Soggy's has long been my friend groups favorite spot. Good affordable food, sometimes service can be a little scattered because they get busy, but their attitudes often make up for it. Stopped in for a quick bite while passing through Flint and this spot didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting with many cool nostalgic items throughout the bar. The drink menu was large with lots of special cocktails and shoot specials. The service was fantastic the place was slammed but the two bar tenders kept up with the crowd. Unfortunately both were underwhelming. The jalapeño cream cheese egg rolls were average and luke warm. The blackened salmon sandwich was flat and had a fishy smell. I only finished half. If you want some Flint vibes, this is definitely the place to go right when you walk in the service will look at you and probably not seat you for the next 10 minutes. The location is very small but very popular. The food is actually very good. the aïoli fries are 10 out of 10. I wish the staff was nicer but they work at a bar so They must not like tips. After ownership changed so has the customer service. I've been going for years, never had issues. But have noticed how customers have been treated after the change. They talk to others as if we're there for handouts. Alex was always my favorite, but got sassy with me over a nachos order. I was gonna just take it even tho that's not what I ordered until he kept talking trash in the background. I wished him happy holidays and simply left, no need to be disrespectful, I have to much class. It will be a long time before I go back. Soggy Bottoms appears to be a dive bar with a small stage or dance floor, beers on tap and greasy bar food. We tried to eat here with a couple families on a random Saturday afternoon, but weren't able to find service. Shortlt after walking in, we were asked to leave by a shabby looking bartender. Despite having several open tables and plenty of seating for our group, the bartender advised us to find some place else to eat. I think it was the fact that we had teenagers with us, but who knows... either way, he was a jerk and made several of the families feel unwelcome. SBB has become a regular stop for me. Great bar and table service, and for sure kitchen staff serving up foods beyond what one might expect in a pub. While there are many great items on the menu, the absolute hit are the burgers, which are also all available as sliders! The beef, the buns, the toppings are all spot on, as are the crab cake, fish and chicken patties served. Back in Michigan for a few days, met a friend from Saginaw here based on reviews. The staff were friendly and attentive. The prices are very reasonable, especially some of the domestic beers which were $2 - 4 a can. Started with the jalapeno popper egg rolls, which were a cool twist on a popular appetizer. They were well made with a good ratio of cream cheese to eggroll. They were served with a ranch, but seeing as they were already creamy, I think a side of Sriracha or other spicy sauce would go well, or something acidic. I had the House Specialty burger, my buddy had the Black and Blue blue cheese burger. Both were ordered medium and delivered with just a touch of pink in the center. . Taking the advice of another Yelper we kept them in the wax paper wraps, which was a great move because the burgers were exceptionally juicy and you don't want to be wearing it. This was probably the best burger I've had in years, I wish I could get them that level of medium AND juicy everywhere else. The music was a bit loud for easy conversation, but that was minor compared to the overall very positive experience. read more

We come to Flint once a year to run the CRIM 10-miler. Coming from Boston, I find the food scene a bit challenging. This place was recommended to us by the owner of the cheese shop in the Flint Farmers Market. I was like, a burger place? A bar? Not sure about this. Well, I am so glad we came here. Singlehandedly the best burger I've ever had. It's not over the top with 1/2 pound of super expensive designer Wagyu. It's a burger. I got the Spicy Southwestern with loaded fries. The bun is soft and buttered and warm. The burger was a perfect medium rare and so juicy. It had spicy pepper jack, lettuce, jalapenos and pico. I asked for a slab of red onion. It came half wrapped in brown paper. That was genius!!! The paper caught the juices so my hands didn't get all greasy. Instead I could eat the burger until it was eaten down enough for me to take the paper off. The loaded fries were like a poutine with loaded baked potato fixings - so good! The service was good. The place was. Yay and loud when we first walked in around 6pm. The place cleared out to a manageable level. There is a full bar and what