This was a lovely venue for a small private event! I was a guest at a wedding here, and was so surprised to see this space open up into a split level/loft style event space. They had a small bar and kitchen, tiny coat closet, and a few bathrooms on site. Parking sucked though. The space was quite tricky to find because there were no written signs, so look for the small shoe sign across the street from Neumos/Bok-a-bok. Their security guard was very sweet and helped to clue us in, but it would have taken us a few more walks up and down the street to find it. Lol. This would be a perfect small venue for people who enjoy speakeasies, and the space could easily be decorated in that theme. read more

Had my 40th birthday party here and I can't say enough good things. The space is beautiful and has a great rustic/romantic vibe on it's own so I didn't need to spend a ton on décor. The food was was better than I've had a most event spaces (my guests literally dived to get the grilled cheese when they came out and snuck desserts out in their purses) and the drinks are reasonably priced. But my favorite part was the staff! They were also so lovely and helpful and they are 100% the reason I'd do another event there. Planning a wedding during the pandemic was frustrating and stressful. After deciding to host a very small ceremony, then a larger reception for friends, my spouse and I were having difficulties finding a Halloween party / surprise wedding reception venue that was both unique and cost-effective. Danielle was instrumental in our decision to book Sole Repair. The costs were itemized and quoted up front, she helped navigate the best options for food and beverages, keeping bar costs under control, and creating the right ambiance. There were different layout options, and not having to coordinate with separate bar/catering and venue companies made it even more compelling. This is a really neat event space right next to Quinn's on Pike. I had never noticed it before until our company had a work event here. The lighting and decor is rustic and cute. I can imagine a small wedding reception here. The ambiance feels very much like Capitol Hill, hipster, and stylish. The food was pretty good although some of my coworkers didn't enjoy some of the bites as much. We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Sole Repair in August this year. We loved it from the second we looked at it, and the venue, food, staff and atmosphere did not disappoint on the day. We had 75 guests with a buffet dinner and there was plenty of space for dancing, seating and tables. The food was spectacular, we got so many amazing comments, the staff serving drinks were efficient and super pleasant. Although everything was amazing the shining star of Sole Repair is Katie. We planned our Seattle wedding from Boston and working with Katie was THE BEST experience it was like chatting to a friend, effortless, easy and so much fun. She answered all our emails promptly and thoroughly, she was there whenever we needed her, she helped us with decorations and co-ordinating vendors and with our one off requests. She is kind, friendly and approachable which is exactly want you need on your wedding day, she was always smiling and it was a great comfort knowing she had everything under control. I recently held my second event here in the last several years, and I will continue to go back! The space provides a very fun setting for a party, allowing people to mingle and dance below, with food and tables up top. The staff are so friendly and professional. The events manager, Danielle, is very responsive and came up with some great ideas for decorations and referrals for DJs, photo booths etc. I cannot say enough how the space and people made my party feel so special and everyone had a fabulous time! It really is perfect for small weddings, birthday or anniversary parties, or corporate events. The food is amazing too! read more

