to MAIL precious documents like marriage certificates and passports because they refuse to help people in person. Extremely rude. The dark haired lady working there treats you like a second class citizen, constantly sighing and rolling her eyes at you. She would not even look at my documents, stating that they were invalid, until her coworker had to explain to her the policy changed. Came in today to obtain a replacement social security card for my son so I could file my taxes. Yes, I wait til the very last minute to file my taxes, don't judge me. The only other time I have been to the social security office is when they used to be located on Lyons Ave in Newhall. Based on those experiences, I expected to be waiting in a line out the door, in a non-airconditioned little room and deal with disorganization and rude, disenchanted staff. I don't know what they have done to change their practices, besides their location, but I couldn't have been more wrong and more further from the truth. I walked into a cool, clean room, was immediately greeted by a security guard and instructed to check in on a computer screen and sat down. There was only approximately 6 other people in the room. I checked in, sat down and realized I should probably find the form I need to fill out out to save myself some time. After being directed to where the forms were by security and subsequently finding them, my number was called to a window. I looked around, amazed, thinking they couldn't have just called my number. Sure enough, upon arriving to the window, I confirmed who they called and almost had a heart attack that it was mine. I asked if I had the correct form so I could fill it out while speaking with the clerk, but she said, "Don't worry about it. I'll take care of it." Again, I almost went into cardiac arrest at this pleasant news. She proceeded to ask me some questions, took the identification and processed my request. I even got a smile at the end. I was at the office for exactly 10 minutes! I don't know if I caught them on a perfect day or what, but they definitely earned 5 stars for this visit. read more

First of all, I like the building. It is Morden fashion looking and very very clean there. Especially if you compare with the DMV in the down. LOL. The first time when I was there, totally felt in different world. Secondly, big parking place, you may not get the closet parking but there are a lot additional parking down to the building. Make the life a lot easier when you can park quick. (I guess I am so stressed when compare with DMV). Thirdly, staffs there are super nice. Every time if I need do anything there, always meet great people and service. Last but not least, I never make appt. when go there, but still get quick service. (I know, compare with DMV, even you made appt. there but still feel you did not. Oops, compare with DMV again. Lol) Overall, good people here! read more

So I have to go to the local Social Security office to get a replacement card for myself. The SCV one is located in what is two adjoined office buildings in the same home as the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints. Because you need a lot of praying to survive waiting for your number to get called. You enter the SSA offices and there's this half asleep security guard and before you can say anything, he points you to this touchscreen kiosk with an antiquated case that looks like it came from an old Asteroids game case from the 1980's. You have to then pick one of four choices (yes! there's a multiple choice test! And I didn't study!) and depending on your selection, a piece of paper comes out with your fortune and today's lottery numbers. Well, not really but it sounded like it should. Actually it's just like a supermarket deli where a number comes out and then you sit down and just wait. Only it's more confusing that that. There's actually three sets of numbers. One is just a number, the next (mine) starts with the latter A and the next with the letter B. Why? Because it all depends on what you're here for. And in my case, I had an A120 and they were up to A118 on the screen. OK, great! Should be just a couple of minutes before my number is called. But again, it doesn't work that way. The numbers without the letters get called faster. So when I checked in, the number on the left was at 18 and by the time they called my number it was at 26. So it was really more like a half hour wait. Not much you can really do while waiting. I used my phone to surf some sites and check my email even though there's a sign saying 'No Cell Phones'. There's also one for 'No Food or Beverages' as well so there goes my order a pizza from Guido's around the corner idea. Oh and if you want to go to the bathroom, you have to take these big keys like at some of the dirtier service stations. Fun. Only other option is to look at the various SSA posters promoting the website with....I'm not making this up....George Takei in his old 60s Star Trek garb alongside this girl Peggy. Now I don't recall a Peggy from Star Trek and it's not the burly 'Peggy' from the Discover ads. I assume it's some Peggy from the SSA HQ in DC or wherever. Still, to see a poster saying 'Oh, my! It's so easy!' is just so odd here. Well, it was either that or look at the Spanish Dom Francisco posters I cannot comprehend. When I finally did get my number called, the person at the desk was very nice and cordial and it only took a few minutes to get the card ordered. Which I'll assume I'll have in two weeks. Or not. OK, like the DMV the SSA office is one of those necessary evils we're occasionally stuck with. Just remember to bring a magazine or be stuck looking at George Takei's mug for half an hour. We were assisted by Lily, who unfortunately was beyond rude, making statements like "I don't care what you do" to some of our questions. Lily was extremely unprofessional, cold, extremely callous, and was uninterested in assisting us. I went in today which is a Tuesday. There was about 15-20 people in the room. I walk up to the kiosk I needed to change my name and update that I'm a us citizen now. I asked the security guard where I could get the form to fill out meanwhile I'm waiting. He pointed towards the side I grabbed the form. I was filling it out when they called my number. I was kind of confused because I had just walked in and got a number. I walked up to the window and asked to repeat the number and yes it was my number I was surprised. The lady who helped me was very nice she congratulated me on becoming a citizen she was excited for me. She was really nice and helped me out. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. read more

