I recently decided to have my hair color changed and although I asked for Julie I was told she might be in but not sure. I asked for a call if she wasn't and would wait later so my phone number was taken. Sadly she wasn't in and I needed the color badly (roots showing, very bad) I said all right to Olga. I wanted to go back to blonde but was told not a good idea with my color and gray on there. So between the long and short of it and her boss they told me they could only go light but highlights would help (extra charge of course). My other half was there and not happy and when it was all said it and done I have light brown hair with BLONDE highlights. Why couldn't they make the whole color the blonde???? Hmmmm.... To say that I was not happy is an understatement :( And don't even ask what my husband has to say about this .... Sad , because I liked this place. read more

I give them 2 stars bc I loved my hair when I had it done. Unfortunately, I took my son in for a haircut a few weeks ago. TERRIBLE!!!! I walked in around 3:15, the older lady said she could cut his hair.. from the start my son was terrified, she had cut his ear the last time she cut his hair but he desperately needed a cut. She continued on cutting his hair, then her 4pm appointment walked in and she hurried up and half asses his hair cut. Said he was done, paid and left in the car he turned to look out and I saw his hair!!' OMG!!! I took him back immediately, she ADMITTED to knowing his hair wasn't cut properly but said she had her appointment there and he wouldn't sit still. I've attached the shitty cut they gave my son... sadly they have lost 3 customers, myself, my daughter and my son. I usually have all 3 of our cuts and color done here. Despite the good reviews, I was very very disappointed, and I must also mention, I had my hair fixed 2 days later in San Francisco where I had my wedding ceremony. I made my appointment the same morning. They double booked Carina for the 1230h slot but since I arrived on time, she started cutting my hair. I explained to her what I wanted, and also told her that I was getting married that weekend and I wanted my hair to look nice. The unlucky lady arrived 15 minutes behind the appointment, and then we had a clearly unhappy client, a receptionist trying to have off-duty hairdresser help the situation, and Carina doing her job in silence while a male hairdresser just kept talking to walk-in customers as if he wanted to draw their attention away from the bad atmosphere. I shouldn't have had to feel bad about the whole situation, but I did anyway. Carina, I guess, did not think it was good idea to apply my preferences to my hair and did her own thing, which was not to my liking. I wish she had listened to and understood my explanations as to how I wanted my hair done, or she should have focused on what she was getting paid to do instead of juggling between babysitting 2 of her kids and my hair. When I saw myself in the mirror, looking like a babybella mashroom, I hoped it was just the way she blow-dried it, and it should look better if I did it myself. But I was wrong. Her job "wow"ed my hairdresser in SF in a very negative way. The day before the wedding I looked like I was wearing a helmet. I am glad Michael Lucich Hair Salon in Palo Alto fixed my hair. But otherwise, my husband would have ended up standing next to a very unhappy mashroom at our wedding. Oh, I must also mention, I asked Carina that I wanted straight-across bangs just below my eyebrows. Well, I was wrong. I admit it. I wanted to love this place, I really did. Walking in for the appointment I'd made a month before to get my hair done for my college graduation, I discover my stylist (who's also the owner) of Vega, Helia, starting a walk-in client's hair. My appointment was at 1:00 PM and at 1:45, I was still not in the chair. Helia spent 15 minutes playing with the client's baby while I waited. Graduation was at 6 and I didn't have time to get my nails done too because I had to wait for her to finish the walk-in client. It was absolutely ridiculous!! While I was waiting, I noticed dark hair in the brushes she was using that were NOT MINE!! To top if off, there was not one jar of Barbicide in the shop that I could see. I had never had a spray tan before (rookie!) so I had concerns about the process. Her website provided a lot of information for us newbies and was very helpful. I was able to get an appointment the same day (not sure if I just lucked out or what) and off I went. The process didn't take very long and she provided a shower cap thing, hair tie and little stick on slippers. Nice touch so I didn't mess up my tan with my rookie-ness. After some discussion over what I wanted to look like and my expectations, Cathy started spraying me. She was very thorough and explained everything. My color was this awesome golden tone and I thought I looked pretty darn good! Took the pale winter look away and replaced it with gorgeous Jen Aniston-like color! haha! The spray tan cost $30, which is comparable to other places I researched in my area. I will definitely go back and see Cathy! read more

