Was in London for less than 48 hours and had an early flight out. Saw the reviews from others (thanks fellow Yelpers!) and gave this place a go. It's a little on the pricey side as you are paying for convenience and a moderate to higher end hotel. the location is located within the outskirts of terminal 5, by the car port/bus station. There's a connected walkway and takes about 10 min (walking at a leisurely pace and waiting for the elevator) to get from hotel to the trains. The hotel is quiet large. The room is nice, spacious (especially for London) and serves it's purpose. The front desk was non stop busy with tourists, families, solo travelers and business people coming or going throughout the day. If you need a nice, safe, clean, convenient place while in London for a short stay and are flying out of LHR, this is a solid place. It's in terminal 5 so departures are right there. If you are flying out of another terminal (2, 3 or 4) it's a quick free train ride. read more

Lovely hotel in a very busy airport, Heathrow. For the volume it serves, the place is exceptionally clean, bright, and well designed. A very nice staff, that really looks out for the tired traveler. Prices which are not unreasonable either. Big and spacious rooms, a bar, a store where you can purchase travel trinkets and sundries, and decent restaurant too. No negatives whatsoever. The design flaw in our room was the only electrical outlet was across the room at the desk so my power converter wouldn't reach but they brought an extension to the room. Pretty decent hotel, good location. Decided to stay here 2 nights before our international flight. Fairly easy to find. From Terminal 5: If you're facing out towards street, go to far right. Look for small Sofitel sign. Take lift to Level 1. Once on Level 1, you'll see a big sign for Sofitel. Rooms spacious. We have a room on the interior (view of hotel area, no direct sunlight). Rooms are pretty quiet with no noise from airplanes. US outlet available on desk, but it did not work. Bring your adapter. Bathroom spacious, great water pressure. A/c was lovely, no fan noise. Easy to get to Tube and Elizabeth Line. I would stay here again. read more

This was a great idea to stay here the night before an early flight from T-5 Heathrow. it will be just a elevator to the departure area after we check out n But the plan to dine in the hotel restaurant fell flat. Arriving for dinner close to closing , we wound up in a sea of tables with dishes and napkins and glasses Never picked up b Our server never checked on us and we ate an undercooked pasta dinner that we would have traded for another meal. The sandwich cafe in T-5 above would have been the better choice. Our room is large and well appointed. The bed was comfy and warm. So, i would come back for the accommodations. read more

I love this hotel when I have an early morning flight from Heathrow. The Piccadilly line goes to T5 where it's located. Takes about 10 minutes or so to get here once you exit tube. There is a nice M&S market before you come up to get some snacks. Full service hotel but I've never eaten here or grabbed a drink at the bar. Robe and slippers as well as a couple of waters are provided. I didn't give it a 5 because the room is so warm, for me at least. I have a portable fan, so that helps. You have to keep key in the door reader for anything to work, so when I go out, I pull out key and room heats up again! But other than that no complaints. It's very clean and so convenient to T5. Hotel is a maze, so add some time when leaving and arriving. read more

My family and I had a great stay at the Sofitel for two nights which included breakfast in the restaurant. The lobby is very modern and sleek. There is a gift shop and a variety of restaurants. Front desk staff were efficient and helpful. The opera suite that we stayed in had a nice living room in the middle of the two rooms for our family (1 room had a king bed and the other had 2 twin beds - both rooms had their own restroom). The suite included complimentary drinks in the mini bar (sodas, waters, juices, and alcohol) as well as a coffee/espresso machine, and an additional washroom. As part of our stay we were offered use of the club lounge and hydrotherapy pool. The room was clean with a comfortable bed (although the sheets/comforter were a little scratchy to the touch), as well as slippers and robes. Lots of free single use amenities were included like toothbrushes and toothpaste, hairbrushes, and there was shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in shower/bathtub. The bathroom even included a television and a phone! My only complaints were the carpet in the hallways which made it a little difficult to drag our suitcases to and from the room, and the lack of outlets - however if you call housekeeping you can borrow a UK plug adapter and/or USB outlet for free. The included breakfast in Vivre was very nice and included a omelet/eggs station and made-to-order waffles and pancakes, as well as a variety of fresh juices, fruits, everything for a traditional full English Breakfast (baked beans, hash brown, bacon, sausage, black pudding, etc), pastries and breads, porridge, and more. I was particularly a fan of the fresh well-baked croissants. If you are going to be flying into/out of Heathrow and need a hotel to stay in for a short stay, I recommend staying here. It is quite far from any restaurants/sights though so that may be something to consider if you are looking for an extended stay in London. read more

