I started my Sole Repair experience when I was looking for places to book my wedding- not only was it very affordable and beautiful- the two amazing owners, Paula and Joan, blew us away with their kindness, attentiveness and willingness to accommodate to our needs that others might consider difficult- a Jewish ceremony! Vegan everything! :/ When I started to plan an event for sexual assault survivors, I was nervous about finding a venue. All proceeds from the benefit are going to New Beginnings, a local non-profit. I didn't really have a lot of money to put towards renting a venue, but thought that I might be able to afford the low priced rental rate of Sole Repair- so I gave them a call. I think only a few hours passed before I heard back, with Paula offering the whole space and six hours of time for free!!! She even offered to meet with me several times in the past two weeks just to iron out details of food and beverages. The event isn't until next Monday, but both Paula and Joan have checked in with me multiple times just to follow up and make sure everything's running smoothly. Had our wedding here and loved the space. We rented a photobooth which enhanced our guests experience. Management, however, is very unorganized and not helpful. We ended up having several additional charges we weren't prepared for at the end of the night. I would not recommend for a big day but if someone else is paying it's a great place to party. read more

Sole Repair was exactly what we were looking for in a wedding reception venue. We started the day with the ceremony, a taco cart, and yard games at Volunteer Park, but needed a venue where we could provide booze and keep the party rocking past midnight. We hosted about 100 people at Sole Repair for drinks, dessert, toasts, dancing, and games, and the space was perfect. It's clean and open, with a great little loft that allowed us to divide the space up a little bit, with a dance floor (and limited seating) downstairs and board game tables upstairs. The staff was wonderful to work with. I met with Paula and Joan when we booked the space, almost a year and a half before our event, and while there appeared to be some management changes between then and the day of, it was easy and straightforward all the way through. All of our questions were answered quickly and clearly, and they were super generous and helpful. We added a few things to our order in the month before the wedding, and I was able to stop by and get input to make sure my floor plan made sense before I sent it to my day-of coordinator. They allowed us to bring in our own desserts and snacks (as long as we didn't need serving staff), and let us use their serving utensils to dish up the cake. Because we'd already served dinner, we only ordered drinks through their bar. We planned to cover drinks up to the minimum, and then have guests pay for their own, which we were going to coordinate with a token system that they offered to help manage. However, we ended up not needing it- our final drink bill fell about $30 short of the minimum! Overall, our experience with them was AMAZING, and if I ever plan another large-scale event, I will definitely look to Sole Repair. read more

My husband and I had the most gorgeous, intentional and intimate wedding ceremony! It truly was the most fun day ever, and our 30-40 of our closest friends tend to agree. The Sole Repair Shop was my number one choice when it came to selecting a venue as I instantly fell in love with its charm; strung Edison bulb lighting, the rustic concrete floor, the loft with a large perfectly frosted glass window and clean white walls, not to mention the wooden thatch focal wall. Yummy! It was everything we wanted and more. We had an open bar with the most gregarious and kind bartenders, seriously, our guests loved our bartender so much that everyone was on a first name basis by the end of the night. Quinn's catered our event by serving pretzels and mustard during cocktail hour and an assortment of sliders and fries for dinner-- and it was all seriously delicious! The space felt absolutely flawless in size for our group. It was cozy enough to hear without microphones but spacious enough that we felt far from boxed in and limited in movement. Lastly, working with Ashley (the venue event coordinator) in the months prior to the event was total bliss. She was accessible, approachable, reassuring, communicative and a joy to work with! Perfect size and atmosphere for private parties. It's way cleaner and more appealing than the average night club.

