They are excellent, for sure and I had them put in the lawn and sprinkler system for my lovely, sweet Avenues house 10 years ago. It was (is) an older house and when I bought it it had been rented for many years of its 107 year old life (now, 117 years!). The last owner had rented it for 30 years and the poor thing had become the 'scary house' on the block because of the dead lawn, weird yew tree obscuring the front window and the ancient peeling blue paint on the bricks. The roof had five layers of asphalt tiles, at least on the E/W/S sides. The North side was only three layers. But, I digress. One step at a time I renovated the roof, paint and finally the lawn! A small avenues lawn with new sod and sprinkler system and by the Fall it was a spectacular show piece. Kappus was excellent, and they never made me feel like my job was too small. They also managed the system twice a year to make sure it ran smoothly. Word of mouth told me they were the best in town - and they were. And still are. Thank you for eight years of excellent service.

I was shocked when I moved back home No one had Mowed or edged my back yard in over 3 years The grass and weeds were over 3 feet tall My flower beds were so overgrown that they had become one giant meadow were just back to my Cottonwood heights home after living out of town for three years. In tears, I showed the sprinkler guy my back yard. I asked for a recommendation. Specifically, Someone who was a reliable, a hard worker and wouldn't bankrupt me. He recommended Wendell with Lake City Lawn Maintenance. Wow is this guy is good. He worked for 2 days straight to get my yard in shape Then Not only did Wendell, mow, edge and shape all my overgrown bushes, he went above and beyond. I causally mentioned that after he leaves, I planned to cut back some of my Vining shrubs. Next thing I know, instead of going to his truck to Write an invoice, he cut back the the vining shrubs too. I went to grab some grasses and Russian sage for my yard and the staff was really helpful and kind. The garden itself is well laid out and well maintained. Parking was plentiful and everyone I interacted with was more than helpful. I even called a month after planting my Russian sage and the staff was helpful in telling me how to care for it. They also have a cool butterfly tent! That was really fun to walk through. It's small but really cool!

I had three companies come out and I explained my concern and asked each what needed to be done. They were all eager to get the job and gave me bids. I thought I would try one more company and happened to call Doug. He arrived and once again I explained my concern. He looked at the tree and told me there was no need to do anything to the tree. I was very surprised. He had made a trip to see the job, told me it didn't need to be done and took the time to explain why there was no fire hazard. I then spoke to the electric company that confirmed what he had said. He was only one who was honest and told me I didn't need his service. How refreshing! Honestly means a lot to me. He will be getting all my business in the future and I will pass my experience on to my friends. Thanks Doug!

My neighbor hired Doug's tree service in August 2023 to remove a large tree. Doug asked for access…read moreinto my driveway with a bucket truck because power lines on neighbor's side blocked their driveway. I gave access, however, restricted where they could park the truck, as my yard/driveway is very small. A short while later, I checked on my front yard and found that they disregarded my instructions on where I agreed the truck could go, and they then had mechanical issues. The truck blew a hydraulic line which caused A LOT of fluid to pour onto my drive and stones/yard. I realize accidents happen, and told the employees of Doug's tree this and said make sure to clean up the mess you made. They used absorbent and degreaser for several hours to try to clean. The truck was moved onto the street and continued to drain hydraulic fluid as they worked on the truck for a lot of the day. At one point, the workers gave up cleaning and told me they got 80% of the oil out of my driveway/stones. I reminded the workers cleaning up the mess that they needed to clean up the mess in the street too. At the end of the day, 5pm, when everyone left, I observed that they got maybe 40-50% of the oil out of my driveway and did not do anything for the mess on the street in front. Very unprofessional. Next day, I contacted the neighbor who hired Doug's and he called Doug and got the response that they had done all they could do to clean up the mess. My thought was "no good deed goes unpunished"- I allowed the tree service and my neighbor to access the tree from my yard, so their jobs could be possible/easier. It reminds me to not pay for hired work in full before a job is completed, get more than one bid (even if it is a good price) and find a company that will take responsibility for their actions. Doug's Tree service is not a company I would consider in the future.

My house is a very nice house and it takes a lot for me to trust somebody to do work on my estate. If you're looking for somebody to do basic work to high-end work, I would recommend these guys to anybody. Great Job
