I recently attended a wedding at Sodo Park. I'd rate the food at 3.5 stars and everything else at 5 stars. The space exudes a rustic feel with a soft touch. Dark knotty wood is set off by flowing white curtains. Brick adds an industrial vibe which is contrasted by modern furniture. The main space for the ceremony (and later the reception) has very high ceilings. The area could be very dark but those white curtains add life to the celebration! during the ceremony, the acoustics were less than desirable and as a guest in the front row, I was unable to hear the officiant or the groom clearly. On the outer perimeter, windows provide great natural light for photos, depending on the time of day. I must say that the temperature of the building was on point during the ceremony and even through dancing at the reception. Staffing levels were excellent. From people stocking the bathrooms to wait staff serving appetizers to break down staff setting up the reception - there were people everywhere! The food was okay and some of it was less than okay. The crab cakes were a highlight for me. These appetizers were brought around while we waited for the reception area to be set. They were served warm and tasty! The stuffed mushroom appetizers were equally tasty and right on point. The roasted vegetables at the buffet dinner were cooked just right and seasoned perfectly. The two biggest misses of the night at the buffet dinner were pretty big ones. The first was the beef loin. I enjoy my meat a bit on the medium rare side. However, not everyone does. I heard a number of complaints from guests at my table and around me about the meat being cooked under. The second miss was the gnocchi which was a soggy mess. Overall, I had a great time at the wedding and great food would have made it a perfect evening. read more

I had the chance to visit Sodo Park for an event we were participating in and I immediately fell in love with the venue. The over a century-old building and former Stetson-Ross Machine Company, boasts of 7,500 sq ft of open floor plan, soaring ceilings with exposed beams, and lots of character. The interior is well-preserved from the original doors and windows to the walk-in vault turned coat check room. The floors are not level so anything with wheels will definitely roll and move. The venue is beautiful and historic. If you are looking for a unique venue, this is it! read more

This place is great. It is a relative unknown and perfect for most events. I came here for a wedding and the set-up could not be more perfect. There were a little over 200 guests, the dance floor was very large and the ceiling high. The rustic feel was truly unique and the natural light that came in before it got dark was great! There was a "tree" that held martini glasses and the signature drink was a cucumber mojito. There was also some sections of the spce that just had couches and patio furniture that made it feel like you were either outside, or in someone's living room. Minus one star for the food not perfect the best, and the fact that the men's restrooms were a long walk away from the main facility. Otherwise, parking was easy and free, and they allowed sparklers for the getaway, so if you're looking for a fun, unqiue place to have a wedding, this is it! read more

When our original venue was shut down by the city of Seattle just 14 days before our wedding we were SO lucky to have Herban Feast suggested to us. We had the pleasure of working with Matt Tamayo. Even with the major time crunch, he never made us feel like he was doing us a favor. He was incredibly professional and kind. Matt met us for our venue tour with a big smile on his face and ready to help make our wedding day the best day ever. He was sincerely honored that we were considering his two venues and when we selected Sodo Park, he worked tirelessly to put together the exactly right proposal that was respectful of our budget and gave us everything we needed to host the perfect event and have a wedding day to remember. Not only was the venue beautiful, the staff all day was wonderful. Things like set up, room flip, food and drink service and tear down were all seamless. Since the timing was so quick we did not have a chance to try the food beforehand. Luckily, we had attended two weddings at their other venue, The Foundry and were confident the food would be great. It did not disappoint. We had several guests rave to us about how much the loved their meal. We are so grateful to Matt and Herban Feast for helping us to make our wedding day dreams come true. My fiance's work held their company holiday party at Herban Feast. I loved the vintage look of the wooden beam construction...it gave the place a neat historic feel and I could picture the place back when it was used as a warehouse. The place was huge, and I loved how they had utilized the corners of the building to serve as little loungy nooks where people could relax and chat. Although the industrial feeling from the outside does little for it's curb appeal, once you walk inside you'll be pleasantly surprised. Our friends got married here and highly recommended it so we set up an appointment to check it out for our own wedding. I'll start with what's good - space is unique, the bridal loft is huge, lots of parking, cute outdoor space, venue itself is again huge. You can bring your own beer which was something that we need to be able to do. Not so good - price is about 18-19K for a wedding for 150 including the venue, catering, bar. A bit pricey. Not ridiculous, but a little bit out of reach. Also not good - we met with Reese and saying her welcome was lukewarm would be an overstatement. Hardly a smile, not enthusiastic, didn't seem interested in us, in her job, in anything. My fiance had to keep asking if there was anything else about Herban Feast that she might want to tell us about and she didn't really come up with anything. So we kinda just flipped through the albums while she sat there and looked distant. Not the kind of service I would want to get if I were to pay nearly 20K for an event. No way. read more