For a luxury branded hotel I call it average at best. The staff are usually not well trained or managed and the rooms can be dated and even smoky. Avoid the bars and restaurants unless you like sub par for your d and service at high prices and staff that don't even know the menu. IMPORTANT UPDATE: I am changing my review. I have not stayed at the Sofitel yet, but based on the customer service I received by a Reservations Agent Devya, I can't imagine my one-night stay being anything but top-rate. This was an important reservation because of a 7:40a.m. flight the next morning and a husband with mobility problems requiring us to be as close to Heathrow T5 as possible. I had written a poor review because I needed to change reservation from Sept. 1 to Aug 31 and worked through the Expedia site to do so. Expedia told me they tried and tried and were refused time and again by Sofitel. This was not true. Devya stated that my review was the first time Sofitel heard about my situation and could find no record of Expedia contacting them. She also assured me that Sofitel would certainly have made the requested change had they been contacted by Expedia. I don't know where the mix-up occurred, but actions speak louder than words and I do know that Devya was extremely helpful, recognized how upset I had been and wanted to assure me all was fixed. And it was. Devya changed my reservation to the date I wanted and cancelled the mistaken reservation while I was on the phone. I received a confirmation of the change by email and I'm looking forward to staying there. MY MISTAKE was apparently not contacting the hotel directly when Expedia told me there was nothing they could do. I could have fixed this myself. But I was fortunate that Sofitel takes complaints seriously and they work overtime to make sure their guests feel good about staying there. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm sure the Sofitel is a good hotel and certainly the perfect one to stay at if you have an early flight out of Heathrow. 7:40 AM qualifies so I booked a room on the advice of many. I was rather frazzled when I booked and accidentally booked a room for one night for a Sept 1 check-in and a Sept 2 check-out. Last week, a full two weeks before my stay, I realized this was a mistake and I meant to check in AUGUST 31 and check out SEPTEMBER 1. They would not budge. My reservation was uncancellable and unchangeable and so I had to rebook -- AT THE COST OF AN ADDITIONAL RESERVATION -- in order to stay there, which for various medical reasons, I needed to do. Not even Expedia, working on my behalf got them to budge. So they're great. Just make sure you don't make a mistake because great as they may be they won't even let you back up 24 hours. read more

Room service phone line was busy, when called the front desk to see what was the issue they said "call back in five minutes", walked over to the airport and grabbed some food at M&S. This is a very nice and conventional hotel located on premises at Heathrow Airport. Check in was easy and the room was stylish, comfortable, and very clean. We arrived early in the evening and were tired and hungry, so room service was in order. I am happy to report that the food we ordered came in the time promised (30minutes) and looked and tasted excellent. Belly full we fell into a deep sleep in the supper comfy bed. I would highly suggest a stay here at Sofitel Heathrow when you find the need to stay close to the airport for an early flight out the next day. read more