My friends held their wedding and reception there and I was pretty impressed with the venue. It's got two floors with a cash bar on the first floor. It's versatile where you can set up chairs (for the ceremony) and then the chairs were moved out of the way for a nice big dancing area. There's also a coat check service and two big bathrooms. Kid friendly until 9pm. Definitely a place to consider for holding your next party/event. read more

I had my 30th birthday here a while back (like a whiiiiiiile back), and was just reminded of how excellent it was while trying to plan a friends upcoming birthday party. I live in NYC now, and cannot find anything close to a space like Sole Repair. Especially for the price, service and space. I realize that New York is quite a bit more expensive and has small spaces, but to even rent a private room in a bar with no personalized service (or even cocktail service) leaves me dreaming of a Sole Repair party. While I lived in Seattle, I recommended many friends and clients to Sole Repair for anything from a birthday party, wedding, or a big sit down catered dinner. I was recently back for a visit and had the pleasure of joining friends at Sole Repair for a dance party and it brought back such great memories. I ran into Grace, and she remembered my name and that I had moved away. We chatted a bit and it turns out that she has expanded her business and has another space downtown as well! Not a surprise, as this woman works her heart out to keep the party going and to make sure everyone is having a good time. I am sure that her additional space is going to be just as cool. As for the service and attention to detail, Grace kills it. If she is not available, she has her assistant reach out to help cover any last minute changes that come up. She has an amazing list of caterers and her bar staff is super. They actually know how to make good drinks! And they are helpful and they actually smile when working. (that says a lot, as most bars on Capitol Hill have pretty bad service) I do not know what on earth reviewer "Linda L." is talking about. I cannot imagine that Grace would be misleading about anything. EVERYTHING is on paper, down to the smallest little detail. I am sure that Linda must not have read the details. I bet the guests had a good time at the wedding! The only times that I did not receive a call back were when I did not leave a message! I have a hard time believing that calls were not returned. Anyway, all that I really wanted to get across to anyone that reads my review is this: -Sole Repair is a great place for any event. (I have even seen daytime baby showers!) -Grace is a wonderful person to work with -The space is super cool! (Decorate however you want!) -There are so many options for cool additions (DJ, food, photo booth) -They even have a doorman to keep unwanted guests out! -Bartenders are nice and make really great drinks, they will even a make custom drink list for your party with drink specials. You can even name those drinks!! -Price is excellent, especially for midweek events. -I miss Sole Repair. -I wish Sole Repair would open in NYC. read more

I booked sole repair for a birthday party that included multiple friends birthdays. Not only is the space super cool style wise but for what you get and the cost it is way worth booking with them. Pretty much everything was set up for us and they even provided us a variety of cool signature drinks. The staff and owner Grace took such great care of all our guests and most especially those who were celebrating their birthdays. Successfully and happily had our low-key wedding and party here in mid-October for about 60 guests. Was a good size crowd for the space, though we could have easily held more. From the beginning Paula (and the crew) were very easy to work with. The Feed Co catered food was great (mostly passed around hors d'oeuvres). A big plus for us was being able to bring in our own wines (but a sort of pricey corkage fee at $20/bottle). The ambiance fit our relaxed style well. What a cool space. I would have never noticed this place if it wasn't for Decibel Festival this year and I'm glad they were throwing shows here because this really is a perfect little venue for DJs. The drinks were good, the service was good, and the large wall made it perfect for throwing large visuals on. Great place to throw a party! I rented this venue out for my sisters surprise birthday party and it turned out to be a perfect place for us! Since it's connected to Quinn's we were able to pull of the surprise by telling my sister we were taking her to dinner and then Amy, our party planner for the night, told her her table wasn't quite ready and proceeded to lead her into the "private bar" for a drink where we were all waiting to surprise her. It was perfect. Pros: Food was phenomenal! Especially the chocolate cupcakes with salted caramel frosting - HUGE hit! Space was perfect and I was able to decorate to my liking Loved that they made a drink special menu at the bar with names/drinks I came up with that were funny inside jokes to my sister. Bar (we opted for cash bar) was perfect and the bar tender was friendly and awesome! She even shared a dance or two with us after she had clocked out for the night. Staff is friendly and professional, got the hours derv es (sp) passed around, drinks flowing and kept the party rolling. Great space for a med sized party and DJ with dance space. Cons: Capitol Hill parking - there is a lot on 10th (same street side as venue) but it's $10 to park so be aware of that We actually had the party on the one sunny day this year and it was HOT inside - even with the upstairs AC blowing it was sweltering. Like some other reviews - I did find it frustrating my emails weren't promptly replied to and felt like I was badgering Grace all the time to get a question or two answered BUT that said, the staff there the night of the party - Amy, Stacy, Jessica and bouncer (sorry didn't catch his name) were AWESOME! It was a little on the pricey side when you started to add everything up but it was all well worth it and we had a party I'm sure my sister isn't going to soon forget. read more

