We noticed our Solatubes from street level appeared corroded. Horatio came out and confirmed that yes indeed they were. He provided an estimate for all 4 solatubes. Turns out, our general contractor years ago did a shoddy, inconsistent installation where in one case, surprisingly the top didn't fly off. As a temporary fix, we had it taped down. We scheduled the repair a few days later. Aour technician Trevor was friendly, professional and efficient. The work estimate was originally for 5 hours. He worked alone diligently and completed the job a few hours early. He was able to conduct all the labor on the roof plus was able to shave off some unnecessary cost. I used Solatube Home for my new tempered glass skylight and I am very pleased with the service and the results! I had an old acrylic skylight that was very dried out and was having condensation bead up on the metal rim every morning (due to inadequate sealing) and dripping water on to my floor, so I upgraded to the tempered glass from Solatube. The entire process was very quick and they were able to schedule my free estimate and subsequent service within about a week of my initial contact. I love that they manufacture their own product in the USA (in CA) and that the skylight comes with a 5 year service warranty and a 10 year parts warranty (I may have gotten that backwards - but there's a warranty, thats the important part!) For the speed, quality, and professionalism, I felt they provided a great value and I feel confident that they'll address any issues that may arise subsequent to the service (I am not expecting any, but things happen, so I am glad they stand by their work!). Installer Brent Garcia and his coworker took great care in covering up the floor under the open skylight and helping advise on how to protect the piano I have under the skylight. A very minor thing to expect, but it shows they care and those little things speak to their overall level of care and professionalism. Frankly, people's level of care in the trades is all but nonexistent, so when someone does show they care, I am always very pleased! Very happy we found Solatube. Soooo much better than a traditional skylight. We had Horacio come out twice for consultations due to a renovation and being indecisive on what we wanted. Horacio suggested two 14" Solatubes, but once the installer, Brian, came out, we saw that two 10" Solatubes would be best for our area. Quick and professional Brent and his assistant worked very quickly removing and installing the two new skylights. I was on my ladder and witness the process. So careful in putting the weather proofing seal down. This gave me the confidness they knew what they were doing. I was so impressed on how fast and how clean they left the area below. The product is performing well. My disappointment is in the installation. They call their installer's Certified yet the guy did not center the solatube in the ceiling!! I myself am in the trades and that is unacceptable. I'm not sure what to even do about it. Being how my ceiling was lathe and plaster the guy struggled with initial install. So, I had him stop and I went ahead and removed the lathe and plaster and replaced it with drywall. Taped, mudded, primed and painted. The entire process took me about 16 hours to complete... and then the guy installs it off center?! I can't believe that and if that's how they train their technicians that's just a darn shame. It's not just a little off center either. I'm going to contact the manager and see what they can do because as mentioned earlier, unacceptable. read more

Contacted solitude home services from a Facebook ad and requested an appointment received a call about an hour after my request and had an appointment for the following day. A inspector came out and looked at our home and garage and gave us ideas and options to choose. After deciding to go ahead with the work for both garage and home we received another call from their scheduling department about an hour after her inspector left and set up an appointment for the following day availability. This morning Trevor came out and was very professional and started installing the Attic portion of the fan and had to make a change in the location that we first thought would work within a short time the fan was installed and super clean installation no mess left behind went over the instructions on use and at that point we headed out to the garage and Trevor got right to work and completed the solar fan in about an hour which included two garage door vents and again he cleaned up all the debris from the installation and left it in better shape than when he got to it. Lance and Melanie were great in answering my concerns and offered me a fair estimate and scheduled an installers appointment promptly as I was concerned with the possibility of coming rain! So on the installation day Brent and Jordan showed up as promised and on time, actually a few minutes early! They took the time to go over the roof and skylights which were over 40 years old and to this date don't know how they were fastened or mounted since there were no screws or bolts holding the skylight in place. How ever it was mounted it was definitely permanent and on there as well! A mystery to me and the installers, but regardless with some skill and creative thinking, both Brent and Jordan came up with a solution to replace the skylights that worked for me and solved the problem! The final job was fine, my main concern was that it took 3 visits to get the job done correctly. There was poor communication between the salesperson and the first installer.. they brought a window that didn't open in the correct orientation. They had to come back with the correct sky light but they didn't bring any finish trim and had to come back a third time because it was a different installer who came the second time and didn't get the note.
