I love working out with Alice and have been consistently going to her studio for strength training for several months. Alice is a great instructor - she knows just when to push me and when to modify the exercises if I ask. She has plenty of weight machines, free weights, and other exercise equipment (e.g., ankle weights, bosu ball, etc.) so that every week there is something new to keep the workouts varied and interesting. You can pay per visit or buy a package, easy to schedule. Plenty of free parking outside. Always friendly and funny, just overall great energy. Highly recommend Alice and her studio! read more

I highly recommend this mom and pop workout shop! I discovered this spot via ClassPass. Alice and her clients have a tight knit community which made it seem like family or close family friends, hence the name, "Social Workout Studio." There wasn't too much socializing going on once you start huffin' and puffin' for some water and a break but it's a good pace. The studio itself was kind of dark during the day and she was running late my first class, I was beginning to think it was canceled. But at the end of the day, Alice is a great instructor! She is a machine if you get to see her workout! She doesn't sweat and she doesn't slow down, hence the name, "The Machine." If you check out her story on her website, she used to compete athletically. I haven't booked many classes here only because I don't like scheduling more than 24 hours ahead since my plans can always change and there's a ClassPass cancellation fee (if you don't cancel 12 hours before the class and I have a tendency to forget) plus her booking window closes 24 hours ahead (again via ClassPass). I'm sure it might be better to book directly with her. I think her days on ClassPass are numbered, she only has 3 available classes on ClassPass left. Lori Monroe is my personal trainer. I have asked her to work with me specifically on strength and flexibility. The core work she does with me has been really effective. I had worked on core with other trainers but never really felt my abs engaging. However, Lori's exercises do the trick. She has also shown me some resistance-band exercises that help me target problem areas. At the end of our sessions, she very skillfully helps me stretch, and I feel great. All in all, our time is well spent, and I can even practice many of the exercises she has shown me on my own. To top it all off, Lori is easy to work with and encouraging. Alice is wonderful! I have been taking private training sessions with Alice for about 2 months now, and my strength has dramatically improved. Alice is so knowledgeable, she consistently changes it up so that your body gets a complete workout. Every session I learn something new, but continue to be challenged with heavier weights, longer reps, and modified techniques that work with my fitness level. Alice is a wonderful woman and trainer. Several years ago, my back went out and, while using a cane to walk, I went to Alice for strength and balance training. With thanks to Alice, my medical professionals and effort on my behalf, I was able to give away the cane. However, I am late to the "use it or lose it" lesson. So, as I watched my daughter's grandparents become less mobile over the last few years, I've also noticed myself in habitual pain walking up and down stairs. Thus, I've been back with Alice for about three months, definitely making progress and finally writing this Yelp review. It's also great that Alice customizes individual work outs for all ages from elementary school through seniors. How did I not know about this place? Literally up the street from me, ample parking and an amazing workout. I have been working out for years and could easily train myself, but I love the push and motivation of having a trainer nearby; however, that always comes with a price (usually a pretty high price).....so I was pleasantly surprised to see the reasonable prices of group training when I finally looked this place up online. The studio is clean and bright and Alice, the owner/trainer, plays awesome, upbeat music. And the workouts????? Soooo good! I was challenged, but able to take breathers when needed (with motivating reminders to get back into it from Alice). Seriously one of the best workouts I've had in years, as it combines strength training with cardio......gets them both out of the way. And Alice's body........you can tell she knows exactly what she's doing as she practices it herself. I absolutely love this place and will continue to go!