I've been to a few open-to-the-public events and private affairs, and I'm a big fan of Sole Repair. The catering is decent, the bartenders they bring in are good, the door people are solid, and the events that book them out are decent (no that they have THAT much to do with the choice, but I haven't ever seen a douchey crowd spilling out.) I don't have experience in pricing and organizing any events there, but Grace has been polite and friendly whenever she's dropped by to make sure things are going smoothly at the space. On a cold and rainy night, we found ourselves in First Hill...why, you may ask. Well, to go to Quinn's of course. I was dropped off to do recon and get us a table: there was a 45-min wait. Now I'm not trippin'. I know this Yelp IS NOT about Quinn's, but the Quinn's host said we can wait in "their" lounge: Sole Repair. Sounded good to me---better than waiting at the crowded bar inside Quinn's. The host said they'd come and get us when our table would be ready. I love Quinn's! So, we walked out the door and hooked around the corner and walked to a nondescript white door. This is where the Sole Repair Lounge was. I can't remember seeing if there was a sign outside (it was rainy and dark), but I liked the "speakeasy" feel to this place. You would have never known there was a cool lounge inside the rickety white door of Sole Repair. Inside is a clean, stylish, and chic bar/lounge. It was fairly chill and non-crowded after leaving the hub-bub of Quinn's. Downstairs is the bar and an open area with tables and very nice couches. Upstairs is a loft overlooking it all with more cool sofas and chill areas. We ordered a round of drinks. And there are two stories of note: 1) I had a Glenlivet neat. It was funny watching the bar keep. He poured my drink, and it looked like a normal pour. He then took a look at the bottle, and finished the bottle in my glass--dang! 2) While waiting for everyone else's drinks, the bartender cut an orange peel, lit it on fire, and then threw it into the glass, while making a drink. "What is that?" I asked. "Man! You didn't order this, huh? Well, this is your free drink", he replied. These two stories changed my 4-star to a 5. This was an awesome place and excellent place to while the time away before Quinn greatness. Now this lounge isn't open all the time. Apparently, it is rented out quite a bit for private functions. But, when it's available, you have to make a stop on by. The elusiveness of this lounge reminds me of the island on LOST as it hops around the ocean, or Platform 9-3/4 for the Hogwarts Express. We had an office party here yesterday and it was a lot of fun. There were some highs and lows but overall I left feeling happy. The space is actually pretty small so it did get a little crammed up with more than 100 of us there. They had some really good live music but unfortunately it was just too loud and none of us could hear ourselves speak. The event was catered by Quinn's next door(which I think is owned by the same people). The food was not bad. Small manageable bites made it easy to eat standing. The smoked ham, buns with mustard and pickled olives, the grilled cheese and the tempura squash were really good. The bacon popcorn was fantastic and we couldn't get enough of it. The sliders and the chicken apple sausage unfortunately were just meh and a little dry and bland. The wait staff and the bartenders were absolutely fantastic. They worked very hard, were extremely nice and polite to every one, made sure there was a steady flow of food and handled an over-crowded bar extremely well. Full points to the entire staff for a really great job. In case the owners read this, please convey our sincerest thanks to them for making it a memorable afternoon. Katie, the director of events, and her team were a dream to work with and more accommodating, understanding and attentive then I've seen in the service industry (especially the wedding industry!). My wife and I had our wedding celebration at Sole Repair in early July of this year that was both small and unconventional due to the pandemic. As with many couples getting married in the last year and half, our wedding planning process was a whirlwind of multiple cancellations and changed plans, and at times we felt overwhelmed. We eventually settled on two smaller events - one family-only wedding ceremony and a separate friends-only celebration. We held our friends-only event at Sole Repair and worked with Danielle to make it happen. Working with Danielle and her staff made the whole experience so much smoother and more amazing than it had any right to be. The planning process with Danielle was fantastic - she was so helpful, responsive and friendly, and extremely willing and excited to entertain our non-traditional plans for the event. She had a lot of great ideas of her own, kept us on track the day-of and went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed - she actually got into a bad car accident the morning of the wedding, and not only still showed up to the event, but absolutely crushed it! We felt truly cared for by Danielle and couldn't have made it through the ups and downs of planning our event without her. On the day of our wedding, her staff were kind, fun and beyond accommodating to all of our needs and requests. We can't recommend Danielle and the whole Sole Repair staff highly enough! As for Sole Repair itself, the space is beautiful and warm, and had the perfect layout and size for dinner and dancing with our friends. The food, fully catered by Quinn's Pub next door, was absolutely delicious, came in very generous portions, and was universally loved by our guests. My wife and I recently had our wedding at Sole Repair. We were relieved and excited when we met with Ashley for the first time and saw the space and learned that we would be able to have the whole event in their space. To be able to have the ceremony and reception, including a seated dinner, all in one space made our decision much easier, and knowing that their staff would handle every step in the process for us so that our friends and family wouldn't have to lug chairs up the stairs or move tables around was reason enough to have our wedding here. The situation was made even better when we learned that they would be able to do in-house catering, provided by the same kitchen as Quinn's Pub. We knew the food would be good, but the service and actual dinner were miles above and beyond anything that we had hoped or expected. Literally every single person that we invited came to us after dinner and gushed over how good the food was, often claiming that it was the best food that they had ever had at a wedding. The kitchen were incredibly accommodating of ours and our friends' dietary restrictions, providing specially-made meals for our vegan friends in attendance, and adding an additional item at the beginning of dinner service to make sure that our vegetarian friends would have not only enough food, but variety in the food that they did have. The staff was all incredible. They were attentive and helpful, kind, courteous, fun and full of joy. The bar staff were fast and efficient, dealing with our group quickly and with ease, and made fantastic drinks. Truly, our wedding couldn't have happened without them. More than anyone else, Ashley made our wedding possible. She was helpful and accommodating, making sure that we felt special and heard, not only listening to and making our requests happen, but also offering advice, helping us to better create a vision for our wedding that truly felt like it was ours. She made every part of the process simple and easy, eliminating stress or confusion at every turn. During the wedding itself, Ashley helped to orchestrate and guide the events of the evening. She made sure that music played when it was supposed to, that our emcee knew when to make announcements, and guaranteeing that we had a space prepared for us to sign our marriage certificate - complete with fresh glasses of bubbly. It wasn't enough for Ashley that she be helpful, though. She was also incredibly kind and thoughtful, making our relationship feel like that of close, long-time friends rather than a vendor-client relationship. She truly took our thoughts, feelings, and personalities into consideration. I can't possibly recommend working with Sole Repair, and Ashley in particular, highly enough. I've rated them five-stars, but I would rate them 50-stars if I could. I got to marry my best friend in an absolutely beautiful space surrounded by my friends and family, and it wouldn't have happened without Ashley. Joan and Paula do an amazing job at keeping everything under control, going above and beyond while remaining accommodating throughout the planning process up the the last minute of the event itself. We held our wedding here and could not have picked a better space. We were able to fit all 60 people comfortably upstairs for a delicious catered meal from Quinn's next door. The salmon and short ribs came out better than expected, and we hold high expectations...! As far as decorating goes, this place has a lot of charm and only took a couple flowers/candles and a couple couches from vintage ambiance to make it suitable for our special day. Overall this place is very versatile for any event and i can not recommend it enough! I can envision coming back here to celebrate in the near future. read more