I recently attended a wedding here, and would give the venue four stars; however, the food was atrocious and doesn't deserve two. The facility itself is a remodeled warehouse with great wooden beam construction evident along the high ceilings and upper structure. The faciliy was nicely decorated for the event and emitted a nice "rustic" charm contrary to the SODO location. The entire staff, from bartenders, to servers, to managers, were pleasant and professional. The food was another matter entirely. Our dinner included pork tenderloin and baked (I assume) salmon, along with fresh local vegetables and side items. Let me say that I have had salmon jerky that had more moisture left in it than what was served. In addition, while Herban Feast Catering touts the fact that they serve fresh, local items, the salmon certainly wasn't "fresh." It was horrible. The pork wasn't much better - equally dry, but without the musty old fish flavor. I don't know if you can rent the venue without using their catering service, but I would avoid the food at all costs. 2-1/2 Stars. read more

I just had my wedding here at the end of February, and I have to say, it was even better than I ever could have possibly imagined. First and foremost, I want to give a huge shout-out to Kristen from Sodo who really helped see the entire event through, over the course of a year of planning. As I could go on and on about how ridiculously amazing the entire experience was, I just want to highlight a few of the many aspects that will have you wishing that you could have your wedding here. -- The Venue: exposed beams, dramatic ceilings, elegant lighting, an old vault for a coat closet, barn doors, indoor patio seating; the list goes on. The moment I stepped foot into Sodo Park, I knew that this was the place that we would get married in. -- The Food: I can't imagine how difficult it is to cater for large weddings. There has to be some level of forgiveness given to a company that is serving a plated meal for 150 guests, as there is no way every item will go out perfectly. Well, it looks like Herban Feast managed to also win in this category, as the only thing I heard from guests was how this was the best food they had ever eaten at a wedding EVER. Let me post this question to you: what other wedding have you been to where the steak wasn't overcooked into a piece of leather, and in fact, was cooked to a perfect, juicy medium? I would venture to say none. From the Sweet Potato Dungeness Crab Cakes to the Cedar-Planked Wild Salmon with Citrus-Arugula Aioli, everything was on culinary point from beginning to end. --The Service: Simply put, I felt taken care of the entire night in a completely unobtrusive manner. A simply-dressed wait staff was available to take care of all of our guests' needs, while remaining cool and composed the entire time. Bravo to all of the staff at Sodo Park by Herban Feast that helped make our wedding day so memorable. Herban Feast was one of the few potential venues that we had to check out for our wedding. We came here for an open house which featured a dinner buffet and an appetizer buffet table. Nicely decorated to showcase how beautiful and rustic the venue is inside. Decor was nicely done with the chairs and table settings. The way how their venue is laid out is really nice. My favorite part was the martini brass tree which is definitely a crowd pleaser. Very different and drinks were tasty and slightly strong. Food was phenomenal. I hate figs but somehow their cheese stuffed-figs wrapped in bacon seemed to win me over to at least try. It wasn't bad at all! The best were their signature crab and sweet potato cakes. Delish! It's located in SODO which means industrial and corp buildings surrounding this unique venue. Minus a star for the construction located outside which is an eye-sore. :( read more