The woman wouldn't accept my daughter's paperwork because my 17 year old daughter had neglected to write the date next to her signature. One of the security guards here went above and beyond his call of duty. He greeted me and as I looked confused with machine you check in with, he came up and helped me through it. I saw him helping out other individuals as well. Then we got a new security guard towards the afternoon and he didn't do as much. I waited about an hour for a name change. This is my first yelp review and just have to write the inefficiency of this office. I went two days in arrow to apply for Medicare. I went July 13, I was number 32 and that was at 10:02:54AM. I was so glad that I was called at approximately 30-35 minutes and I was thinking that was not too painful. The lady that helped me was cold and did not even have a smile on her face. I was told the person helping out with the Medicare applications had too many people scheduled that day and I have a choice of making an appointment and the next available date will be on August 31 or come back the next day. I decided to return the next day 07/15 and I was # 10 at 09:35:50 AM to be exact. The same lady help me with the same cold treatment and was told the same thing that no one can help me with the Medicare application. I either apply on line, return to the office without an appointment or make an appointment which will in September. She looks like she is not happy to work there and help clients. I told her that I will be returning back to work on the available appointment days. Not everyone feels comfortable applying on line. I noticed that the person helping with the Medicare application on window #1 rolled her window down after serving client #8 at approximately 10:00 AM.I understand that they could be short staffed and especially on Wednesdays they closed at 12:00 PM. If they know that they can only serve 8 clients for that day why can't they make an extra effort to identify clients that are waiting for Medicare applications and notify them that they have reached their quota for that day instead making you wait for a whole hour. I would rather be turned away early on rather than waste time waiting for nothing. I don't know if it is possible with their computer system. Two stars for clean, private, convenient location with plenty of parking. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I've gone in twice now to change my name to my new married name and both times they failed to send out my card. I went in March, never received my card. Went back in April and never received anything. I finally called the 1-800 number and turns out the office never submitted a request for a replacement card. They changed my name but didn't request my new card. So now they said I need to go back AGAIN and redo the process all over again. So sick of this office! read more

I came here to get benefits for my daughter's medical condition, but the older lady that serviced me didn't even look at her medical records and had the nerve to tell me to wait until she's 18 before applying which is a lie! The Guy that works at window 3 was so rude, do not confuse him the bald headed guy with the glasses. I think that guy sits at window 2 hes pretty professional. The guy at window 3 treated me more like a criminal being investigated by a detective, now i know a interview is necessary but he asked me questions i found a little odd, especially since they were not having to do with question's about getting my replacement card. First question he asked me was "Did i have my id"? i told him no but i do have my work certification id with a picture which i was told i can use in place of my id. The guy then looked at it with the most rude confused look and said " what is this" ? as he flipped it over back and forth , next he asked me , " you came way out here for a social security card" and unforuntaley i had to explain to him that its very crowded down here in the sanfernando valley and theres alot more people and the wait is longer. Since when was it a bad thing or against the law to go to a office outside of where you live, so rude my mother came here to get her social before and she said the lady simply asked her the questions needed to get her replacement card and that was it . Im not sure why this guy gave me a hard time, i hope it wasnt profiling because i feel like it was. We needed to update my wife's social security information after we tried to file an appeal (unsuccessfully) online on the SSA website. We arrived at around 2:45 pm on a rainy afternoon and were pleasantly surprised by the efficiency and presentation of this office. There is plenty of free parking outside (unlike the Santa Monica SSA office where the parking is limited), there are no homeless people panhandling outside the office door (as there are in the Inglewood SSA office we'd been to recently) and the staff are friendly and helpful. The complete antithesis of what you expect in interactions with the Federal Government. We sat down after entering our information in the electronic welcome kiosk and it printed out a ticket (we didn't have any prior appointment). We waited for about 45 minutes before the number was called and the agent was very helpful. While we were waiting, several staff walked into the seating area and asked what type of service the visitors were here for. Those who needed to update or replace their social security cards were given forms to fill in and the staff took them into the office area and completed them before returning to the waiting 5-10 mins later with the SSA letter printed out for the applicant to check. No visit to the window, no fill this in and come back, and all conducted with courtesy and friendliness. The agent who helped us retrieved a paper form for us to fill out and then entered it into the computer and explained that we'd get a letter in 2-3 days confirming the changes to my wife's SSI. Job done, thank you very much! The next time we need to deal with the SSA, we will definitely use this office as it is head and shoulders above the other SSA offices we've visited. read more

My visit to this office was a good experience. Staff was pleasant and attentive. Got all my questions answer without any problems.

No cellphones sign clearly posted in the waiting area but people are using them to make calls in right front of the security officer. The security officer is engaged in a long conversation with a young lady at least for 10 minutes now and is neglecting his duty. Unfortunately taking pictures inside the area is prohibited and cannot take pictures of him just standing around and talking to the woman. BTW he is still talking to the woman as I am just about post this review. read more