Need a great space to host 50-150 of your closest friends? Maybe you have a birthday party, a reception, a fashion show, or just because, this is a really great space to invite your friends out for the party you need. It is located straight across from Neumo's, so a great location. It is only open for private events. I went here a week ago for a friend's "wedding" -- not REALLY a wedding, more of a show, but it was the best, most entertaining "wedding" I'VE ever been to. The space, Sole Repair, helped a LOT with that. There's a main floor, a stagey area, a bar, clean bathrooms, and an open loft above that overlooks the main floor, with comfy couches toward the back, perfect for lounging. I had a fun conversation with the security guard, who used to work in a hard-core metal club, but has learned a thing or two about how to diffuse situations for the benefit of everyone's good time -- VERY friendly, yet no-nonsense, and with the sake of us patrons in mind -- the ideal combination for security, as I see it. The proprietor mentioned that she makes her money off of the bar. So the bigger party of people who drink, the better for her. From what I understand, her flat fee is reasonable, keeping it low in favor of bar sales (where she makes her profit), but that's just hearsay. Is hearsay allowed? This was a serious, not-so-serious PARTY. I was having a great time, and so therefore everyone ELSE was having a great time, too, right? Well at least it seemed that way, and I didn't see anything bad -- everyone looked tipsily smiley and huggy through my eyes. The bar has all the basics you might want, not huge, but I think they can make just about anything with the stash they have. But the bartenders were not equal when it came to pouring drinks. One bartender poured generously, which I always appreciate, especially after I tip well and they remember that. The other one did not, which annoyed me because despite my high tips, he forgot -- and his drinks were rather weak. $7 gin and tonics on the smallish side, are reasonably priced, but only if they are reasonably strong (and good) -- I'll take quality over quantity any day. Or in this case, both! Ha! But fear not, I found my favorite bartender, bought all my drinks for me and my friends through him for the rest of the nite, and I'm sure he made at least $20-$30 in tips from me. I hope he got to keep his own tips, because he deserved them -- he was great! Other than that, I'm a fan of this space, and am already starting to think about events I might be able to throw here in the future. read more

