I purchased my Enphase system with Solarmax Technologies in 2020 and it's been almost 3 years since I've had it. Initially, like most on here with their reviews regarding their gripes with project management, sales person, schedules, communication, it's most often true, because I experienced all of it and was greatly frustrated, although I had a really good sales person. Not perfect, but he answered my calls and helped address my concerns. I'm a detailed kind of person, and it makes it that much more difficult and frustrating when your sales person doesn't relay your notes to the Project Manager. Project Manger doesn't relay messages to the Scheduler. The on-site lead doesn't know anything with what's happening other than to show up on date, time, with crew to do xyz and doesn't relay messages back that you've communicated and if any comms go around, it's lost in translation somewhere. And they don't keep you updated, follow-up... So yes a communication cluster bleep. But I've learned from my friends and and those I've spoken with that used other vendors, read reviews from other vendors, and it appears to be, almost industry standard, which doesn't make it any better or okay. But one thing for sure, is when you do get a hold of someone at Solarmax, it will take effort, and lots of effort, and follow-ups, baby sitting, whatever word choice you'd like to use. At the end of the day, if you want it done right, you have to be on top of the issues and work with them, and constantly communicate. Their customer service is willing to work with you and they often more than not, will fix, or correct the issues as they really do strive for good customer satisfaction. My experience overall has been less than steller with their process, but I'm still giving them 4 stars because they listened and were willing to work out the issues that I had, everything from broken tiles, to location of the installation pipes, and at the end, my system works very well, their panels looks beautiful on my roof compared to other panels around my neighborhood, performs better than stated, and overall I'm very happy with my system. My HOA is happy, everything is clean and it's not an ugly solar install. Would I use them again? That's a difficult question, as I could always use someone else, and may experience other hair pulling and unsatisfactory expereince. I've had my fill and have become pretty distrustful regarding contractors. But yes, I would use them again because I've worked with them, I know what to expect and I know and trust they will help and work with me. But more so, it's due to their panels, they make it in Riverside, and are close to OC and San Diego ("local") and it's a great product and works great with Enphase. Like any construction/remodeling jobs, read the contract carefully, understand what you're agreeing to, don't make assumptions, and always get written confirmation and be precise, concise, about what you're asking for, and don't confuse your vendor by making to many changes. Lastly, review and communicate what you don't feel is right. Work it out. I hope this review helps others and would consider using them. I am planning to use them again for my parent's home if price and such is right but do your homework. I have been working with Chris Handzel over several years to try and get solar on my home. RPU rates are so low, that it was tough to make the switch. Today, I got solar installed. He was always friendly, and helpful every time I tried. Their service is impeccable. I needed a new electrical panel, and so they had to cut out my stucco to make room for the bigger panel. When they were done, they sent the stucco guy over. Mark McCorkell, from Pacific Applications arrived, and got to work. He proceeded to widen to opening, and clean up the opening, so that he could install all the backing paper and wire mesh to support the new stucco. I specifically asked him not to paint it, since I want to paint with the same color and brand of paint. His work is the best I have seems. You cannot even tell this is a patch job. I highly recommend. I did shop around, and they came in at the best price with superior products. I am the type of person that tries to keep working relationships even if a deal cannot be made. They came through for me this year, and I am happy I gave the opportunity to bid in the job again. I've been leery of Solar for many years with all these door-to-door salesman that have been harrasing us for years. We didn't think we needed solar since our bills never were over $100. Now you're gonna make an excuse of the trees when our house is taller than the trees, any trees that are around us are by the association and are being maintained about every other month when you came out to monitor my site, you told me I needed a new breaker so I bought one I needed a new roof so I got one if you would've told me that these trees that are lower than my house that are causing shade need to be cut down I would have done that but to make an excuse that there is a tree, causing shade is ridiculous Why don't you send somebody to monitor my unit and I like to prove that there is a shade on my unit. We've only had the unit 4 years and the inverter has broke 3 times. We have a guaranteed output in our contract, but of course, every year I have to reach out to them to let them know they owe us money. This last time we were owed close to $3,000, I finally received the check 3 months late it it's only $377. Update - 5/30 today still no resolution. We did get a phone call from Solar Max last week saying that they still manufacture our panels and that they had a meeting on the warranty issues with the manufacturer and we were to hear back on Tuesday...no phone call, no update as of Thursday. If they still manufacture the panel why is it taking 5 months to be replaced? Are you going to cover the cost of the electricity for the panel that is down? Very disappointed. We are in Riverside, CA . Once your system is installed you are on your own. Three panels went out a couple of years ago and they drug their feet on doing anything, I had to personally call the supplier of the panel to get him to replace it. Once again, a panel is out - No response to a panel needing to be replaced because it is not producing any power. I'm told my panels are no longer manufactured. This has been going on since January, we are now in May. They installed the panel they need to replace it. Extremely disappointed in their lack of customer service and warranty issues. You would think with all the bad reviews being posted they would clean up their act. Totally unacceptable!!! read more

