Pioneer followed Covid19 protocols. All furniture was sanitized after being used. I witnessed this happen several times. The barista washed his hands before preparing my drinks and in between customers. Customers wore masks. I would describe pioneer as a third wave coffee establishment. Equipment. They use a Nuova Simonelli Mythos Commercial Espresso Grinder and a La Marzocco Linea Commercial Dual Boiler Italian Espresso Machine. I witnessed pour over coffees brewed in a Kalita Wave 185 dripper. They currently use excellent coffee from specialty coffee roaster Theory Coffee Roasters from Redding, CA. The single origin coffee pour over I ordered was excellent. It was clean with a great after taste. I also ordered a cortado. It too was excellent. Presentation. The pour over coffee was served with a Kalita Wave carafe and a Lino coffee mug on a white plate. Personally, I think Pioneer should swap out the white plate for a wooden tray. The Kalita carafe just didn't fit right in the tray and made too much noise when replacing it after pouring my coffee. I think a wooden tray of some sort would go better with the decor. Decor. I'd describe the decor as a barn/farm/rustic/lodge. Old farm equipment decorates the walls and spaces. Edison lights hand from the walls. Old window frames hang on one wall. I love how they broke up the space by creating separate comfortable sitting area. The Brown, rustic cushioned seats and brown cushioned sofa are super comfortable and the animal skin rug gives the space a lodge like feel. The bathroom was super clean and spacious. They have a traditional third wave coffee menu. They serve tea and some food and treats. There is a cooler with bottled soft drinks etc.

I love walking up Lock 29 to grab a drink to take along with me on my walks! Their parking lot is extremely difficult to deal with if there's some cars there, so I recommend parking down by all the shops & walking up! Easy access on the sidewalk, or you can cut off the trail like I do to get up there. It's worth the hassle!

A coffee shop that I can easily visit between hikes in a national park? Heck yes!…read more I stopped by the Peninsula Coffee House and Market during a weekend trip to Cuyahoga Valley National Park this year. I was lucky and snagged a parking space in front of the business; their parking is VERY limited and I'm surprised I didn't have to use a lot that was across a bridge. (Note that the bridge is right by the coffee shop, so it wouldn't have been a long trek at all.) I ordered a Butterscotch Latte and a Sausage, Biscuit & Egg breakfast sandwich; snagged a seat near the front of the store; and settled in for a relaxing break between my hikes. The coffee was excellent and the sandwich really hit the spot! While seating in the lower level is limited, I've learned reading other reviews that there is an outdoor patio and an upper level too. Their website mentions that they run a sundry market here too; however I didn't spend much time shopping in the interest of not stretching my wallet too far during my travels. I also didn't check out the wine cellar in the lower level. While this shop is little, it clearly has a lot to offer, and I am so glad I found it during my visit to Cuyahoga. I'd absolutely stop by again during future visits to the area...and I'd love to time my next visit so I can check out that wine cellar!

I visited on a weekday afternoon just before the high school up the street let out for the day. I ordered a hazelnut Irish crème latte cold from their March special menu that rivaled any drink from nationwide coffee shops. I didn't get to check the food menu much, but it looked extensive. And the hard served ice cream that a guest got while I was there looked amazing. I enjoyed my cold latte while doing some work. If you need a place to cool down or warm up with a coffee drink and get some work done then I think this place will serve you well. The ambience was comfortable, warm, friendly, and pleasant. I think there is a side room that could host a group. If you have kids they might enjoy the game table that lines the hallway by the bathrooms. On shelves in one of the corners and at the front of the shop where you order your food and drinks are brochures or other paraphernalia highlighting local businesses and services, community efforts, and monthly campaigns that will help you or someone you know find a resource or at least help promote service to others in your heart. I look forward to stopping in again soon.
