DO NOT HIRE JIM JANSEN / SOLAR POOLS YOU'VE BEEN WARNED I don't normally write reviews like this, but after months of being ignored and disrespected, it's time the public knows , especially those who recommended him as a friend, businessman and he does this , hmmmmm!!!!!!!! This is who your dealing with., very cowardly if you ask me...... In 2024, I hired Jim Jansen of Solar Pools to install a new inground liner. During that job, his team broke one of the pool lights, left it hanging in the water, wires exposed and floating like a jellyfish. Not only was it a safety hazard, but it was also a clear act of Ill just blame someone else and tell them Its not my fault , tell them ill fix it but never fix it. At first, Jim made every excuse imaginable, blamed the original installers, the equipment, the situation, everyone but himself. He even rigged the broken light back in place as a temporary "fix," clearly just to buy time. Eventually, after exhausting all his excuses, he admitted responsibility and agreed to repair it. I have every message, every confirmation, and every promise in writing. The light looks as if it actually ended up Seizing , after him and his crew continued to pull on wiring and whatever else they tried to do to "fix it temporarily " In April 2025, Jim responded when I asked him to schedule the repair. He told me to let him know when the pool was open. I did exactly that. Since then? Radio silence. No response to texts, no returned calls. Nothing. This isn't just poor service, t's negligence. It's the kind of behavior that raises serious legal and ethical concerns. Jim had every opportunity to resolve this the right way. Instead, he chose to vanish, hoping I'd go away. That was a mistake. Let this review be your warning: Jim Jansen is all smiles until something goes wrong. Then he disappears. If you're considering hiring Solar Pools, think twice. Solar Pool Service replaced our above ground pool liner when our old one tore. Jim came out and inspected our pool and did a very thorough job of explaining our options. He was very thoughtful about how to go about it with minimum summer downtime for our pool. He ordered the liner based on the size and specs of our pool. Many of the other pool services required us to order the liner ourselves. I was reluctant to do that because I don't know the first thing about liners and the companies that make them. I was thankful that a pro handled that. The new liner was installed while we were away on vacation. It was great to return to a freshly lined pool ready for swimming. Although I used this company for years recently communications were terrible. I had an automatic chlorinator installed and it never worked. I contacted the owner who personally looked at it and said everything was correct and blamed it on the fact that "auto chlorinators don't work well". Hired new pool company and didn't even mention the chlorinator. They told me that it was installed incorrectly three different ways. read more
