Finding a good salon is like dating. I've had to go through several mediocre experiences (or "bad…read moredates") to find the right place and the right stylist - but finally, I found my match. Salon 6 is just north of the main Broad Ripple village off of College Ave. My favorite thing about this salon (other than the haircuts I get) is the overall atmosphere. It has a small boutique vibe that is relaxed and unpretentious. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and offer you a drink of choice while you wait. The waiting area has a little bit of a New Age feel with some beautiful stones and crystals and local artisan jewelry. It immediately feels very relaxing. They have a few complementary add on services you can choose from, and I especially enjoy the Vitamin D lamp in the winter when I'm missing the sunshine. My stylist, Heidi, has given me some of the best haircuts I've ever had, hands down. When I booked my first appointment with her she took the time to talk about what I wanted and ask me questions. After allowing my hair to grow for a couple years and really doing nothing with it, I was looking for a "long shag" cut which I had asked for from other stylists at other salons that never seemed to turn out the way I envisioned it. Lucky for me, Heidi is spectacular at shag cuts and also specializes in razor cuts, which can be difficult to find. I told her I was ready for a change and to go for it and the results were even better than what I had in mind. Since then I've received multiple compliments on my cuts with an added comment "that's the kind of cut I've been wanting and I can't find someone to do it right!" My visits are always pleasant and relaxing. I never feel pressured to chat or make small talk, but when we do it's easy and laid back. I always leave with a fresh cut and style that makes me feel like I just treated myself to something luxurious without the feeling of a stuffy, ostentatious "luxury" salon where everyone leaves with basically the same haircut, color, extensions, etc. Salon 6 not only meets what I'm looking for in a salon experience, but Heidi takes it to the next level with her killer haircuts.

She doesn't weigh it down with heavy product and is able to get a curl to stick when styling! Not to mention she gives the best scalp massages, this is really why I get haircuts! ‍ Another thing I really appreciate is that they have a front desk person. They notify the stylist you've arrived so you don't have to wait long and they help with payments and appointment scheduling. I get text reminders when I have an appointment coming up. I've bought product here and been happy with it too. Probably most important and what you're interested in--the price feels reasonable. I can come and walk out with both a cut and a tip for around $50. This, aside from my relationship with my stylist, is one of the main reasons I've consistently returned. I was greeted by my stylist, Celisa, and shown where the bathroom was to wash my hands (this is definitely going to be the new norm). I sat down and we discussed what I want to do with my hair now (pre wedding) and what my future goals are (short, blue hair). I explained my frustration with massive hair loss lately. I appreciate that she didn't push me to buy Aveda products, but told me to research her product suggestion and gave me some tips that I could do (e.g, massage scalp, rise with cool water to close cuticles). We decided on not doing a full haircut because I want my hair long for my wedding and doing a much needed hair conditioning treatment. I totally recommend doing a treatment..nice little scalp massage and hot towel for 10 or so minutes (I was so relaxed I kind of snoozed). I loved my experience here at Bambu and I hope that Celisa will be my hairstylist forever (or at least till I move T.T). I can't wait to come back in 6 weeks! Odds and ends: Parking directly in the back or meter on the street. Masks are required and all staff are wearing them. They have hand sanitizer and sanitize the washing station immediately after each customer. They seem to space customers out, so we were not right next to each other. Celisa had another customer after me and I noticed she put her at another station since the chair I wasn't at wasn't sanitized yet. You guys are awesome!

The prices are very affordable and are comparable to other Salons but one thing I really like is that it's not crowded like a major salon. My stylist (Ali) does a great job and listens to what I want.