Warning to hosts: If you list "Herban Feast" on your invitation, at least some of your guests will end up at the wrong location, because their GPS navigation system (or their Uber driver) will lead them to the Herban Feast headquarters, which is about 0.7 miles south of the correct location. Advice to hosts: On the invitation, list the venue's address (3200 First Avenue South) and "Sodo Park," but don't write a word about Herban Feast. read more

I went here for a benefit silent and live auction. I'm not too familiar with the Sodo district, but upon arrival, the building didn't offer much curbside appeal. Yet once inside, we were inside a sophisticated, (bear with me)...barn. Having said that, this isn't the type of place for a hoe-down. Rather, it was sophisticated and quite chic. The reason I liken it to a barn is the exposed cathedral-high ceiling beams, featuring that shabby chic peeling paint. It actually seemed the perfect space for a wedding or reception. In addition to the main sky-high gallery (which was lit with chandelier-esque lights that exuded a lovely glow), there were smaller, lower-ceiling nooks, ideal for a guest book station or displaying photos of the happy couple. At the event I attended, these spaces were used to display silent auction items. My one quip, the bathrooms were crowded and sub-par. Narrow stalls, one with a door that didn't quite close, another that had a curtain in lieu of an actual door. A little peculiar considering the class of the space, kind of annoying, I prefer to use the restroom in private thank you very much. And of course the food. The hor d'oeuvres buffet was tasty indeed: California rolls, crab cakes, salmon and beef sliders, an antipasti selection, alongside an open bar - can't beat that! I'd be curious to see a wedding in this space, seemed like an ideal location for a memorable event. read more

I got married here July 4, 2010. Everything was perfect including the food (beef canape apps are my fave). They tried to make everything I wanted work even if it was difficult for them. They really worked hard for us and even helped with the planning (coming up with ideas when I couldn't think of what to do to make things work for my picky family). They also made some changes to the buffet and worked in a South Asian appetizer (since my family is from Pakistan). They probably would have done even more if I had asked. Everyone that was working on the day of the event was so helpful, sweet, and fun. Many of my guests have said it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to. Feel free to ping me if you want my opinion on anything else at Sodo Park. But it is DEFINITELY worth the $ for your wedding if you are thinking about it. read more

I recently hosted a fund raising event for a nonprofit here and from beginning to end, Herban Feast was amazing. I fell in love with the venue the first time I saw it. It does have some 'rustic' aspects, but is also beautiful and has a huge, awe-inspiring impact when you walk in. If you provide tea lights they will provide the holders and the contrast between the old-factory appearance and the soft candlelight make it gorgeous, modern and unique. From my first phone call to ask about the place, everyone was helpful and incredibly supportive of our event. They shared ideas and worked with us on date, time and price, (the big details,) down to the little details, like our linens and how we can get them for the least expensive price. For food, we did 'heavy appetizers.' The presentation was gorgeous and everyone had wonderful things to say. They were willing to include vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options without any fuss and had selections that you do not see everyday, such as sweet potato crab cakes and cider roasted vegetables. My only wish was that there was more food per person, but I think that is something that could be cleared up with better communication. The day of, the staff was phenomenal, I could not of dreamed of better help for the event. They consistently went above and beyond what I was expecting. I truly feel a large part of the Event's success was Herban Feast. read more