I had a really great experience here. I had less than 24 hours here so wanted a hotel not far from the airport. This hotel was perfect because it was connected to the airport and easy access to metro to go into town. They also have a decent amount of food options onsite if you don't want to venture too far. Actually a very decent hotel for a very busy hotel at London, Heathrow Airport. Super convenient, quiet and nice. Very busy as you'd guess, but the staff are very sharp and on top of everything with helpers nearby to deal with luggage storage help, other questions etc. Went to the bar for a drink at arrival was sticky and smelly. Very crowded maybe not a great idea to sit here. Maybe get a drink to go? Couldn't get anyone to help me get one drink but it is maybe that English thing where if you are trying to flag them down, they will not help you. I was looking for a place to spend a loooong layover in London. Sofitel is next to terminal 5, so I booked a room there. In Covid era, it is good to rely on the Sofitel brand for clean, comfortable and care-free accommodation. Rooms are large and comfortable. And quiet!!! Bath/shower combo, good lighting and international plugs. Room service courteous and fast. I asked for late check out, so I was stress-free. We recently stayed at the Sofitel London Heathrow the night before an international flight. Depending on how you arrive (directly from the airport Terminal or via the front door) you may have a different experience. We arrived by shuttle bus after returning our rental vehicle, and thus did not have to figure out how to stay in the correct lanes, figure out how to enter the gate, or have to battle for parking . We can see how this may be stressful for others who are not local to the area. Upon entering, there is a spacious lobby and several members of staff that are happy to help you get checked in. Due to our time of arrival, there was a short wait, but the staff seemed to give each person the care and attention they needed. There is a gift shop inside the hotel for trinkets and a candy store. There are several restaurants available, however it would have been helpful to know what time they opened or to have been presented with the opportunity to reserve a table. We dined at Vivre and then came back upstairs for a nap. The room was quite spacious. As a germophone I made sure that the bathroom, bed, and general areas were clean. Cleanliness was something others found lacking, thankfully that was not the case for our room. The TV was weirdly loud when we arrived, but we quickly resolved that. The bed is very comfortable. There is a phone by the bed, one a few feet away on the desk, and one in the bathroom. The outlets to charge your devices are located on the desk, which may be slightly inconvenient. In our case, it forced us to avoid doom scrolling on the internet and get some actual rest. There were two complimentary water bottles in the room, coffee, tea, and a kettle. Room service starts at 11PM. It was difficult to get someone on the line, eventually we just let it ring on speaker phone. Surprisingly, they called us back and we were able to order pizza. The timing was not too bad, just under ~25 minutes. We were surprised at how large it was, but thankful that we didnt have to order a second one. We placed our breakfast order using the door hanger. This was probably the best (for us) as we could get ready before our long flight without interruption. The breakfast was quite large and everything was prepared perfectly. If traveling out of terminal 5, I would likely stay at the Sofitel. I do like to compare prices, distances, ect, before making my selection. read more

I've stayed at the Sofitel twice now when traveling to London and I'll say the #1 reason to book this hotel is for the convenience factor if your flying into Heathrow and staying local. Nothing better then getting off an 11-hour flight and walking straight from baggage to your hotel. It's easy and this is why I'd choose this hotel 4/5 when traveling. Plenty of signs throughout the airport to easily find the hotel. Not complicated at all. Also the hotel is right next to the underground tram entrance (you can't hear it when at the hotel) but made it easy to go right from the tube into town from the hotel. Way cheaper then getting a cab. The interior of the hotel near check in is lovely and the rooms are casual but nice. The beds in the room are super comfortable and the bathrooms are large. The restaurant in the hotel is also really good, just make sure to get a reservation or dine early. The cons about the hotel was that during our last stay (July 2022) there were some issues with the room. Not all of the outlets worked, the TV would randomly turn on and off, and the bathroom didn't seem as clean as I would have hoped. There were some food crumbs by the bathtub and old candy left in a hotel drawer. Pretty ick. But post covid I know it's been hard fo find help and have everything perfect so I just let it go. I stayed here back in 2018 and the rooms were flawless/better service. My first trip in 2018 I would have given this hotel 5 stars and this year 2022 I'd say three stars just because of the issues with the room. That equals out to 4 star review. I would stay here again, just hoping the misses this time were a fluke. read more

