I have been going to the salon for almost 8 months for regular color, cut and products. I had an appointment for tomorrow and needed to reschedule. I was informed that I could not reschedule because of the 48 hour cancellation policy and would have to pay the cost of the service despite being unable to make the appointment. I have never encountered a salon where I was penalized for trying to reschedule an appointment. Unfortunately, the woman who does my hair was fantastic. She used multiple techniques for the cleansing, exfoliation, and moisturizing - so amazing! A few of my friends and I chipped in and bought a gift card to Aveda Solaris for our friend's birthday. I asked my friend how her experience was and she had nothing good to say. They stuck her in a small room to wait for her massage and never even offered her a glass of water. The massage therapist was rude to her when my friend kindly ask that she not be as rough when massaging her. The woman who gave her a pedicure acted grossed out by the stubbly hair on her legs. NEWSFLASH: Mammals have hair. When you go to a salon for a haircut, pedicure, massage, whatever...you should be treated like a queen. No matter how skinny, fat, smelly, beautiful, or hairy you might be. People go to places like this to relax and feel like a goddess and Aveda Solaris failed miserably. read more

I loved my experience at this salon! I moved to Evansville two ish years ago and haven't been able to find the right salon, but I'm definitely loyal to this one now. The atmosphere was very friendly , warm and upscale. I got my hair cut by Amy and I love what she did with my hair. She REALLY listened to what I wanted my hair to do and she absolutely delivered. She taught me how to style my hair and she had amazing insight on the products and helped me pick out what was best for my hair. She even massaged my hands while my deep conditioning treatment set. I only planned on getting a haircut, but I wound up getting a haircut, deep conditioning treatment and some product. I was getting worried that I was spending way too much, but I only spent like $80! In California, I had a favorite hairstylist who took really good care of my hair. So when it came time to find another good hairstylist, I was very nervous. I'm happy to say that Kiyla is a wonderful stylist, and I have never had trouble with her. I prefer full bangs on myself, and once I had that done with her, she cuts them complimentary whenever it gets too long. Every once in a while, I like to also take a few inches off of my hair to remove the split ends, which I am happy to pay for. Kiyla is one of many stylists at Solaris Aveda, so my advice is to find the one stylist who has the ability to do the hairstyle that you want vs just going with any stylist at this place. I couldn't imagine having another person cut my hair except for her now! read more

I like Aveda for some things and not for others. I've had my hair cut there twice, had brow shapes around 6 times and had a Brazilian done twice. I was happy with the brow shapes when they were done by one girl (I think her name is Stephanie) but others seemed sloppy. The Brazilian was one of the worst I've had done. I've now learned that if you want a good Brazilian you either need to go to a salon specializing in waxing or do it yourself with professional grade wax. The haircuts weren't bad, but they weren't fabulous either. I feel like this salon is much more about selling their products and making you feel pampered than they are about cutting hair and providing consistent service. However, it's still probably one of the better options in Evansville, so if you want to give it a shot, go ahead. read more

I'm writing this review based on my experience receiving a massage. I've never had any other services here. So my mom and I each got a massage by Jesse. Not only is Jesse an excellent massage therapist, but he's very personable. My mom was nervous about getting her first massage, but Jesse made her feel very at ease for the first time. I also felt he was great with the chit-chat. I always feel a little awkward when a man is going to be rubbing down my naked body and there isn't going to be any sort of grand finale. But hey, whatever. Overall, the massage room was one of the nicer ones I've ever been in- perfect decor, choice of music, and waterfall background. My massage was fantastic; I love it when a massage therapist is so good that you can't even distinguish that you're being rubbed down by someone's hands. Amazing. My reason for not giving this 5 stars: when I called to schedule the massages, I was hoping my mom and I could schedule them at the same time as it was part of her birthday gift. I called several weeks in advance, they were unable to accomodate even though I said the massages could be at any time of the day. The staff at the salon was very nice while I waited for my massage though, and led me to a more comfortable couch and gave me a bottle of water so I could easedrop on conversations in comfort, haha. Great experience. I'll be back here again for a massage from Jesse. read more

