Very often, when I go to request them, the staff tells me that folks steal the locks and they don't have enough. Yet the squat racks are never ropes off when this is the case. I'd love to know what their insurance adjuster thinks of them allowing people to use equipment when there's not enough safety equipment on hand. An unsecured olympic bar on a squat rack is a disaster waiting to happen with untrained people using it. And the staff just shrug it off like morons. I guess the ownership must be to blame here. Too cheap to keep things properly stocked--too stupid to care about clients' safety.

The handful of gyms that I visited were either too expensive for me or didn't have the friendly atmosphere that I was looking for. After contacting Pat and Stephenie I, along with my boyfriend and my brother, joined the gym and instantly felt welcome. The group of people that you meet here all treat you as family and every workout you're given can be scaled to your own personal level of fitness. The "surfboard" yoga we was hosted in a pool up at the Orange County Sportsplex. I've done my fair share of Yoga in the past but it was really neat to try out the session on basically a floating platform on water. Maria ran us through a lot of basic Yoga positions along with some fitness training mixed in. I found Maria to be a excellent instructor and she did a outstanding job of talking everyone through the the session with a very positive attitude the whole way through. I don't know if I would make this a regular workout as I'm not a huge fan of pools to begin with (unless there is a party involved) but if you are looking for something new to try you should definitely look into this at least once. My only word of caution would be that if you are like myself, a bit on the top heavy side, balancing on the board in the water can be a little tricky.

She told us she doesn't do Sunday appointments for anyone except regulars and her weekday hours are normal work hours that I could not work with due to my 8-5 Monday-Friday work schedule. She told us Groupon would have to refund us. We had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get Groupon to refund my mom who thought it'd be a nice gift for us to help us relax. What a headache. Maybe her "regulars" get good service, but it doesn't feel fair to be treated less than because we had a Groupon. Who knows we could've become regulars if we had the chance to even get a massage. I would imagine that is the whole point of a Groupon to try your business and enjoy it to come back again. Too bad we weren't given anything to come back for.
