So Haven't been in 6 month. May never return. Have gone here for 10 years Not the normal staff. Waited 1 hour after I order take out???!! It's Thai! 15 minutes max. The appetizers here were great! So good that we had at least 75% eaten before I realized I hadn't taken a photo. My favorite were the spring (crispy) rolls, but the egg rolls and satay were good as well. The pad woon sen was okay, but was really lacking seasoning and spice--it tasted like veggies stir fried in oil with glass noodles added and nothing else. In hindsight, I probably should have requested it spicy. The restaurant is cute inside and the service was super fast. I would try it again and ask for my entree prepared spicy! read more

Tucked away in this little aging strip mall is a delightful little hole in the wall with probably some of the best Thai cuisine around. The first time we dined here it was odd because there were very few dine in guests, but we took our chances. The menu is full of authentic fare that is full of flavor and is absolutely to die for. On this visit, I had my girlfriend with me and she had never been here. We shared pad thai with beef and it was a bit sweet, a bit spicy, and plentiful in size for 2 people to share. We also had a seafood delight called seafood red curry. This appears like a creamy soup with mussels, shrimp, calamari with coconut milk, pineapple, peppers, baby corn, carrot, peas, bamboo shoots and tomato. It is super flavorful and comes with a side of rice that you mix into it. The staff is small...the owner and his wife waiting tables. They don't speak much English but are very friendly and they aim to please. We have been back a couple other times since our first visit and plan to make them a regular treat. read more

Please eat here!! This restaurant is tucked away in an old strip mall, but their location has no impact on how good their food tastes. Their service is always so friendly and prompt, with attention to any modifications we request. So far, we've only tried the pad thai, which is super flavorful and delicious. However, we plan to come back to try the larb gai salad, eggplant, mussamun curry, and drunken noodles. It's been so refreshing to find quality Thai food when I'm here for school. Noodle Alley is by far the best Thai food in town. The service is quick and friendly. The noodles are always fresh and hot. You can tell they are made in house. I usually get the tofu pad Thai and haven't strayed because it's soo good! Perfect amount of flavor and spice i always forget to take a photo at the beginning bc I'm too exited to eat it! This place came highly recommended by a friend that used to live in the area so I had to check it out. I'm glad I tried it. I'll be honestly I probably wouldn't have found the place on my own. It's definitely tucked in a little corner of a shopping strip and is not in the most visible area. I'll be honestly the food was good but the flavors were a little different from what I'm used to when it comes to pad thai. They have a really wide variety on their menu. We decided to try this spot since I love Thai food and there were rave reviews. I'll start with the best parts of our meal: the steamed dumplings were tasty (I especially liked the sauce) and they have a really great Pad Thai. We were however disappointed with the rest of our meal. We ordered eggplant and the sweet and sour with chicken and were unimpressed with the flavor of both. Neither sauce had great depth. I used to work in a Thai restaurant, so my standards are honestly very high. We did takeout, even though the dining room was open. The space is quaint, but on the older side. I usually pick a favorite and stick with it. But here I've tried most of the dishes and every one of them is delicious. I prefer spicy, and there is only one other Asian restaurant in this area, that will actually make it as spicy as I like it. The food was good we had the Spicy Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles) with beef, Gai Yang (Thai grilled chicken) and for appetizers the crab rangoon with crispy egg rolls. I must say the crab rangoon was so light and the egg rolls was very crispy and flavorful. I've been to many Thai restaurants and the food here is very authentic. No long waits to be seated or served. I've always had pleasant experience when I dine in. The food comes between ~10-15 mins after order and they're decently priced. I tried Pad Kee Mao, and Pad See Ew as well as the Duck Noodle soup. If I had reviewed this place after the first several times I went there ( in early 2011), it would've gotten 4 stars, with maybe even a 4.5 write-in; however, the quality of the service and food slowly deteriorated through when I graduated college in May 2012 and left area (though I still went... which says something). They have a really bad practice of bringing out dishes very far apart, even up to 15 minutes one time. Not saying that they should bring out 1 cold dish and 1 hot dish, but the cooking timing should be better. Noodle Alley's pad thai is the best pad thai I've had. I've had a lot of pad thai, and it's not my all time favorite thai dish, but this is really good pad thai. Something about it - not too saucy, noodles are the right firmness, lots of peanuts, fresh veggies, and good amounts of meat/tofu. Their thai fried rice is very good too, and the crab rangoon is outrageously tasty. Again, I noticed a slight deterioration in food quality over the year and a half I frequented here, but the most noticeable degradation was in service. I would recommend it, but mostly for takeout. And very specifically for crab rangoon + pad thai. read more

