I can handle a canceled appointment. I can handle policies. What I cannot understand is why a simple scheduling issue turned into a personal attack. At no point was I trying to take advantage of anyone, and at no point did I ask to for a discount. No one deserves to have their personal circumstances used against them. What should have been a professional conversation quickly became something that felt judgmental, accusatory, and unnecessarily personal. The most disappointing part wasn't losing her as a stylist tbh. It was being made to feel like I was a problem for circumstances that were already difficult for me. Instead of professionalism, I was met with comments that felt targeted and designed to make me feel small. Businesses are entitled to their policies. What they are not entitled to do is shame customers, make assumptions about them, or turn a business matter into a personal one. I reached out because I wanted to feel beautiful. I left the interaction feeling humiliated. Here is my attempt to cancel and the policy. ****update- I spoke with owners and management and their quickness to resolve my problem and prevent this from occurring again to anyone was so relieving and refreshing. After a 48 hour wait. I was informed that they would be speaking with the stylist, and overall taking my concerns seriously. No point did I feel like the stylist was a true representation of society West and their core values especially after speaking with management. They did amazing and my experience was a rare one im seeing now. I'm leaving this up so that if any clients or future clients have any issues they don't hesitate to reach out to management at Societywestsalon@gmail.com. So I have only let maybe 2 people see me without makeup. Since I have PCOS I have had horrible skin, I have gross chin acne, unbearable facial hair and discolored skin. I went and had a dermaplane facial from Adriana and I won't lie I thought about cancelling and even cried from nerves before hand. Just out of embarrassment. But she made me feel so comfortable. And I can honestly say my skin has never felt better. I still have some work to do but this was a start and I'm so happy with the results thank you Adriana for giving me a confidence boost. I have a short pixie cut and not everyone can do it right. I used to travel over an hour for a haircut, but she did a great job so I was willing to make the trip. But recently someone recommended Society West Salon to me which is only a 15 minute drive. Angela cuts my hair and I can NOT say enough great things about her!! First, when she washes my hair, she gives a mini scalp massage. Even though it only lasts 30 seconds, it's PURE ECSTASY!! I brought pictures to show her and she cut my hair EXACTLY the way I like it!!! She asks lots of questions and looks at the pictures I brought multiple times. The salon is cute & clean!! Absolutely love this salon. I was referred here by a friend before I moved to Arizona. My hair is very curly so trying to find someone who can straighten my hair is tough. Jenna is amazing. She has a great personality, she is adorable and did all she could to make sure I was happy. It took a few visits to get it right but when she did, she nailed it. The salon is very trendy, they have higher end products that you would normally find in LA. If you look I do not write many bad reviews-but I have to say something. Unfortunately my daughter asked for her to be lightened- she has had it done before and wanted the new growth to match. It turned out nearly white! The employee was working on another client and my guess is they let her process to long. I am not a hair dresser but for someone to think that was successful is sad. And of course they tried to convince her it looked great. Hundreds of dollars later I called and asked them to fix it and they said they could but there would be an additional charge. I get that you have to pay for services but again this is clearly not what she asked for. Listen to the customer and please do not try and convince them they like something when it is clear they do not. We went to another salon and they showed us all the mistakes and thankfully fixed it. I love this salon! It's so pretty inside this open airy high ceiling brick building. Every time I walk in the beautiful sweet receptionist is there with a great big smile greeting me! Paige has been my hair dresser and I couldn't ask for a better expert in cut and color: I have dark brown hair and like to mix it up with highlights sometimes. Paige kills it making my hair look naturally sun lightened rather than how inexperienced hair dressers make it brassy. She won't do something If she knows you won't look good. I love that! Leslie is a bayalage Queen. Or a wizard. Or a angel sent from Hair Heaven. She is an absolute talent and I am so glad I have her in my life! Prior to meeting Leslie I was going to Haircutters in the Park but when they moved salons I no longer got that "high end salon" feeling that I was getting before. I looked for a new hairstylist and was referred to someone who did hair out of a she shed and was promised that she was legit and amazing and could do exactly what I wanted. That wasn't the case, whatsoever. The day after she-she's stylist nearly ruined my hair and caused some terrible scalp issues, I called Society West crying, begging for someone to fix my hair. The owner asked me to send her a pic, which I did and she assured me she had someone who could fix it! Since Society West isn't an Aveda salon, I was skeptical but needed someone to fix the mess of a head I had in order to go out in public with dignity. Leslie was so empathetic and kind. She knew I was upset and she showed me compassion and reassured me 50 times that everything could be fixed..... I spent several hours with Leslie that day an we became fast friends! She's so chill and kind. And she knows what she's doing. I've gone to her since for a trim and a tone AND I've sent two of my friends to her. When people ask where to go, I do not hesitate to tell them to go here! Also, Society West isn't just a hair salon, they also have a full nail salon, massage, eyelashes and facials. Across the 2nd visit she still did not managed to fix my hair, and the audacity she had to charge me again. First off the place is beautiful and unique. It has such a relaxing vibe. I'm writing a review to give lots of props and love to both Nicolette and Danielle. These chicks are my jam. After having a long term hair dresser move to another state on me I was lost. I jumped from hair dresser to hair dresser. I'm the kind of person that never knows what they want done to their hair. So when I say do whatever you want I mean it. To me it's only hair after all and it will grow back. You think I would've learned my lesson after getting my hair messed up plenty of times. It wasn't until I met these two ladies that I finally felt comfortable saying that and not regretting my result. My 4 year old won't let anyone else touch her hair. Except that one time she got the scissors, but I digress. She gives Nicolette 15 thumbs up on a regular basis. Nicolette is my main chick but you know I always wait until the last minute to schedule so sometimes Danielle is my side chick.