I was there with a group of friends and colleagues to attend a dinner event. There were around 200 people attending the event. The place is very rustic in a cool way. It looked hip and was big with high ceilings. I love everything about the building all in itself. Food was catered by Herban Feast, food portion was small and decent. However, nothing special about the food blew me away. What disappointed me was that the food was served not in a well-timed manner. For example, our side dish came but the main course dish didn't come out in time. We all finished the side dishes already....then came waiting and waiting time with nothing else to eat.....we saw all other tables got their main dishes..some tables probably finished their main dishes already but our main course didn't get to our table out til way later (i.e. we all finished all our side dishes already). Our table also had a bottle of wine (uncorked), but there was nothing that we could use to open the wine bottle...so we left them untouched :( Considering the fact that they are the sole caterer and runs catering business specifically for this venue, it was actually quite a big miss on details such as these. Note: Microphone not loud enough, especially if you sit towards the street side with some noises coming in, so make sure if u have large party, test the microphones first to make sure your guests can hear clearly. The space is absolutely beautiful and as many people have said, strikes an incredible balance between rustic, industrial, romantic, and modern. I don't know what this place looks like during the day, but I can just imagine a big empty barn type of feel. At night with all the Christmas string lights on and the tables and chivari chairs set up, this place looks beautiful. I went here for a wedding and saw no problems with the service. They weren't the smiliest, but they cleared the plates and replaced the empty buffet trays pretty quickly. The beverage station was set up quite elegantly. Another plus is that there is parking in the back. People's comments on the lack of bathrooms didn't affect me, but I can see how 2 bathrooms wouldn't be enough. Also from what I know about the cost, I would say it's pretty overpriced. Other than that, it's a nice venue at night. read more

The SODO Park venue is definitely one of Seattle's most unique open spaces. It's like a cross between a loft and a barn with Pacific Northwest appeal. A few weeks ago, we attended the open house party hosted by Herban Feast at their rustic urban space, SODO Park. The complimentary event gave us an opportunity to check out the venue space, try the Herban Feast cuisine, meet their partner vendors such as Cake Envy, and refresh in cocktails. The Herban Feast food is tasty, which is often hard to come by when you have mass-produced wedding food. The menu that night consisted of many goodies such as shrimp and grits, pistachio salad, quinoa, halibut, and bacon wrapped figs. So in all, it was a pretty delicious dinner! The SODO Park by Herban Feast experience was very exquisite and I definitely considered it for my wedding. read more

Matt Tamayo was our venue coordinator to which Sara and I dubbed him "The most amazing person on the face of the earth". It may sound ridiculous but when you have someone like Matt working with you on the wedding you feel extremely secure and confident that things will be done your way, correctly, and on time. Even during Sodo's busiest times, Matt found time to respond to emails and phone calls almost immediately. Whether we contacted him with a crisis moment, the simplest question, or a new idea, Matt was there ready and eager to help. Sodo was able to work with us in tight money situations. However, even though it was a budget wedding we never felt like second class costumers. We were always treated like we were one of the highest paying costumers. The space is amazing, romantic and full of character. The staff offers catering services and it was some of the best food I've had in Seattle. As a nice perk, Sodo holds a couple of open houses during the year. Potential and existing clients are welcomed into a wonderfully decorated Sodo Park filled with free drinks and free meals. I could go on forever about the amazing experience that Sara and I had. Do not do your event here. They will chase your guests out before your CONTRACTED time. The wait staff is very rude and takes plates and glasses away from you when you are still eating and drinking. They will close your bar early and it will be very uncomfortable for all of your guests. They took away the dinner and the dessert table so no one could go back and get more food and when asked where it was immediately after, we were told it was all thrown away. It is a cool looking venue and the food was good but the service here is abominable and leaves so much to be desired. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere unless you want your wedding day/event ruined. read more