My daughter had an appointment to get her hair done for a dance. She only had it curled. Not washed or anything. Took them about 20 minutes. I was charged $60. The manager says this is the "correct price for service rendered". I have been to aveda spa/salons before. Yes they are pricey but this is absurd. She does more to her hair on a regular day before school than they did for her for $60. I will never go back. read more

I know, it may seem like I am exaggerating, but I always look forward to Krista taking care of me because I tell her general guidelines of what I want. Every time I always ask "Can any of your stylists do naturally curly hair?" And Aveda ASSURED me that this person knew what she was doing. Wow - that was certainly not the case. First, she brushed my hair out with a wire brush (first no-no of naturally curly hair) then washed it. She then started cutting it wet after I specifically told her that my hair shrinks more than most people when cut wet (as most curly haired people's do). Finally, she dryed it on high heat, scrunching it in her hands. I came in with pretty good hair and wanting a cool, new cut that wasn't just the basic layered look. I came out with my hair 5 inches shorter than I wanted and looking like I stuck my hand in a light socket. I couldn't hold the tears back even when I was walking out - I bawled the whole way home. They have poor business practices, seemed like a scam to me. Wish I could comment upon their salon services. I received a gift certificate from my boyfriend for Christmas and was trying to schedule an appointment. He had purchased a nice package of services and the appointment would be a 3 hour duration. The attendant on the phone then told me that since the appointment was for 3 hours I would need to give him a credit card number to hold the appointment. My credit card would not be billed unless I did not show up. If I did not give an 24 hr notice of cancellation then my credit card would be charged for the full amount of the services even though they have already been paid for prior to rendering them. I explained that I had a gift certificate and that the services were prepaid. The gift certificate was a credit card with a serial number, it would have been very easy for him to check and see if I actually had a gift certificate for the amount I told him. He said he understood that but it was their policy and he needed my credit card to hold the prepaid services I had scheduled. I said I would like to talk to the manager, he said he was the manager and that was the policy. I promptly cancelled the appointment and asked if my boyfriend could get a refund of the money they have not yet earned. No refunds-big surprise. Guess I will go by there and buy $160.00 of salon products. You may want to think twice before trying to do something nice for someone you like by getting them a sizable gift card from Solaris Aveda Salon. read more

I have gone to an Aveda Salon in Texas for many years and I expect a certain standard for Aveda Salons. I walked into this particular salon and found a number of white trash bags laying all over the ground. It appeared that the staff was restocking. I checked in and was offered a beverage and asked to take a seat while I waited for the person doing my pedicure. 25 minutes after my appointment time, I had not been given the water I asked for and was frustrated that I had had to wait so long for my appointment. The employee had to gather a number of things in order to do my pedicure and asked me to sit down and start soaking my feet. Problem: I hadn't picked out a color nail polish yet. So, I'm trying to pick out a color from across the room. I selected the spa pedicure, at $55,expecting a top end pedicure. What I received was barely a basic pedicure with a paraffin wax treatment added. The employee never went above my ankle despite the description stating an exfoliation and massage on legs and feet. The pedicure I received was not worth $55. I would not recommend this location for pedicures. read more

This review is not about the unattractive, mullet-like haircut I got from one of their "master stylists". Though I should say, I only wear my hair pulled back now. I wrote a complaint to the Better Business Bureau about this salon. The level of professionalism at this place was that low to warrant time set aside to write to BBB. Without copy-and-pasting my letter here onto Yelp, because it's too long, I am (still) outraged by the piss-poor business practice of their management team. If management acts as unprofessionally as they did, then I shudder to think the example they are setting for their employees as well as what they are actually telling their employees is "okay" to do. Brief, I asked for a refund after joining a promotional program because this particular salon did not uphold any of the promotions. The manager with whom I spoke not only refused my request but basically said that there is nothing I could do. Money lost to Solaris, for nothing! Then when I called the national headquarters about my request, he lied about me not paying my fees! Completely ridiculous: to lie to a customer and then lie about the customer. I honestly felt like I had returned to the late 19th century, before business practice standards were implemented and customers were taken advantage of left and right at the whim of businesses. This is the kind of "local" establishment that Evansville is supposed to support and be proud of? read more

Went there for a haircut and was not very pleased. Barely got my ends trimmed and had to pay $50. The staff was nice and I enjoyed the free neck massage but I do think that this salon cares way more about selling products than anything. read more
