The beers are nice - though it might be limited if you don't like seltzers or lagers, which make up a portion of the selection. Been regulars and mug club members since they first opened, 10 years ago. Used to be you would be greeted by name. The bartenders were friendly, knew your mug number and what beer you drank. Now you go and the staff loves to chat amongst themselves, even about some of the customers. The food is just ok. It's time we move on to somewhere that we feel comfortable again. There are plenty of other breweries. As much as this makes us sad it's time we spent our time and money elsewhere. We will however miss our bartender Ethan who always makes us feel at home. Really cool brewery in an old mill with a covered beer garden area outside. Everyone was very nice and they have plenty of options, mostly focusing on IPAs. I really liked the Wendy Peffercorn which was their white IPA. They had a sour offering called Outside The Box which was a sheared sour or something to that effect - I'm pretty okay with drinking an entire tasting even if it's not really my thing but this one was so bad tasting I literally couldn't finish it, and I love sour beer and beers in general. I wouldn't recommend that one if you're there but everything else was really tasty. They also have some food options, we got truffle Parmesan fries which were pretty good and Buffalo chicken egg rolls which were pretty good too. Wouldn't come for a full meal but they have great offerings there so you can have a bite with your beer. Can't wait to come back! read more

Food took 50 min to arrive with no prior notice. When it did arrive it was lackluster. Fries were soggy, burgers were overdone (why did they even bother asking for temperature), and BLT had so little bacon. Portions were tiny for the price. read more

Visit family and my Grandmas house is to small for everyone and it was a beautiful day so thought we would all go out and meet. Service was good. I'm from the Wes coast and there are hundreds of breweries either food carts so I have plenty high standards. I got this pumpkin bear because I was told it's a New England classic and I like pumpkin beer.. It was flat and didn't even remotely have a pumpkin or spice taste. I wasn't drinking it fast enough I guess because when I went to the bathroom my family had them take it and give me a different beer. It was less bitter but also terrible. My daughter's root beer also sucked and was flat. The one food cart had barely any choice. The pretzels were decent. I had the chicken pesto sandwich. Just bland and mediocre. read more

As my (future) FIL's favorite brewery, we frequent this spot every time we're in town for a visit without fail. It used to be a tight fit but with the new expansion, there is so much space to spread out and enjoy! I think there's been a change in pet policy (only service animals allowed indoors), which didn't impact us per se but noting as an FYI for other dog owners. There is a huge outdoor tented patio set up, though, so you should be good either way. I'd love to see more light beer options personally, but that's just me. Good rotation of beers for those who love IPAs. read more

Great local brewery. We go to trivia as often as possible on Thursdays at 7. It's a great time! They not only allow dogs but welcome them. The staff always brings my little Bichon water and let's him sit in his own chair! They just added hard seltzers to the menu -- hands down best seltzers I've ever had. They have enough flavor without being syrupy sweet, and they put fresh fruit in the glasses. So good! read more

A lot has changed since I first visited here. Mike's mom told me then that this was the best brewery in Massachusetts. This place has gone from a family brewery where literally everyone here was friends and family and the occasional new friend to a large bustling brewpub destination. With the ups and downs of Westmass you wouldn't expect that they'd be quite the destination they are now. Long ago it was a trip down a shitty road to get here to a small brewery. Now you have a large taproom with sweeping views of the river and the bustle of a busy place. Yet one thing stayed the same. Even though it is literally 100x the size they once were it is still a place where friends and family...new and old...meet to celebrate hard work. A wonderful brewery with delicious food! We like to stop here on our way back from Salem, Ma. The beer is always delicious and recently they added food. My husband loves the baby maker porter and I had a delicious sour. We were exhausted and hungry from traveling and Matt and his crew were welcoming and friendly! They also have a dog friendly patio. My husband had a burger that was delicious and I went for the BLT. I got the sweet potato fries and yum yum yum. read more

