Sadly, the lady at the front desk, Linda, thinks she bosses the place. She tells other workers not to do their jobs. She hangs up on callers who want to file a complaint on her. She does not know the law regarding public records requests. She tries to talk over clients and other workers' conversations. And she's all the time using her personal cellphone to record while she's at work. This has to be against policy. Jose did do his job, but afterwards he let the visitor know that a public records request was taking him away from his job. That's not the way a state employee should talk to a member of the public. Taking PRRs is part of the job. This could've been the easiest, most pleasant interaction in their day, but because the man was recording (totally within his rights) they had a fit. Linda even put a bag over her head, but she didn't let that stop her from talking over people, interrupting visitors, and making passive aggressive remarks to insult them.

Vallejo City Hall is a very nice place and I'm giving stars JUST for the security lady who is just so cool and smiling and funny...great hire right there, city of Vallejo! Also thanks to the very patient folks in traffic division who are trying really hard to get everyone to go along with all the crazy changes we're seeing here in town. I like also that the information boards are full of great stuff to read and shows that transparency in government is alive here. Here are some tips for success: 1- Call the SSA's 800 # to make an appointment for this office. At the same time ask the person what you should prepare to bring with you (forms, id, other members of the family, etc etc); 2- Arrive for your appt 10 min early so you have time to get through the security check (similar to TSA at airport). There is plenty of FREE Parking there! 3- Be kind to the security check people -- they're just doing their job. 4- Have everything in hand for your appt, so when you're called to go to a Window, you're ready. They will first ask for your ID. 5- Both times I visited this office, the window agents were first rate. They answered all my questions and gave me tips on how to proceed afterwards. I really appreciate the competence + excellence of all the people I've interacted with here.