Perfect hotel for an overnight in Terminal 5! Signage in the airport could have been a bit larger to find the hotel but we asked for help and a kind gentleman gave us the directions we needed. Though coming from the terminal, the elevator down to the hotel lobby was out of order, so you had no choice but to use the escalator which with luggage is a challenge. A very kind woman helped me with one of my bags--going down is a bit unnerving when you're getting on the escalator with 2 bags. Comfortable hotel, bed was wonderful. I stayed here on the last night of a two-week multi country trip on a day we took a four hour train ride through Switzerland and then flew from Geneva to LHR. By the time I got here I was exhausted - and so grateful I was booked to stay at the airport before my morning flight. It's a haul when you are coming into a totally different terminal, but way better than trying to leave the airport and stay somewhere. I was never so glad to see a clean and comfortable room, a nice shower, be able to order some room service that came quickly, watch TV, and get a good nights sleep. Easy check in. Terminal 5 is not overly conviennent If you are traveling back and forth to London at all. Better and more frequent train service to T2/3. After a stellar welcome at the hotel led by Reception lead Aartee and Manager Alex, The hotel fell off its stellar start, big time, because of a lack of service. We ordered food delivery for the room for supper and it took over 2 1/2 hours. We did go to the reception floor because NO ONE answered the phones, nor did anyone on the Room Service line. We know we did get supper because of Aartee! Thank you Ma'am. We filled out the card to be left out at night to get coffee in the morning nothing was ever delivered. Really really challenging. The Elite Lounge, for an extra price, turned out to be wonderful yesterday the day we flew out. A very kind person in the room cooked us up scrambled eggs and gorgeous bacon. The choices of fruit smoothies cereals and gluten-free breads was very appreciated. Another incredibly frustrating situation was the fact that American Airlines flew out of terminal three which we had to wait for a taxi for about 45 minutes. The reception agent downstairs was very aware of how irritated we were and tried his best to get someone quickly to take us in a taxi from terminal five to terminal three. The cost was 25 pounds ~~crazy. The biggest take-away from this trip, our 5th time to Dorset County, was try to avoid any time in England when there are bank holidays. This was a really big deal because it was the Queen's Jubilee weekend. We do love England! read more

Booked a room over the phone and specifically mentioned I was arriving at 2 pm leaving at around 8. My flight was late, so when I finally made it to the reception was told checkout time is 6 pm sharp - i.e. £110 for a 2 hour stay. I appreciate there are hotel policies, but it would have saved me a long walk and wait at the receptions should the hotels reservations be honest about checkout times. For poor souls like myself arriving in the afternoon and leaving at night - there are other by hour hotels around Heathrow. Don't waste your time / trust Sofitels assurances that they can accommodate checkout after 6 pm. read more

Staying at the Sofitel at Heathrow was such a cool experience. It connects directly to terminal 5 so you don't even have to leave the airport to get to your hotel. Plus, you feel so luxurious the moment you step out of the elevator and into the hallway that takes you to the airport. The hallway smells just like a spa!! The front desk is 24/7. And they upgraded us with free breakfast. The hotel rooms are clean and luxurious. I loved how comfortable the bed was. If you have breakfast included with your stay, it's a fun experience as well. It's a full all you can eat buffet. Next time we have an opportunity to fly into Heathrow, this will be my go-to hotel! read more