We were married here this past week with 64 guests. I cannot say enough positive things about Sole Repair Shop to do them justice. Katie (Director of Events) and her team are incredible. Being married here was a dream. The venue is affordable and beautiful, Katie and her staff are so accommodating and responsive, the food is excellent, the sound system is great, and they offer so many small touches to make it your own (sofas, decor, projector, etc). They make it so easy, and they are so helpful, that planning a wedding here was not stressful. We had a lot of questions and they answered them all with patience and kindness. The day of, they went above and beyond (and beyond) to help set up and keep everything running smoothly. We had a welcoming cocktail hour for our out of town wedding guests, and the event was amazing! We had about 90 guests attend, and we could have comfortably had another 50-60 people. The space is very intimate, and the food and drink services were superb. It was such a pleasure working with Katie to book the venue and catering. She is extremely helpful and made the whole process super easy. She and the bartenders at Quinn's Pub helped us design a signature cocktail, which was so much fun. The food and drink were delicious. We had our wedding at Sole Repair last week and it was everything we imagined for a perfect wedding and more. The venue was a perfect size for our intimate party of 50 people for both our ceremony and reception. Paula and Barbara were so fun and positive to work with leading up to the wedding and everything at was perfectly set up and beautiful when we arrived. The staff treated my husband and I like VIPs that day of the party by making sure we always had drinks, food, and everything else that we needed. Dinner was legitimately delicious and many steps above the average catered wedding meal with vibrant salads and seasonal ingredients. Having a family style meal on the second floor also contributed to the wonderful, intimate feel of our event. To top it off, nothing beats having such a fun bar right on the dance floor to kick off an awesome party that is so easy to continue onto the heart of Capitol Hill. Paula and Barbara took care of setting up seats for the ceremony and transitioning the furniture for the reception. The food was WONDERFUL! We've gotten compliments from all of our guests on the food. The slider bar was a hit! This was an awesome space for a private party. It's versatile and has two stories and clean bathroom facilities. The only thing to keep in mind is there is only one bar. It's up to you how many bartenders you think you can fit in there and how much you might need. It can be a little limiting if its going to be a busy party but we had a great time! read more

The food (a taco bar) was absolutely outstanding and the drinks and bar service were better than we could have imagined. As far as an event space goes, this place was pretty cool. It's right across from Neumos and the relocated Pacific Fish and Chips sign (which you may remember from the good old days across from Franklin). It's got a nice open vibe, loft overlooking the door, and no nonsense bar. It's got charm, and living in Seattle, this was a great place to be for New Years Eve. It's close to all the bars, not too uppity, and I can see myself throwing an event here. It's up on the hill, so if you have to park on the street you may find challenges. It should be noted however, that on NYE I found parking 1/2 block away on the hill. I don't think this would be ideal for a wedding, but for an after-reception with cocktails and apps it would work out great. It's got pre-wired setup for your DJ's to plug and play, and if you wanted to get on to 2 flat screens with whatever, I bet it would be pretty easy. In short, I'd love to throw a party here... I hear that it's reasonable priced. read more

I've been to many events here and last year held a work event at this location. I've always loved the venue space and working with them for our event was great! They took care of every last detail and made sure the event was a success (and let us enjoy the evening and not worry about anything). I was surprised how affordable they were especially considering the quality and variety of food they provided and the high level of service from everyone who supported the event.