The service technician left after he made some adjustments to the settings. The management is not willing to replace the charger even after showing the picture. I started my solar journey back in September of 2021. I would always have solar dudes knocking on my door and I just never wanted to stand there and listen to the pitch. Although solar has always intrigued me but the process and costs seemed so daunting. Once my Southern California Edison bills skyrocketed to $500-$700 a month during the summer, thanks to my wife for running the A/C night and day, I began asking a few friends and co-workers who had solar and what they thought about it and if it was even worth it. I called a few reps and scheduled an in-person meeting with a few companies based on recommendations I received. Long story short I went with Brandon Mezzanatto, a SolarMax Representative. He was extremely informative about the process, overall costs, financing, timeline and what to expect after the install. Once I gave Brandon the green light I was assigned a Project Manager who contacted me throughout the process. That's when I became an official member of the SolarMax family. The longest part of the process was securing the permits. That took about a month. After the permits were handled the process flew by. Day 1: Roofing Installation The SolarMax roofing crew arrived on 11/19/2021. I didn't have to be home as long as the crew had full access to the roof. The roofing installation took between 5-7 hours. They installed the stands and the racking system for the solar panels. Day 2: Electrical Installation The SolarMax electrical crew arrived on 11/22/2021. I did have to be available that day in order for the electricians to explain the scope of work. The electrical crew started installing the solar panels and ran the conduits. After they had finished installing the system they showed me how to turn the system on and off and also answered all my solar newbie questions. Day 3: Final Inspection Technician Between three to five days after the electrical installation, SolarMax sent an inspection technician to my home to meet the City Inspector.  After the city had signed off on the inspection and all required funding had been received, they sent all solar related information to SCE. SCE took around 2 weeks to grant "Permission To Operate."  Once my PTO was granted, the SolarMax Monitoring team turned on my system and educated me on how to track the performance of my system.  Brandon was a huge help with the Enphase iPhone App and how to understand what I was really looking at. A few months after everything was completed Brandon told me to contact him to go over my electrical bill to better understand what I was paying for and why. He was always available to talk if I had a question or issue. I went with Brandon and SolarMax because they are located in Riverside, been in business for 14 years and also based off a high recommendation from a co-worker. I knew I could count on Brandon if things went south. I did my homework and so should you. Looking back at the last 4 months solar was one the best decisions I have ever made as a homeowner. Since obtaining solar my SCE bills have been $11.99 a month and my cost to purchase my 33 panels are another $128 a month. BRING ON SUMMER!! I highly recommend calling SolarMax. It took over 2 years for our panels to finally go online. If it hadn't been for our hard-working sales-rep, Brian, I doubt if the project would ever have been finished. We had to pester them every stage of the project to get them to continue--lots of time and even hard copy letters before we could get a response. When it was finally "finished", our power company had a scheduled outage, and our solar panels failed to power our battery. Everything was wired incorrectly and it took SolarMax 2 trips and another licensed contractor 2 visits to get everything wired correctly and working. After all that, we discovered that our gas dryer had all its electronics fried due to the power surges from the failed wiring so we had to replace it. An expensive nightmare. On the bright side, the system seems to have been working for the last few weeks. read more

I got Solarmax's Enphase battery backup that my house runs on at night and then recharges my batteries during the day. If the grid goes down I still have my lights, tv, and refrigerators working for as long as the blackout lasts. The company is professional and dealt with any issues that came up and now my electric bill is coming down. Ask for their sales representative Iveth if you live in Murrieta area, she will explain everything and give you the system you need based on your past enegery usage. After having a kid and getting a pool and an EV or usage soared, so I called SolarMax to add some more panels. Dan Cooley made this the most turnkey experience possible. I went thru some of your reviews and seems that most of the ones that are not favorable is about lack of communication/s to customer. You, which I believe is a good leader should have taken notes of these and should have initiated an study what needs to be done in order to avoid them in the future. Update 5/2/23: After multiple visits (4), still no power generation. The inverter and a module on the roof was replaced on 4/12/23. The tech told me that everything should be working fine. It was cloudy so I waited a few days to check the generation. When I checked, I noticed that no energy had been generated at all. I called Solarmax and they explained that the tech's notes were that a panel was bad and needed to be replaced and they were looking for a panel so that they can schedule the repair. That was 2 weeks ago. Questions I have: why would the tech leave my home telling me that everything was fixed and then update the company that a panel was bad? Why do they not have panels on hand to make the repair? My energy bill is now close to $3500 for this year, and I'm really just looking to get the system working again. 2.5 months (and counting) for repair is a poor experience in my opinion. read more

I recently had my system installed by Solar Max 2 weeks ago. The process started in late January 2020. I was contacted by rep Pete Herrera since he was the one who signed up my neighbor. He explained everything in great detail. Did not feel pressured by him or the company at anytime. The process went very smoothly. The company sends constant updates of the progress through email and they also call you with updates throughout the process. The process took 2.5 months because of permits and I also had them install a new 200 amp panel. PTO from SCE only took 2 days to approve and my system is working great. I constantly monitor my progress on the SolarEdge app and am making great power. Any little issues I had were taken care of immediately by contacting my rep Pete.