I have stayed at Sofitel properties in the past and have had positive experiences. But the Sofitel London Heathrow was horrible, and I had the displeasure of being charged over £700 for 2 nights (6/5-6/7), in a room, not a suite, not with a bottle of champs on ice and a fruit basket awaiting me in the room, just...a...room. When I checked in, I was told I was being "upgraded" at no charge. I didn't ask questions, who doesn't like an upgrade? And considering how much I paid, I was happy. Initially. Then I got to the room. Unbelievable how little for so much. The bedside controls didn't work, it was late (10:30PM) and I was tired so I just went to bed planning to deal with it in the morning. Unfortunately I stubbed my toe trying to get to bed in the dark after turning the lights off near the door, and subsequently was smart enough to use my cellphone for light. I didn't sleep well, eventually gave in and got up at 6:15AM. I was hungry and threw on some clothes, brushed my hair and teeth and went down for breakfast. I spoke to someone at the front desk about the fact that the light switches at the bedside didn't work, they said they'd send someone up, and I went and ate (6:45AM). I returned to the room about 7:30AM and found the aforementioned nonfunctional electronic controls at the bedside left exposed by the maintenance crewman who had come while I was out. Then I waited. The maintenance guy only returned when I called downstairs again (9:30AM) and asked if they'd be finishing the job because they left exposed wires, and also asked if they have an EU adapter I could borrow-they said they'd send over with housekeeping. The guy showed up 5min later, fiddled with the exposed wires, left again for 30min without explanation, only to return to advise he could not repair them as there were no spare parts. He reaffixed the plates and left. I went back downstairs again (no one was answering the phone) to inquire about the adapter, only to be told I could buy one in the gift shop and when I expressed my lack of interest in spending any additional money, one miraculously appeared from the back office. Finally I was able to take a shower! (10:50AM) Other grievances: there was the surprise discovery while showering of an empty shower gel container as well as the empty lotion container at the sink. I'm now feeling like I received a "downgrade" not an upgrade, and I started to notice other things: the fingerprints and smudges on the mirrors in the bedroom and bathroom, the crushed lampshade to the right of the bedroom mirror, and the unceremoniously opened drapes (they had come in and made the bed when I was at breakfast) just disappointing on so many levels. They use refillable gels & lotions, a cost savings to them, especially if they're not being filled, and this is billed as a luxury hotel??? Also seeing my name listed as "Mr." on the roster at breakfast (I was born and identify as female), then to be told by the manager that breakfast was not included when I know I had clicked the option w/breakfast when reserving (AND I PAID over £700!!!!), it was just all too much or indeed too little considering the lack of attention to detail and service for how much was paid. I chose to stay at the Sofitel first because of the convenience of being walking distance to the Underground to get back into London, walking distance to terminal 5, and because I have stayed at other Sofitel properties without incident. I regrettably accepted the fact that the price had increased by over £200 because I waited too long to book, but I fail to see how the Sofitel can advertise itself as a luxury hotel with such abysmal conditions and service. While I appreciated the offer by the manager to move me to another room, & indeed did, this was a new inconvenience since I had to return to the room & pack up things to be moved. The bellhop sent upstairs with me said he'd wait outside for me to pack up, but I had to ask him for the card key so I could turn the lights on to see what I was doing, apparently he saw no problem with me having to pack up in the dark. Another example of lack of attention to detail and service. The new room was nothing special, the lotion and gel containers were full, but surprise surprise, the bedside light switches didn't work here either. So much time wasted on my last day in London, I didn't make it out of the hotel until 12:30. I spoke with the manager Abhijit Mufti twice, and he said he would discuss this with his manager. I have sent a total of 3 emails since returning home and they have no interest in putting things right by providing a partial refund. I have not heard anything from anyone..... I could have saved myself several hundred pounds staying a few minutes down the road and received a more functional less "distressed" accommodation. I would suggest you do too, it is absolutely NOT worth the exorbitant cost. read more

I've stayed at a lot of hotels for work, but this one was a lot classier and had a lot more amenities than your average airport hotel. The interior was huge (and beautiful!), the staff was helpful, and the breakfast was top notch! They served breakfast from 6-10:30 am, so I rolled down at 10 thinking I would get whatever is left over. But I was surprised to be seated to a table in the hotel restaurant, where there was no shortage of food, juices, or tea! They even had vegetarian sausage for their full English breakfast! Then I went to the gym, which is located in the luxurious spa. It was small but had a lot of great and useful equipment. Also located in the sprawling lobby were a gift shop, bar, travel office, another cafe area, and probably a lot of other things I didn't even see. Long story short: if you want a convenient place to stay with all the comfort you could possibly need, this is the place! read more