Since I only have written one review thus far (it was negative) figured a little YIN & YANG was in order. Well.....I can not say enough of how fond I am of this little salon off Dysart. I have thick coarse dark hair and normally when I would go to a new salon and ask for highlights there would be a big SHRIEKKKK of NOOOOOO....."your hair is too dry and it will break," not understanding that I have really STRONG hair!!! I've been a very happy customer for over 4 years, with perfectly "bright" highlights, because brassy is not SASSY!!! These girls do a good job of listening to their clients!!! Got my haircut here last week... I'm growing it out so all I needed was about half an inch off... I was very disappointed to see more than double of the was cut and when I tried styling my hair I could see the uneven layers. Being a hairstylist myself I tried to fix the areas I could without loosing too much more length. All I needed was a trim but now I have a disaster. Won't be returning. read more

I was referred to Vega Salon by my co-worker. She had the most beautiful hair style, I asked her who was cutting her hair and she inform me that it was Maria at Vega Salon... I loved her hair, the style and cut; I must said, I was extremely nervous to move to a new salon, because my hair is curly and very horse and the gray coming in is very stubborn and the color in parts of my hear would not take. Now! Guess what? I been going to Vega Salon for 5 years; Maria and Julie are amazing... I love my hair, no more gray and my style is wonderful! My appointment was at 10:00am and she was not there yet. I was there to get my hair colored from a brown to blond and I knew it would take time. Her work space was dirty and when she reached in the drawer to get a brush I spotted hair on it I should have said something but did not when she was through with the brush she threw it back in the drawer not good no sign of disinfection for the combs and brushes and other tools. She put bleach on my scalp and I have blisters on my head when it came time for her to put the foils she said she had to pick up her daughter and could I come back tomorrow could not believe my hair was streaked not even so I went home and came back the next day she put the darker foils in and when she rinsed off my hair they were almost black. Looked horrible. This is what got me she said she only had a barber license not a cosmetician license not good against the law. it was not a good day. So being a beautician a long time ago I fixed my own hair and it looked better than what she did. Will never go back. read more

I am new to Arizona and was looking for a place to get my hair cut. I'm telling you I had a hair emergency! Coming from a small town where there was no good place to get a good hair cut it had been awhile! I found most places don't like to deal with a female that just wants a cut and not color as there is not as much $$ to be made. That's how it was where I came from anyways. Also had enough bad cuts in the last several years to leave me paranoid. The first thing I did was check "Yelp" and found Vega Salon to have great reviews. No big bells and whistles to leave me intimidated on the first visit. I actually got an appt. that very day and got "Julie". I will never have to look again. She was ready the minute I walked in. A very good start! She asked me exactly what I wanted. I have very fine hair and I realize it's hard to work with. I said I needed it cut for some volume. But did ask to PLEASE not cut it short. I don't have the face for short,short hair and that had been a problem in the past. It takes real long for it to grow back as well. I also said I do need a color but after summer as the pool water would just ruin it. She was not pushy at all and agreed it would be best to wait. She continued to ask about the lengths she was needing to cut. I realized that I would lose a bit of length due to the lack of trimmings in the past. In 30 mins. She had washed cut and blow dried my hair exactly how I wanted it. No chatter on the phone or stopping to chat with others (huge plus) kept a polite conversation with me the entire time but not over bearing and allowed me to relax. I was charged $25 and found it more then fair. I did wish I knew I needed to ask to have my hair style (extra charge) I would have happily paid but was still very satisfied. She gave me a pamphlet of all the salons menu and fees. I left feeling beautiful with a healthy head of hair. Best of all my husband LOVED the cut and said it made me look younger. My wife & I was introduced to Vega Salon in 4/2007 by my sister-in-law. We did not lived here full-time but on visits twice per year we got haircuts from young lady named "A". We moved to AZ full-time in 2011, since then up to 11/2013 have been getting regular haircuts from "A" once every month/2 months. "A" has left so I was suggested to try Julie. I called on 1/6/14 to make appt with Julie for 1/10/14 @ 10 am. The person who took my appt asked for my phone number, which I gave to her. On 1/9/14 I called to confirm that my appt was indeed for 1/10/14 @10am. The person answered my call agreed that it was for that time & date. So on 1/10/14, I arrived @ 9:55am, Julie greeted me and I was informed that she "was overbooked" and that if I can come back @ 11 am OR have XYZ cut my hair. I decided no and left. When I drove away, I thought that was weird. What does "overbooked" mean? I have been a regular customer since 2007 and this never happened.