The space was exactly what we were looking for. The garage door gave us the outdoor feel without having to make a rain plan. We loved the separation between our ceremony downstairs and our dinner upstairs in the loft. Feed Co was highly complimented by our guests. My wife and I are vegetarian and we found the flavors and freshness to be exactly on par with what we expected. A few other guests had dietary restrictions and these were handled with ease. The kids in particular loved the passed appetizers. Our communication with Joan and Paula was prompt, which put us at ease. We had lists and lists of questions for them of which were all answered quickly and with the creativity of design in mind. We were invited to events and tastings before our wedding so our framework of finished details was fresh in our minds. This is a great mixed use space and we loved it for our wedding. I don't have enough amazing things to saw about this venue and its staff. My husband and I recently had our wedding at Sole Repair and Joan was our main contact. She was prompt, thoughtful and listened to all our requests. She always had answers and quick problem solving skills that left us totally at ease. Working in the industry myself, I know how easy it is for details to get lost, but I never had a worry with Joan. She is such a professional and knows her job so well. The food was catered by Feed Co. and heard nothing but rave reviews from our guests. We opted for a family style meal with the salmon and the beef short ribs - both killer. We had about 65 guests and needed at least two options. No one seemed to be left hungry. Portions aren't HUGE, so unless you have heavy eaters, you might want to look into having another entree or another salad to start. We opted to not have a DJ at our wedding and create our own Spotify playlists, which was perfect for cocktail hour and dinner, but we found the speakers weren't QUITE loud enough for a full on dance party - so if you're after that type of atmosphere, I would recommend getting a DJ or at least renting louder speakers for that portion of your event. The only vision we really had was soft, romantic and intimate and they nailed every detail from the candles to setting up our donut display on our rented furniture. The two places couldn't be more different from each other but Quinn's is such a success that I was sure Sole Repair would be a solid spot to go to. Most recently I was there to attend a little DJ/dance party event. I heard about it via word of mouth and just sort of ended up there. The drinks are good, the service was good, and (girls - this is important - the bathrooms were clean!) If you're planning to host a party or event, Sole Repair is a great spot! It's spacious, modern, and has just an overall nice vibe about it. I've never had a bad time there in all my visits. Come to think of it ... I absolutely LOVE this venue!! I worked with Paula and Joan to plan a HS reunion at Sole Repair and it was beyond everything I was looking for and more for a reasonable price! The food was absolutely delicious and the venue itself was beautiful. I did not have to bring anything to help decorate because it already looked gorgeous and classy inside with the type of lighting and decor they already had in place. Everyone at the reunion enjoyed themselves and everyone loved the food choices and drinks! It made it easier that this placed catered as well because then I didn't have to deal with hiring other people. (Get the tempura seasonal vegetables and salt cod fritters!! Soooo good!) It was really nice that they had a sound system too because it saved us a lot of money by not hiring a DJ and just playing a premade playlist from Spotify. However if you do prefer a DJ, they offer that too!This venue is great for just about any private party you can think of and the space is great because it has an upstairs lounge as well. Paula and Joan were very hospitable and it made it easy to work with them! When it came to budgeting and contracts, Paula did an outstanding job itemizing everything for me. There was never any confusion on the charges and her straight forward approach made it easy for me to select this venue for our reunion. I hosted a 25th Birthday party for my boyfriend at The Sole Repair Shop last weekend. The space is beautiful: perfect for large or small groups (mine was about 40ish). The large loft is great for lounging on deep couches which can be maneuvered to your liking. It felt like a little piece of MTV right on Capitol Hill. When I arrived, votive candles were glowing around the space and white linens covered the tables. Large dance floor with plenty of ledge/table space for drinks. A coat closet was very helpful for storing bundle-gear. I showed up a bit early to frost cupcakes and set-up. A great cup-cake tower was made available to me, which worked perfectly! The staff was very attentive and helpful in assiting me with set-up, especially concerning my lap-top slideshow, to which I was completely computer-illiterate. We used an ipod playlist for a soundtrack. Apparently my ipod did not provide loud enough sound recordings, so be sure to test yours out, our music was a bit too timid for the dance party I was hoping for. I was given the option of using the 2 flat screens for my slideshow, which would have been lovely had I been able to make it happen! However, you could put anything on the screens, old Black and White films were on hand and added a neat ambience. Perhaps I could have brought favorite movies, surfing/snowboarding films or cartoons? Or of course, David Bowie Sci-Fi movies. Drinks were pricey and because the staff is so diligent about keeping the tables and ledges clear, be sure to hold onto yours. Post-party, I had some concerns I wanted to discuss, Grace the event-director was VERY eager to hear about my concerns and seemed very interested in remedying any issues. She is very proud of her business and she has every reason. Helpful staff is very nice to have when throwing a party off-site, I felt like I could enjoy my party and not worry about a thing, Amy (on-site-in-charge) thought of every detail before I had to and made sure all of the timing was perfect! I am sad my party is over, I would love to throw another party here, it is a nice little secret on Capitol Hill, and was definately worth the $$$. read more

I love the space. It's beautiful and clean, and the rental fee is way cheap. I rented Sole Repair for my wedding reception, and had a frustrating time getting emails returned and drink menus figured out with the resident caterer/bar manager. Besides the communication issues, however, the setup was easy, the drinks and food were exceptional, the doorman was nice and funny, and the space was lovely and comfortable. Parking is normally available at the lot to the south, but this weekend another wedding had somehow rented that entire lot. I'm not sure how, or who to contact to find that out, but watch out for that eventuality, and have a back up plan. I saw another reviewer mention the free wifi though and lol'd - it's from the coffee shop down the street. Great wireless signal, but I'm just sayin'. read more

