My husbands disability social security packet arrived in the mail, with duplicates and we were not sure if we had to fill out the 14 pages ( times two) and also didn't know how to answer a couple of things. Rather than call, we live close to this office so we decided to go in person. The security guard was super nice and friendly asking us what we came in to do and if we had an appointment. We did not, so we had to take a number and wait about 20 minutes or so. He was so kind and helpful to all, greeting them ad they walked in, and saying "ok have a great day" as they walked out. The lady that we saw was patient snd explained everything to us. We were only supposed to get one set of pages 1-14 and she entered all the answers into the system that we had already done, and as for what we needed clarification on, she was very helpful and cleared it up. 5 stars for her! She said we should expect to see another set of pages come in the next couple of weeks and if we had more questions to come and see her! A lot of it was repetitive, we had no problem filling it out, but my husband did go in person to turn it in rather than put it in the mail. ( This was right during the primary voting so we didn't want it to be delayed). This is a very long review , but I hope it encourages someone to go in, and get help or clarification on SS paperwork. read more

Wow today I went to the Social Security in Vallejo to apply for Medicare A . I really dreaded it because of the bad reviews.. However the Social Security Lady Lashonda Webb that helped me was so pleasant and had a smile on her face. She helped me with such grace .I was so relieved with her kindness.I hope when I have to come back in two years that I get her. I visited on 2/25/26 for some assistance, My experience at this location was pleasant, the wait was a little heavy, yet the place was tranquil, clean; the staff friendly and aware of everyone's needs. Their security guard on point, alert and in great service, he called me out when I was too close to the check in, unaware, he pointed to the red sign and politely asked me to wait further back to respect the privacy of others, he would assist the elderly when they couldn't hear the muffled audible calls or see the screen. I was deeply moved by all of this, and am grateful for the security and experience. Since I came in a little late I wasn't able to complete my appeal due to consideration for closing, yet I believe her name was Betty or Becky printed out all the steps and paperwork needed, I am grateful for she have the best service due to her limitations. read more

I always hear horror stories about coming in to Social Security without an appointment, but my experience was quite pleasant. I came in today without an appointment, checked in to get a number, and I was helped within 20 minutes. I needed a replacement card for my son, and while I did have my application prepared, I didn't have the supporting documentation to get my card. Ms Mayfield, the person who was helping me was very patient, knowledgeable, and helped me get the necessary documents in order. Next time I need something Social Security related, I'm going here. Quick and friendly. You have to follow the rules to ere otherwise the security guard is going to pay you a visit. No phone calls allowed inside. I took my call anyways lol but seriously don't do it because we all know how hard it is to be seen by someone from the SS office. I was in and out in less than 45 minutes so it's a good look. Go early and you'll have a better chance of getting in and out much quicker than I did. Hope this helps. read more

I realized I had a problem with my first Social Security payment about 1230pm. I went to the Social Security office without an appointment on 2/27/25 and arrived at 255pm. I did not expect to be seen but I thought I would give it a try. Despite the notices outside regarding the necessity of an appointment, I was pleasantly greeted and assisted by the security guard to input my information. I was given a number and offered a seat while I waited. I was helped relatively quickly. The lovely lady who assisted me was helpful, made the necessary changes and gave me all the information I needed to follow up and remedy my problem on my bank's side of the situation. My experience was quick and pleasant from start to finish. I was out of the office a few minutes after 4pm. I did not expect my visit to be quick, easy or pleasant and they were all 3. I went to Social Security Office in Vallejo, Friday, February 7,2025 without an appointment, basing on my previous bad experience with agency I went there just before they open, and sure enough there was like 15 people ahead of me, but was surprise by how fast the line was moving. I have been here several times and they are always very helpful! Especially today when I was helped by Eva! I came in to get proof of the withholding payments I would be making for the next year! Instead she helped me to only pay 1/3 over 36 months so that I would have money to survive! I see Eva and others treating the disabled very well! VISIT 1 (1/4/23): It felt like a good experience (under 1 hour) until I found out they messed up my name. CARD ARRIVAL (1/12/23): Came a week sooner than the estimated two weeks given by the first lady. However, this is when I learned that the representative at this office misspelled my middle name, so I had to return for a correction. I'm very disappointed and not looking forward to wasting my time. Now, I wish they had shown me the final input before sending it off. VISIT 2 (1/13/23): Service was quick, and this different rep printed the update to show me so I could confirm address, name, etc. She said it was part of the process. So the other lady definitely skipped steps. However, the security officer dropped my bag when handing it back to me WHILE I was still signing in. It had my laptop in it, and he made me drop my phone as I was holding it in one hand while typing on the sign-in screen on the other. Also, he wouldn't let me in without asking me why I was there. Not a problem, until when I told him I was here to make a correction, he made a statement "oh, you didn't confirm it was correct the first time?" No sh-t dude. Do you think I wanted it to be wrong the first time? TBH 1 star for this super annoying guard trying too hard, and the first person who messed my record up. The last lady was fine, and the first guard was a million times better but let's see if the organization finds another way to mess up. read more

