My experience with the MD at the Vallejo location was abhorrent. I came in for raised lesions on my leg, she came in, sat on a chair across the room, I pulled up my pant leg and she said she could see that it was eczema from where she was. She did not touch or look closely at my leg. I felt it was a race thing seeing as I am African American. I'm giving 4 stars because the most frustrating part of this experience is that it takes FOREVER to get an appointment. 2.5 months? Really? The neighborhood is not the greatest, but I felt safe once I reached the parking lot. Once inside, I had a great experience. The facilities are clean, short wait time after I checked in, and Margaret was amazing - She was friendly, answered all my questions, and did what I came in for. I will now be making all my appointments with her. I just wish it did not take so long for an appointment. The other thing that was weird was the online check-in procedure felt like a psychological examination. Instead of just checking in, I was asked to answer questions like, " I strongly agree, I somewhat agree, l do not agree..." When it should have just been a checkmark. I didn't feel that the medical professional provided the best care they could of provided for me. It was a very rushed appointment. It started with a very long wait in the office waiting room. It also seemed to small for the number of people in the waiting room. I arrived early but in a timely manner. Watched everyone that was there before I got there go in and those that came after me be seen and leave before I was even seen. It was a early am appointment. My appointment seemed very rushed, I had questions that I didn't have time to ask. I had a medication called into a mail order pharmacy. That wouldn't be covered by my insurance, with no other option offered. I didn't feel that the professional taking care of me cared for me, felt like just a number passing thru got my copay and medication and sent on my way. The staff is excellent - the receptionists, Angela and Jennifer, are very efficient and friendly as is the assistant Alex - PA (physician assistant) Jennifer Ward conducted a very thorough and took the time to hear my concerns - she clearly explained the situation and what should be done - I have confidence in her opinion and advice / That is the positive side - the staff seems overworked - the negative side it takes to long (two months) to make an appointment as a new patient with an assistant doctor - and even more time (four months) to make a follow up with the doctor - this practice definitely needs another doctor and assistant doctor - then, of course, possibly more front and back staff / If they shorten the appointment times I will change the my review to 5 stars for sure ! read more

This review is for Dr. Mraz for tattoo removal. Do NOT get your tattoo removed by her at this office. Pro: She is a very nice doctor with a good bedside manner. Con: Dr. Mraz has no idea how to remove a tattoo or how to operate the equipment. I'll review in list form so it's easy to understand what I went through in just three sessions with her and how I had it done properly somewhere else. 1. She injected anesthetic fluid into my tattoo which is about 2"x3" after applying numbing cream. The injections were so painful and my whole upper arm went numb. We had to stop several times throughout the 30 or so injections so I could gather myself. I now know that this fluid prevents the laser from best breaking up the ink effectively and was not used in my session at the new place. 2. Dr. Mraz absolutely cooked my arm. She had the laser dialed up so high that I was left with awful blistering after each session and now have permanent raised scarring on my arm. This was immediately noted by my new laser person when he did my consultation. Dr. Mraz also went over my tattoo twice in the 2nd and 3rd sessions, waiting 30 minutes between passes so the laser could reset since it had overheated. I didn't know any better. By the second pass, the anesthesia had worn off and the pain was almost unbearable. 3. Dr. Mraz and the office did not instruct me to ice my arm after treatment. I now know this is crucial in preventing swelling and taming any blisters that may pop up. I was told by Solano Derm. to put aquaphor on it the whole time instead of waiting for the tattoo to dry up after a few days, so I was actually encouraging the blisters to stay moisturized after each session. 4. At the beginning of each session, she never even mentioned that the scarring may have been irregular and just kept blasting away. Here's how my 4th session at a new laser center went: 1. The nurse applied numbing cream and I sat for 30 minutes. 2. When he was ready to laser, he applied an ice pack directly to my skin to numb the area with cold. He also used a cooling wand that works in tandem with the YAG laser to keep the skin from overheating - and it feels good. 3. He used three different lasers on my one tattoo because they all had different ink values. The pain was noticeable but totally bearable since he kept the ice pack on it the whole time. It was a VASTLY improved experience from Solano Derm. 4. The session was done in 10 minutes as opposed to the hour+ I had to wait for numbing cream, getting injected, getting lasered, waiting 30 minutes for the laser to reset, then getting lasered again by Dr. Mraz. And the new place emphasized ICE, ICE, ICE after my session. I have zero blisters (it's been 2 days) and the only swelling is where my old scars are. Do your research, skip the injection numbing, and go somewhere that does it right. It was worth the drive for me to go into San Francisco and I'm actually looking forward to my next removals since they made me feel so comfortable during the process. read more
