Traveled thru Gila Bend and tried this place. Very good food! Got an "A" grade from the county health inspection.

I stopped in to Sofia's after concluding a meeting at the Town of Gila Bend. The pickings in Gila Bend are pretty slim, but thankfully this place makes up for the lack of restaurants. I had a carne asada burrito and took it to go. While I was there, I did note that the dining area is reasonably clean. The burrito was delicious and filling. I will definitely make this a regular stop when I'm down here for work. read more

There is literally no taste in the food. It's one of the worst restaurants in terms of food taste I have ever eaten at.

We stopped here because a friend recommended it and it was AMAZING!!! First of all the small restaurant (it was too hot to sit at the outside patio) was totally full, but thankfully a gentleman who just finished let us have his table. Sofia was the only server and cashier and we were surprised how well she handled the situation; she was calm and well organized. When we received our food, it was delicious. We shared al a carte a carnitas taco (soft), a crisp ground beef taco, a beef tamale and a chile relleno. I would drive back from Phoenix for the chile relleno and it's sauce!!! Amazing food and great service. Wish she'd open another on in Tucson. I had the shredded beef burro enchilada style. Huge burro, with chopped peppers. Very juicy and tasty. Big glass of iced tea. One of my friend's had the veggie burro, which was huge and the other had the supremo, that had meat, beans and rice in it. We all agreed the food was exceptionally good. read more

We stopped here on a road trip because there wasn't much choice in town and this had decent reviews. It was absolutely disgusting. There was trash on the floor, the waitress came over only once the entire time, and the food was very bland. On the floor was a Burger King bag so I'm guessing other people didn't care for the food either. The bathroom was outside and very dirty. I do not recommend and will not ever go back. read more

Best rice I have ever had. Wonderful lunch had the chile relleno burrito and it was large and very tasty.

First off, the address is incorrect! Google and yelp say 616 E Pima, but it's actually around 530 W. Pulled up at lunch, and the parking lot was full (usually a good sign!), but it also meant we had to wait nearly an hour for our food. Waited almost 20 minutes to have our order taken before going up to the counter. Chips and salsa are delicious, but they charge extra for refills... Food was bland, but filling. After reading the reviews we decided to stop there for lunch. BAD, BAD , BAD choice I had a veggie burrito which was really bad. My husband had a fish burrito which he could not even taste the fish. And the cook or waitress did not even know what kind of fish it was ?!?!?!?!?! Really??? And forgot to mention that the fork was dirty. And the place had too many flies. Of the very limited dining options in Gila Bend for travelers, this place is likely the best. Most of the options are fairly typical Mexican fare but the salsa and gorditas are strangely good. I'm not sure what they do to the salsa but it's amazing. The gorditas are like little flash fried Mexican pockets of meat topped with cheese, lettuce and tomatoe. A real treat, compared to the many other sub-par restaurant options nearby. Lots of locals and travelers, generally a good sign. Very fair prices. Service is acceptable. Not one of the cleanest places I've eaten but I'll be going back for more the next time I pass through. read more

Mmm, yummy. The food was served HOT. Refried beans were good, usually they taste salty at other restaurants. The Jamaica was a little too sweet for my taste buds so I added water and much better. We stopped here on the way to San Diego based on the Yelp reviews and it was definitely worth it! This is a great place to go if you want a delicious and quick meal in lieu of a fast food stop. Sofias is a great option in Gila Bend. The salsa is handmade and so are the chips. I had the Chile rellanos and the veggie burrito which were both delicious and vegetarian. The beans have lard so I didn't get them. Big servings.. Highly recommended. read more

BAD FOOD, BAD SERVICE, TAKES TOO MUCH TIME. Usually cars in the parking lot mean the foods good and probably somewhat fresh since they go through more...especially simple Mexican dishes. In my case it meant that everyone inside was being held hostage! It took 15 minutes just to order iced tea, another 10 minutes for chips and poorly seasoned and extra-thin salsa to arrive. People kept coming in, kinda like a wild animal cage where there's no way out. We placed our order, waited about 35 minutes and then food arrived to our table, but it was missing an enchilada and I was missing silverware. So, being hungry, I picked at my plate with my fingers - testing the temp of everything while we waited for the enchilada and silverware to arrive - and it was all cold. The waitress returned and took my plate, saying she gave me the wrong order, and I told her that since I touched everything I would just eat this order, but NO, she took it to the kitchen then walked it directly to the outside patio guest/victim. Then OUR plates arrived. The chicken on my tostada was still at refrigerator temp and tasted like it was boiled - meaning no flavor at all, the adobada tacos had tough meat, the beans were very thin and we couldn't even see an actual bean in the pile, the rice was equally bad...just a pile of yuk. After waiting 10 minutes in line to pay the bill, we just left cash on the table...it felt like what I imagin it would if you were bailing yourself out of jail. RUN! There should be a -star just for restaurants like this. read more

This is a great little Mexican restaurant. Doesn't look like much from the outside, and the inside is dated, but if you're hungry, this little place serves the food to satisfy. One of the very few places that serves gorditas! And they were delicious. We also enjoyed the tacos and an enchilada combination; and the chips and salsa. No beer or wine, just sodas. If this place was near my house, would be my goto for mex. read more

An almost perfect experience. First time eating at this place, chosen based on ratings, and comments posted here on yelp. Love the atmosphere, feels like home. People very friendly and outgoing. Great service. Delicious food. The only thing is that we must have arrived during their "to go breakfast" rush hour so our food took quite long to be served.