I had a restroom emergency & the rent a cop at the front desk was angry I didn't ask for his permission?? And just who on earth does he think he is?? Joe Biden?? If I want to use the restroom in a government building I am free to do so. His exact words to me were, "were you coming in here because you need services, or just to use the bathroom?" & I said, "I only needed to use the bathroom" & he told me, "it would be nice if you asked to use the bathroom." SSA in Vallejo is the best! I have been waiting for my SSN for a few weeks but it hasn't arrived. I've been calling the SSA hotline but no help so I decided to call Vallejo office. They answered quickly and advised me to walk-in and apply personally. I was with my aunt and upon entry we were greeted by a very nice, approachable and professional security guard Mr Robinson. They are very organized and clean. Processing including waiting time was roughly 40 min from entry. I did not mind waiting because I do not have an appointment anyway but the lady who processed my SSN card was super nice as well. Super satisfied with their services. read more

I decided to go personally to the SSA to inquire about adding part b to my Medicare and got the most rude person to handle my inquiry. I mean the black lady and I'm also black was talking to me as if I was a kid. She was totally unprofessional and lack knowledge of her job because she hardly let me finish my questions before rudely giving me an answer. I haven't been here for a long time. A lot has changed such as the seating, a flat screen that tells you about the queue and its numerical values. I understand that Vallejo is well populated; this place is always very busy. Perhaps they can offer seminars on how to do much of the things online as that will reduce the crowd. One thing that I like about this location is it's parking. Huge parking lot that is shared with Costco, so no shortage of parking here. This place could be a little better and the staff could be more professional and not answer their personal cell phones during an appointment. That's one of the reasons am giving three stars but am still being generous. read more

I had to change my name on my Social Security card, so I stopped by the office. The guard at the front inspected my purse, and right as I was about to check in I noticed that they made appointments, and there were quite a few people waiting. I asked the guard if I could get the number so I could come back when I had an appointment. He said no pictures allowed but I could enter it into my phone. I went home and promptly called and was told they didn't make appointments for name changes. Really!!! Wish I would've known I would've waited. So a few days later I went back. I had to wait around 45 minutes to finally meet with the person who actually processed the name change. I had to check in at the computer, wait and check in with a person and then finally meet with the the person who processed the request. Lots of hoops to jump through to get a name change. I have to admit this to you. Anytime I see a new dwelling coming up in Vallejo, I get a little excited. The normal thought is: "Something new in Vallejo. I wonder what it is going to be. We never get anything new. Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!" Imagine my disappointment years ago when this building was going up and they finally signed it with "Social Security Administration" What a let down. Social Security Administration? I was hella pissed. Why the heck would you place a brand spanking new government building next to the Costco gas station and Vallejo commerce central?? I remember thinking they should have put it downtown with the rest of the government city dwellings. When am I ever going to need to go to this place? Maybe in 20-30 years when I retire. So, I thought... Fast forward to last week. I get this email from a mystery corporate person within my work organization. Apparently, Homeland Security has alerted them that they have an employee that shows a different name than the records they are reporting on. Of course, this worries everyone who now thinks I am illegal or something after a couple of decades of employment. A dam impostor among them. So......since I need my job and don't want to be deported, or something--I venture over to the good ole SSA office. WOW @ the public sector. Near new on the outside, archaic prison inside. All gray...seats, walls, floors, walls, moods. However, the experience itself was not as bad as I expected. They have this real weird take a number system. I wont bore you with the details....just very confusing. The workers? Very nice. It took me three trips and different pieces of proof to get it taken care of. But this was not fault of them. I just wished certain documentation would be enough but of course they need real official official stuff to fix a name. DUH VIRGO!!!! 3 STARS SSA....and thanks for being so CLOSE to home. Imagine if I had to go all the way to Fairfield....that woulda sucked. Now, if I could just figure out what is gonna go into that big slow moving empty lot developing up the hill. Any clues yelpers? I wouldn't be rating a SS office but I have been to two others recently that were like third world countries so I was a bit apprehensive. The security is pretty aggressive which made waiting the 45 minutes awful. No drinks aloud inside and your bags/purses will be checked upon entry. I did not make an appointment ahead of time and wished I had. The customer service at the window was good. That was probably the most redeeming quality about this location. read more

Well, I have to go back in this morning. It's really not as bad as Antioch or Walnut Creek, where I usually went since I just moved to Vallejo from CCC. Let me tell you, finding the place was a PAIN in the BUTT! I had to finally call the Administration 800 number and they told me about the Costco gas station. Now I donlt know if that is Google's fault or mine since I can get lost anywhere, but that confusion really got on my nerves. I always go to the Admin office AFTER 10am to let the crowd thin. When I do, I always go right up to the kiosk and put in my info. Now, for me, this system really made sense. It was not confusing at all and I just zipped through it. I honestly don't know why people say it's confusing. Here is the breakdown: 1) Language (English or Spanish) 2)Do you have an appointment? (yes or no) 3) What is your business? (New SSA card, Submit documents, Something else and other) (Now I always hit 'Other' because my business is not listed) (Should not be hard people, if you don't see what you need, hit 'other') 4)Your SSA number 5) Congratulatons, you have your wait number!!!! The wait is not too long. I don't think I have waited not even an hour for what I need. The people are very helpful and friendly even. You don't get that often at at Government building. As a treat, I go to Starbucks after...but that's another review. read more

We've been going to this SSA branch for years now because of location convenience. The wait is always long. If you try to make an appointment by phone, service is just as bad. For example, going on 2-1/2 weeks and three phone calls going on 4, you still will not have an actual appointment date. Staff who answer the phone will sometimes transfer your call while you're still talking and none of the receiving staff returns the call. So, how would a "call to make an appointment" system work if none of the employees call back when you leave a message or even messages? Very unprofessional and inefficient. read more