This review is coming a bit late and frankly, I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet! I got married here this past January and even before I got engaged I knew I wanted to someday get married here. I absolutely love the rustic ambiance and look, but also love industrial and modern, which this venue has all three. I love their high ceilings and the string lights look amazing hanging that high up. The way they set the space up for the ceremony and then switch it over to reception seating is amazing! We had a winter wedding, so the venue was perfect and romantic, just how I pictured it. I worked with Matt during the whole planning process, and Katie the last few months before the wedding, and they were extremely helpful and responsive. Anyone who's planned their own wedding knows how hectic and crazy it can get, even for someone who's extremely organized, and having people who respond to your million questions and emails in a timely manner GREATLY helps. I appreciate them more than I can explain! The day of the wedding was absolutely perfect. Even with a few inconsistencies, the wedding itself, the venue, and the staff were all amazing. I was so pleased at how everything came together and everything was beautiful. The only misses were a few inconsistencies. Because we got married in the winter, we had a good handful of people get sick that weekend and couldn't come last minute. I let the venue know about this, and while I knew I wouldn't be getting money back for their meals, I was told that we would be able to get the extra food wrapped up so we could take it to go. When I asked about it the day of the wedding, I was told they didn't do that. It was fine, but it would've been nice to been able to take some of the food with us afterward for the hotel. I'm also not a fan of medium rare beef, which is what it was, but that's just my personal preference. The entrees were probably a 3.5 out of 5 for me, but the appetizers we picked were SO GOOD (we got the stuffed mushrooms and their signature crab cakes). Wish we could've remembered to eat more of them after the ceremony, lol! Overall, this place gave me the wedding of my dreams, and I will forever have great memories of this place. Important details: I was the bride, we were there from 2-12 pm (which you have to do no matter the time requirements for your event), and we had 160 guests in attendance, with about 6 kids there. SODO PARK: Wow! This place is absolutely full service. If you are like me and want fewer moving parts and serious wow factor, this is the place for you. Yes, it's expensive. Like, new car expensive. But it is worth it to have everything in one amazing venue. We did our pictures, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception there. The night was an AMAZING success. The food was delicious, the drinks were plentiful, the transitions were quick and painless, and the staff was present but almost invisible. Everything that I wanted to happen that night did. They assign an event coordinator to your wedding who is there to answer every question you have, and as a bride, there are a LOT of questions. We worked with Kristen and she was fantastic; she answered questions thoroughly, had helpful advice (when we asked for it), and problem solved some tricky situations. She talked me off the ledge several times. I had never seen the space set up for a reception before, only corporate events and preset for wedding ceremonies, but when I walked in the door being announced as Mrs., it was pure MAGIC. The venue looked like the perfect blend of rustic and funky, modern and traditional. It was breathtaking. I really can't say enough amazing things about the venue and the exceptional care and attention to detail they put into our event. The only hitches we had were about the alcohol menu. This changes frequently and we found out only a week before our event that the specialty cocktail that we wanted (a John Daly: sweet tea vodka and lemonade) was going to be $5.50 a drink instead of the original $4 a drink. This was quite disheartening. We also were very excited about one of the wine options then found out later that it was unavailable, which was awful because it is our favorite wine as a family that we drink at all holidays, etc. (La Crema Chardonnay...yum). Eventually they found 3 cases of it for us at no additional charge (after I let them know how important it was to us). Overall, I was thrilled with the venue and as the night went on they took such good care of us. There was one server who was in charge of our sweetheart table (just the two of us) and she kept our plates warm while we were socializing, she let us know when events were about to happen, she kept our glasses full of water and wine all night, etc. The bartenders were FANTASTIC and made everyone feel welcome and my guests could not stop talking about the venue and the food. It was amazing! The service, value, and level of personal care and attention we received were exceptional at Sodo Park. I loved the venue and would recommended it as highly as possible if your budget allows for it. Also, use Daniela with Bella Signature Design for your flowers. She is in-house and does miracles regardless of budget. I've done a separate review of her services. She is fantastic as well and it is one less worry about whether the flowers will get there on time or not. read more

One of the nicest wedding venues I've ever experienced. Sodo Park is a monstrous, 100+ year old warehouse that was completely renovated in the mid-2000s to portray a chic old Western feel. I was struck by how versatile the space was -- they were easily able to close off the wings to create an intimate environment for the ceremony and then quickly transform the seating to tables of 8. Per the bride, the venue could comfortably serve weddings with 150-450 guests, and I believe it. There is a cozy upstairs area for the wedding party to chill before and after the ceremony, completely outfit with a kitchen, an area for professional photos, and a couch for the nervous groom. Ha! Outdoors, there was a little nook with heat lamps that was perfect for the groomsmen to briefly get away from the reception and smoke cigars. Excellent food and friendly service, and I can see why Sodo Park is consistently rated as one of the best places to get married in Seattle. read more

