From the start: wiring errors, repeated outages, and multiple service visits that never fixed the root problem. July: Water from a faulty conduit leaked into my electrical panel, causing a burning smell and clicking noises. Kentucky Utilities inspected, confirmed the danger, and shut off power to my home. Synergy restarted it -- but still missed the cause. Weeks later, Generac had me do a manual load test. It failed again with the same burning smell. Only then did Synergy send a different technician, who finally found the real issues: poorly stripped wiring, a broken seal from conduit torque, and water intrusion. After months of safety risks, outages, and stress, Synergy's "compensation" was only a 5-year service contract... meaning the same company that caused the unsafe installation expected me to trust them to maintain it. I followed up w the salesman and got a CB from Mann saying the were busy. they scheduled me for a month later. very nice crew came out and installed panels Said someone else would be out to do electrical. no more info from Mann. I called and left vm and Olivia explained there'd been a personnel issue and things had gotten reported out as complete and they weren't Supposedly I was one of those things. assured me they were on it. Electrical guys came out, again very nice but had no further info. I had basic questions such as how it is turned on, when will I know it is running. I waited. i VM Olivia again, no cb. I called a week later and she said the delay was coordinating inspection with Louisville metro. a week later she called to say inspection was Jan 2. after that someone would walk me through how I will know it is working etc. no more info since then. I have been waiting on Mann for Four months. They are terrible at communicating and follow up.

Backing up, we ended up using Solar Energy Solutions because metro government (Louisville) has a program called Solar Over Louisville, in which an independent board helped select a provider that would offer solid service, transparency, and reasonable pricing on hardware and installation. And that's pretty much what we got. The Solar Over Louisville program was given a green light for another year, and I believe they endorsed two providers (including SES) this time around. They gave us quotes for the cost and timeline and they also gave us estimates about the benefits we'd see, based on information about the pitch of our roof, our historical electric usage, and so forth. A year later, I can tell you that they were spot on with the savings estimate. They worked out all the communication with LG&E to set up the permits and the contracts and the net metering. No, we're not off the grid. They can do that sort of thing, but energy storage is still expensive, and that wasn't the point for us. The 30% federal rebate helped a lot too. We're not going to recoup our investment for quite a few years, but rest assured, that will happen. Your situation may be different. The whole process from estimates to actual panels took about three months. So if you want something on your roof before the hot months come along, plan accordingly. Either way, I highly recommend this company based on our experience.

We hit a farm drain tile which was not detected. I was responsible for fixing that but their guys were very helpful as well. One of the circuits had some non-standard wiring in my house and one outlet was not re-connected. Unfortunately that was the outlet for the sump pump. My basement flooded and the furnace and water heater were a complete loss. I don't want anyone to have a complicated experience like mine but Icon was very honorable though out the whole situation. I also had a problem with some water in one of the solar strings which they were also able to fix. The only outstanding item is to get the drywall put back together in the garage. I was happy to have Icon when things did not take the happy path.