Dark wood floors, leather loungers downstairs & upstairs, a flat screen tv mounted on the wall downstairs served to display a slide show of the guest of honor, clean & spacious single stall restrooms and a coat room. Oh yes, and your very own bouncer!! Heck yeah. The hostess had a DJ stationed upstairs(dancers downstairs) and a Kinect setup!! Yeeeeahh.. I definitely failed at the Kinect dancing =( I blame the bartender for serving up tasty concoctions all night!! In addition to the great beverage service, yummy appetizers of fries, sliders and other goodies were served. The only downfall is parking - very limited but that's expected of Capitol Hill. A few months back, I helped my best friend with the booking and planning of her wedding reception at Sole Repair. Since I had already gone through this process a year prior with my own wedding, I was happy to use my experienced expertise to help out with hers. Upon contacting the venue, we received great communication from the beginning to end. Grace, who is responsible for everything that happens there, is an expert planner and wonderful person, too. She was very attentive to our needs and personalized details-like the hand chosen furniture, beautiful decorations, photo booth, and balloon drop!! Yep, we had one. I wanted to do something extra special for my bff, so I secretly worked this out with Grace. It was pretty difficult to time the way we imagined, but it ended up being so amazing and so much fun!! I know that it was a huge highlight and very memorable special surprise for the guests- especially the bride and groom. I can't thank Grace enough for her help in pulling that off! The architecture, the sound, the food, the bar, basically everything was spot on. The space has a wonderful atmosphere and was the perfect size, big enough for our 65 guests but small enough for an intimate ceremony and reception. From start to finish, Katie and the entire Sole Repair staff were quick to respond to our questions, assuage our worries, and make our vision for the wedding a reality. What an amazing space for a Wedding or Party! It's located right across from Moe's & Pacific Fish Fry on Capitol Hill. There aren't any signs out front which makes it extra private for your party and they even have a door man to keep out the riff-raff. Parking is a bit tough on Capitol Hill so I would recommend parking in the lot which is on the same side of the street and just South of the venue. I was there this past weekend and was impressed with the bar-staff's quality of service and the excellent selection of beverages. The space has an interesting layout with plenty of room for dancing and an open loft above with couches and a view of the dance floor and bar. Highly recommendable! read more

We held our wedding ceremony and reception at Sole in October 2017. We started looking at wedding venues beginning in 2015, and fell in love with Sole at first sight. The venue has a hip, laid back, speak-easy vibe. One of the biggest perks for us is that they provide all of the tables, plates, silverware, catering, bar, and staffing. There was no need for us to worry about renting a bunch of stuff, hiring staff or volunteers, or getting the various necessary licenses and insurance. It was a one-stop shop, which was an added bonus. The food is excellent. If you've ever been to Quinn's next door (run by the same company), then you'll know the chef is great. We had selected a buffet when we first booked that they had discontinued before our event, but they were willing and able to keep what we had chosen originally. The staff are great. Paula and her team are professional, prompt, and always ready to assist. Even when small hiccups occurred during the course of the event, she was on top of it, working with our coordinator to make sure everything was resolved and ran smoothly. We had 75 attendees with seating for the meal for all of them, and there was still plenty of room for mingling and dancing without any worries. read more

When I reached out through their website to inquire about availability, they responded the same day. Within a few days we had a price estimate and a menu put together which catered to a variety of dietary needs. They helped us pull off a flawless event and relieved a lot of the stress for us. I was quoted (in an email ) one price, but when the contract came in a few weeks later, the price was roughly double. What's annoying about this is that I actually called and spoke to someone who told me the fee we were quoted would include a bartender. The contract showed otherwise. Not a good way to conduct business, and disappointing 34 students (who are your potential customers) is not good for your reputation. read more

I recently rented out The Sole Repair shop for my wedding and honestly, these guys were awesome. Seriously awesome. The food was outstanding, the space was great. I cant really say more than that - you need to see this place, talk to Grace and rent it for your gathering! right now! I read some of the negative reviews, thinking "How could anyone give them a bad review?!" I will agree that parking is up in Capitol Hill, so it is limited - but that's cap hill! So unless you're from a suburb you should be used to this. Suck it up. About the two bathrooms: really? you all have a problem with two single stall bathrooms? how often do you pee!? it wasn't even an issue for us (a 60 people party) About the expense: our whole wedding was under $6000 in SEATTLE and it was AWESOME - SOLE REPAIR IS NOT EXPENSIVE About Grace (the coordinator) and Stacy (The Catering Directer): These two are awesome. I get the feeling that the people complaining on this site experienced similar responses and attitudes that I did, and I would say they (Grace and Stacy) were great. I'm kind of a control freak so I understand where some of this negativity comes from, so I'd really like to tell everyone who has issue with Grace, and Stacy to get over themselves. They do their job and they do it WELL! read more
