However the eyeglass side of the business managed by Tracy Charrette is the worst I have experienced - definitely the most unprofessional managment staff of a supposedly professional profession experience in my lifetime. Both my wife and I purchased eye glasses and after three return visits by me and four for my wife, the eyeglasses are not useable, both of us are using our previous prescription eyeglasses purchased prior to our move to Raleigh. She has no respect for our time or expectations for a usable pair of eyeglasses. Spent just south of $1,000 (plus insurance contribution) for two pair of glasses, for myself and my wife. The office declined to offer a refund after our 3 & 4 return visits. As an owner of a professional business myself I cannot imagine treating a client as such. Hindsight, I wish I would have read reviews of this office as I see many others have had similar experiences. He has a perfectly reasonable, logical explanation for whatever ails you, and he does whatever he can to explain it to you. He also uses technology that - prior to visiting his office - I hadn't seen in other optometrists' offices, like the camera that takes a big, clear photo of the inside of your eye to check for any horrifying abnormalities and to compare the overall state of their health year after year. The rest of the staff was really helpful. An employee that was awesome helped me pick frames and I personally didn't feel any pressure to buy, just helpful suggestions about the shape and color of the frames. There is a reason Carolina Family Vision was voted "Best Eye Doctor" in Holly Springs this year.

I had to wait a few weeks for glasses to be made, which is not unusual. I then went in and tried them on, these were $900 bifocals with all the bells and whistles, but the long-distance view was blurry. I immediately told this to the woman helping me, but she said take them home and get used to them and if they don't get better, bring them back. After a week, I went back and they gave me another exam, and the results were different from the first. After waiting another week or so, I went back again. the new glasses were fine. However, upon leaving, they handed me the old prescription and did not give me the accurate prescription. All was fine until I wanted to get a pair of prescription sunglasses from Costco. I gave them the script from Carolina Vision and waited a week. These sunglasses were for a vacation planned for the beginning of September to see Ireland. Well, when I tried the new sunglasses on , they were blurry. The optometrist at Costco tested my regular glasses and discovered the the script the I was given was the wrong script. so now i have to go on my vacation without the benefit of great sunglasses . Bottom line - Carilina Family vision looks pretty on the outside, the salespeople are professional, but behind the scenes it is a clown show .

You want me to pay for something THE PROVIDER wants to do. I Bet they do want to charge everyone $50 extra but it should be a choice not a you have to do this bc the provider wants extra money. I just requested my prescription and will order it online. So much for being able to build local relationships bc everyone is so money hungry it's not enough to see someone for what their insurance will cover. You now have to try to squeeze more out for a test that is NOT necessary for a routine eye exam. However, he never took the time to explain what his formal diagnosis was. I understand it is the holidays, but I am paying to be seen here and have for years. I should never feel like I'm begging for his time. Second, I told him I was concerned about not being about to wear contacts in my eyes because my glasses need a higher prescription. He replied "that's why we get our prescriptions filled isn't it" ---- being the "board renowned optometrist" he is and "college educated" you should know that insurance companies typically only cover contacts or glasses not both--his demeanor is off putting, tone death, lacks bedside manner and egotistical. I have a severe phobia about eye exams, especially the procedure to measure pressure. My last…read moreattempt at a different practice 20 years ago had been so stressful dealing with impatient staff that I stopped going. A recent problem with my eye made me look for help. I was able to get in within 2 days at North Raleigh Family Eyecare. I explained my phobia. Dr. Griffin and the other care providers were caring, patient, gentle, and gave me the space to work up to the scary parts of the exam. I returned twice more for continued care for the issue. I recently went in for a regular eye exam. Each visit has been wonderful. My fear has decreased to almost nothing thanks to their patience. I've now interacted with 6 or 7 other members of staff besides Dr. Griffin. All have been warm, helpful, patient, and professional. I absolutely love this practice and am so happy to have finally found a place that does not treat my fear as annoying and frustrating. (I've always relayed my issue when making appointments so staff would be aware of it. But other practices didn't exhibit the calm patience needed to lower my stress level.)