3.5 stars Hidden in an old shopping mall, the curiously-named Noodle Alley is a refreshing change from the boring chain restaurants that usually dominate South Bend. They have a decent number of noodle dishes, but it is not a noodle specialty restaurant despite its name. Instead, Noodle Alley is a respite for homely and classic Thai dishes, with a sprinkling of "Americanized" chinese selections. For appetizers, their spring rolls are fresh and crispy, even if the filling is only cabbage.... Of course, at a Thai restaurant, it is important to try their pad thai ($8). It was flavored and seasoned well, despite the stinginess of the beef (which was tough and stringy anyways). Personally, I prefer their rice dishes such as pineapple or mango fried rice. They also have many curry choices with the 3 classic bases: red, green, or yellow, ranging from $7-$13 depending on the meats. Both their red and green curries are tasty, and filled with lots of vegetables ranging from bamboo, peppers, and broccoli. Although the broth is a bit watery, all the curries I've tried are seasoned well (and err on the side of mild so ask for more spicy stars). Other dishes I've tried include the ginger fish ($12) which was just battered fish tossed in some sweet sauce, lacking ginger flavor, or any crispiness. However, for Mishawaka, Noodle Alley is a nice authentic change of pace without the grease overload that you find at subpar Asian restaurants and definitely one of the better places in the area. Service is below average, simply because it is only one waiter (owner's son I presume) for the entire place. I have never seen additional help besides him in the couple times I've been there. My husband and I ate here on Friday night and enjoyed it immensely. The service was great, the food was very tasty, and the prices were reasonable - you can't beat that combination! We started with the dumplings, which were very light and fresh-tasting. The flavor was more delicate and less greasy than many other dumplings I've eaten, and we enjoyed them very much. For dinner, I had the drunken noodles with chicken, spicy, and my husband had the volcano chicken, also spicy. Both entrees were perfectly prepared and well-balanced in flavor. The basil leaves in the drunken noodles added a unique element in combination with the rest of the ingredients, and the effect was wonderful. The volcano chicken was battered and fried, but again was far less greasy than similar dinners I've eaten elsewhere. The balance of spice was perfect, the chicken was tender and moist, and the batter was beautifully crispy. We were too full for dessert, but the mango sticky rice sounded really good! We have wanted to try Thai food for a long time, but just never had the time, so when our car was getting worked on we decided to walk around this little strip mall. Man am I glad I decided to walk back in the little "alley" that this place was in. I am a huge fan of Thai food now. I tried the Chicken and Coconut soup, it was good much, much better than the typical wonton soup offered at any Chinese place. My wife went for the dumplings, they were better than traditional Chinese dumplings, more veggies which I have to admit I was a fan of the veggies. For the entrée I had the Pad Thai with chicken, it was delicious, best Asian noodle dish I have ever tried. My wife got something that I can't remember the name of, but it was half a roasted chicken, with rice, and a cucumber salad along with a spicy sauce, it was excellent. The menu had some Chinese options on it, but the majority was Thai, or so the waiter and the little headings told us. The waiter could have been a little more attentive, but I will forgive poor service if it comes along side food this good. Definitely worth a trip to this little unassuming restaurant. read more

I liked this place way better with the old owner... I believe he retired about an year or couple of years ago. The food is rather bland. I don't mind Americanized Asian food but dishes at Noodle Alley are kind of bland. I much prefer the food at Cambodian Thai but there are two things that Noodle Alley definitely beats them with: 1. Service, 2. interior. Cambodian Thai has only 2 waitresses and one girl is really nice but the other one sounds/looks like she's always PMSing. On the other hand, every time I visited Noodle Alley, the waiters and waitresses have been very respectful. Also, Cambodian Thai isn't exactly somewhere I'd bring my parents to when they visit or bring a friend who's visiting but Noodle Alley, I can bring a friend there. Tucked away in a dreary shopping center, Noodle Alley is not the restaurant you would expect to find; it's better! I'm becoming more of a fan with each visit and each new menu item I try. Right now my favorite is the Mango Cashew Fried Rice, but I really enjoy their dumplings and Pad Thai. Unlike another popular Thai restaurant in the area, Noodle Alley is a full service restaurant, in addition to being a great place for take out. It is clean and cozy, perfect for date night or a family dinner. What I like the most about Noodle Alley is I know that I will be seated rather quickly, I won't have to wait a long time for my order, the food is great and the prices fit my student budget. I was willing to give Noodle Alley another chance after the last experience, but this is the last straw. I ordered the basil fried rice as a takeout order. This used to be a very nice fried rice with bell peppers, a meat of your choice and lots of basil. What I got tonight was just wrong. Someone thought it would be a good idea to randomly throw more vegetables into the fried rice. This in and of itself would not have been a bad thing, if those vegetables hadn't come from a frozen bag of mixed vegetables. Lima beans and corn do not belong in fried rice! Ever! The massive chunks of chicken were also dry and utterly flavorless. This is not the basil fried rice I fell in love with two years ago. Noodle Alley, you're dead to me. Cambodian Thai from now on. I've been to several Thai restaraunts in SB and this has em all beat. Nothing fancy about this place. Its got an open dining area with a cozy fire place. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. They may be almost too helpful because it seemed as though they asked how everything was about 10 times during our dining experience. Now onto the food. The curries arent too spicey and the food isnt too salty. I ordered the green curry with tofu and it was tasty. The Thai Iced Tea goes great with it.