looks like a small stage for music as you enter. No music tonight though. The server was busy but he was good. Didn't miss a beat managing all of the tables. Oh. Got the popper eggroll. Not what I expected. It was an egg roll that was stuffed with cream cheese and had chopped bits of jalapenos. It was way too cheesey I won't order this one again. I would have done this differently. I would have used a half jalapeno like usual, stuffed it with shredded cheddar that was mixed with cream cheese. And maybe some bits of crumbled bacon. Wrapped it in a spring roller wrapper instead of an egg roll wrapper and then deep fried it. I would have served it with that Chinese duck sauce with a little chili sambal mixed in for a tiny kick. You know. The jars with the green top? This would give the crunch, the swéet with the spicy and a real jalapeno popper. Anyway... I will be back. This is our Go To place in Flint now! read more

As a new arrival to Grand Blanc my Yelping had this place front & center on my radar and SB did not disappoint! Neither Yelp nor SB's social media presence implied this to be a college bar, but its proximity to UM Flint definitely gives this place an eclectic vibe. Wife & I loved it. You'll find both students & school staff here yet all are welcome. We made a conscious choice to keep ordering simple to judge on the basics: we both ordered burger/fries. I got the Porker w/sweet potato & she ordered the house burger & truffle fries. First the fries. We agreed the truffle fries were better. Sweet potato were okay and the dipping sauce was a real good pairing. The truffle fries though have an addictive quality. I could easily scarf down a full side of these and probably will in the near future. Burgers.... they're interesting. Tasty? Yes, no doubt. They are however quite a mess. They come in a brown paper wrapper; use it. Don't take the burger out and try to slice it in half like we did. Big mistake. The buns aren't weak, but under burger heavy on toppings they need help. And that gets to what appears to be SB's burger value proposition: patty is a bit on the smaller side (though not tiny), paired with heaping helpings of tasty & well-matched toppings. Combine with good fries at a reasonable price. We look forward to sampling the other burgers. And eventually the rest of the menu too. There's a thoughtfulness to the SB way of doing things. Specific choices that have aged over time to make a bar with that special patina you rarely see. The drink and food menus are delightfully original. Some expected and unexpected things. Irish coffee with hand whipped cream. Grilled cheese and tomato soup. These are not items you'd expect but I ordered them and they made me very happy. One of my Favorite spots in Downtown Flint. They have Vegan options! The Black Bean Nachos are crazy good. I'll get black bean nachos no chips but all ingredients in a wrap with hot sauce on the side. Great flavors, food is fresh and staff is friendly. They always keep it honest and transparent if a dish hasn't been tried. This isn't just a bar it's a great low key chill vibe. Parking on the side of building. Located near the downtown area, this establishment has a menu is curated and fine tuned, so much that no matter what you order, you'll receive a quality meal. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items, and the their cocktail menu has a variety of items that are all executed well. My personal favorites have always been the burger options with the appetizers. My personal favorites are the Swiss mushroom burger, the black and blue, and black bean nachos. The level of care they put into crafting their burgers becomes obvious when you dive into every bite. As a result of the current pandemic, I have now used their take out, and I can say that their quality has not dropped. Would have loved to have tried this on Saturday based on reviews, but despite the 2 signs near the door that said "Please Wait to be Seated," no one wanted to acknowledge us. So we waited about 5 minutes and left. It was not crowded. People were seated and eating. The people before us left too after trying to get someone's attention. I know times are tough with staffing in the restaurant industry, but you absolutely must acknowlege people who really want to give you business, at least with a "hello, I will seat you in 5 minutes (or 10, 15, whatever), we are short staffed and doing the best we can." The bar was pretty full and we tried to order in the back; the bartender wasn't very kind about us trying to get things to go at that point. But! It was very busy so I dont fault them. I have been here twice in the last 5 days that I've been visiting and both times I had a great time. Service: Exceptional bartenders worked the entire bar and frequently checked in.