I stayed one night at the Sofitel London Heathrow due to an early morning flight. I wanted to avoid the hassle of getting to Heathrow at 6am. My plane landed early, and so I just wanted to change and drop my bag at the hotel before my day. The receptionist was very helpful. Post changing and freshening up, the bellhops were very rude that I was just checking in and wanted to store my bag until my room was available. Upon leaving the hotel, I realized I forgot something and went back. The bellhop that assisted me in getting my bag out was clearly annoyed that I forgot something- not like I did it on purpose. Post my day in London, I returned to Sofitel to check in. Different receptionist who was very polite. But, again, the bellhops were rude. My room was a standard Sofitel room. I've stayed at the Sofitel in Gatwick before. I bought dinner at M & S in the terminal, so I did not use room service. I scheduled a wake up call at 6am. At 5am, the phone range for a wake up call. 2 minutes later, it rang, again. I was wide away for the next hour. Again, I stayed here for convenience. The Sofitel London Heathrow is a great place to stay if you have an early flight. We liked the room and got a pretty good nights sleep. The beds and pillows had me melting in them. The only negative was that our windows overlooked the lobby corridor so that was a bit weird not to have natural light. We were exhausted so we didn't want to bother with changing rooms and left our shades closed the entire time. I would suggest asking for an exterior room if you like to see out the windows and prefer to wake up to natural daylight. The rooms are quiet and clean. The hotel does have a fitness room and a spa however, we did not use them. If you don't feel like venturing far from the hotel for dinner the hotel has a casual bar, a casual restaurant, and a more upscale restaurant. We chose to dine at the casual restaurant and the food was average. When departing from the hotel check which terminal your flight departs from. The train was delayed to the other terminals. After finally arriving to Terminal 2 there is quite a long walk from the train to the check in area. It took more time than expected and we were a little short on time. I would suggest taking a bus or taxi if you are tight on time and departing from a different terminal other than 5. However, if your flight is arriving or departing from Terminal 5 it is a quick walk and easy since the hotel is located just off of Terminal 5. I would definitely stay here again if arriving into Terminal 5 late or departing on an early morning flight. read more

The good and the bad. Let's go with the good first. The hotel has generally friendly and helpful staff, does a good job of presenting clean rooms and spaces for tired travelers, and is prompt and responsive to needs. But, the bad - the hotel SERIOUSLY needs to invest in upgrades to their power distributions in their rooms. And this will be a slight rant. There are NO OUTLETS, including USB, UK, or any other variant within 8-9 feet (2.5 meters) of the head of the bed. Travelers, especially those at airport hotels, value INFORMATION, and information is on people's personal devices. It isn't possible to go into this hotel, plug in your phone by your bed with your alarm set or calming music beside you, or go to sleep without needing to power your device across the room. You can't roll over and check flights or gates...you need to fully wake up, which takes away all of the comfort the hotel may otherwise offer. When asked, they happily provided extension cord outlet strips, but this is a glaring indication of a dated hotel. Even updating their bedside lamps to include a USB or USB-C outlet would be a stopgap solution without renovating rooms. While I appreciate the staff, proximity, and comfort, this lack of information negated most of the good. Please work on developing a plan to update to a modern standard. (Also, please update dishwashing standards in the bar area - my wine glass base was dirty and sticky, the result of an older washing system, I am sure. The "paper doily" under the glass stuck to it when I first picked it up. After struggling, I had to use water from my cup and a napkin to clean it) Staff great. Facilities are an Achilles heel. Invest some of the money you are making in upgrades. read more

We chose to stay here the night before our honeymoon, as it had a spa and pool. We decided to venture down to use the gym then the steam room and jacuzzi, only to find that they were hired exclusively and we therefore couldn't use the spa and the gym was a few weights and a treadmill in a bedroom... not five star. We were not notified, and we certainly would not have paid £290 stay plus £25 parking for one night. Booking.com's policy is to notify guests of any changes, as we could have cancelled up until 2pm, but they did not notify us at all, and are therefore in breach of their policy. After multiple terribly handled complaints (after being offered 20% off we were then offered 15% off...) we've had a dire experience, and wouldn't recommend staying here to anyone. Especially not the night before a once in a lifetime trip. read more