I work as a photographer; this review is from the perspective of wedding photography at the venue. I like the space a lot. It strikes me as a modern, less traditional venue. The area they use for ceremonies is spacious. It has a "barn-ey" type feel, so make sure that's a look that you like. There is ample room for your photographer to move around and get multiple angles of your ceremony. They've also got a really cool courtyard area outside, which is a natural space for portraiture.The walls are blue and red and yellow, brightly colored to add some pop to the pictures. (It's also really nice as the night moves on and people want to get outside to grab some fresh air). There's also some space inside for hanging out, with comfy couches. The staff I've interacted with have always been courteous and helped me get photos - for example, letting me come behind the drink stations to snap a few frames. The only reason I don't give them five stars is the location. It's a little far if you're coming from downtown. Manageable, but something that's worth considering. read more

The food was well received- we even have a photo of one of our friends licking her plate, much to her embarrassment. We had about 200 people, and there was never a line in the bathroom. They were cheaper (at the time, not anymore) than most venues, and were very willing to help all of our crazy requests- Jenny, one of their event managers, was always quick to respond to my bridezilla freak outs. We just got married at Sodo Park two days ago and couldn't have imagined a better place to get married to my best friend! The staff was so accomidating and made sure we had everything we needed that night. All of our guests loved the venue space and it fit our 130 guest count perfectly with lots of room to get around. We worked with Kristen and had the best experience. She helped answer every question we had and made sure everything was ready to go so we could enjoy our wedding day! Two good friends just got married here. It was a wonderful space and I couldn't get enough of the delicious food. From crab cakes with sweet potato to mini lamb bites with some sort of scrumptious jam, it was all outstanding. I really love the vintage look of the building itself. Great location for a Wedding, Retirement or other Social event, we went for a friend's wedding. About 180 people attended, they had wedding ceremony there then transformed the seating into a dining area and served the meal, then after the meal was over rearranged the center area into a dance floor. Plenty of free parking in all directions within a block of the location. read more

I went here with a friend for Eat Local Now and thought this place was amazing. Huge old warehouse with original windows, floors, etc. Great ambiance and the event staff was really friendly. I think any party here would be fun! read more

Interesting place; rustic and not rustic, formal and not formal, casual and not casual all wrapped into one. I imagine it's a good place for catered events, as I was there for a company party. The food was good. I enjoyed mostly that it didn't run out, and the staff was earnest in constantly walking around offering more. The only downside to the experience was the parking. There are only a couple small, nearby lots, and the rest is street parking. If you are throwing some kind of event, and can't decide on the dress code, this is a good place. I recently held my wedding at SoDo park. The event itself was fantastic; great food, beautiful ambiance, and good service. We got many compliments on the wedding, which was in no small part due to the facility. The one thing holding me back from giving four stars was the business end of things. As the bride, feeling taken care of was important to me, and I felt a little shorted on that in terms of the time leading up to the big day. Things like when payments were due, going over the contract, reviewing and clarifying final costs were lacking. Being the single largest line item in the total cost of the wedding, it is important that these things be clear and that the client is confident about what they are paying for. I know that Herban Feast is currently growing very quickly. I do hope that the business end of things does not end up marring an otherwise gem of a resource for events in Seattle. read more

The service was not what I expected. I had heard great raves about these guys and was very disappointed. The food was great but the service was really bad. I felt like the waitress was dealing our salads out like she was dealing a deck of cards. During dinner, which they called family style, we served ourselves and were never given any utensils to serve with. When the waitress was removing our plates which took forever she dropped a dirty knife on my dress. I had to have it dry cleaned and the waitress did not even apologize land certainly did not offer to pay for the cleaning. AND the silverware was dirty and there was lipstick, not my color, on the wine glass. Shame on them. This was a beautiful location and the food was great buit if you want more of an experience I would not recommend. read more