Fun atmosphere. We were able to make a reservation online for a patio table .... it was a beautiful day. Wait staff was so friendly. A man at the hostess stand who I think may have been an owner was fantastic - very friendly and even came around to check on guests which I always have a lot of respect for. I tried the Raspberry Key Lime Cruiser beer and the Alternate Facts 5 which is a cherry based sour. Both were delicious. Hubby had the Positivity 8 (which he didn't love the mango notes), and he also had the Generosity (bourbon aged barrel lager) which he loved- had two glasses he loved it so much (too bad it doesn't come in cans). Always a huge fan of breweries converted from old mills this is no exception - gorgeous place. They have a food truck on premises (MA law you have to order food with your first round).... we went to town. Tried the egg rolls (mac and cheese chorizo (loved the sauce but not the chorizo flavor on that one) and jalapeño cheddar bacon (SPICY but yum!))). We also had the chicken and sirloin skewers (YUM), and the mini pumpkin pie! Very happy and we will definitely be back! Great spot to check out! read more

5 of us met here while there was a band playing. The band was good, but it was way too loud, so we had trouble listening to each other. I had 3 different beers and liked none of them. My pals weren't thrilled with their beers either. The 2 beer pourers behind the bar were pleasant. The parking lot is relatively small and very dark - it didn't seem very safe. We ended leaving after 90 minutes or so and going to a dive bar in Ludlow. read more

We loved the beer and the easygoing, friendly atmosphere. The staff was great, the locals were extremely friendly and we were left wondering why on earth their landlord decided they were more trouble than they were worth when the entire town loves them, they are located in an area where no one lives so noise isn't an issue. We had just read about them winning a lawsuit against said landlord and wanted to support their business and were well rewarded. I can't say enough great things about Iron Duke! It's located in a really cool industrial park. I've noticed that a lot of people say they had a hard time finding it, but there are signs directing you the whole way! We got there around 12:15 on a Sunday, and even though they had only opened at noon the place was already hoppin! We found two seats in the corner of the bar, but we were noticed and greeted by the friendly bartenders (maybe the owners?) almost immediately. They were the kind of guys who genuinely seemed to be enjoying their job, and they were very passionate about the product they were serving. We opted for 2 flights at a reasonable $8 each, and every single sip tasted better than the last. I'm no beer connoisseur, but I do know the difference between good and bad beer, and all of this was delicious, refreshing, and smooth. My boyfriend, who is a more avid beer drinker, loved all of his as well. My personal favorite was the Wendy Peffercorn (clever name). We loved it so much that we ordered pints and started planning our next visit here. It clean, open, unique, and a great place to chill, socialize, and sip a cold one. 2014 - my vote for best new brewery tasting room. There is a lot of passion went into this brewery. First and foremost, the beer is quite good. Some styles still need a little tweaking, but they are more than on their way. The tasting room is fantastic. A wall with large open "windows" to the brewery remind you as to why you are there. Rustic re-purposed barn boards. Old piping to make back bar shelving. They even used a rail line for the bar foot rest. Quite the transformation. Well done~! No waiting in line for growler fills here. They have a growler swap program. Come back with your old growler and pick up a fresh growler located in the fridge just to the right when you walk in. So glad to have this little gem of a brewery in my backyard. They did a wonderful job on the tasting room. In its previous life it was a rope making mill. They transformed the old stockhouse into a really comfortable experience. The beers are good, and will only get better. I recommend the hopy Stockhouse 122. Thank God for GPS. After a series of "really? there's a brewery in here?"s and "are you sure we were supposed to turn left?"s, we reached our destination. Iron Duke is hidden at the rear of an awesome and still rough-around-the-edges old riverside mill complex in Ludlow. It's not far off the Mass Pike-- specifically, the part that's a no-man's-land between Worcester and Springfield when you see exit signs and say "Palmer? Ware? Ludlow? These are places in Massachusetts?" The old-school mill charm and delicious brews make this a surprisingly hip spot for such a small town and worth the detour off the pike. As we were in for a quick sip, we were only able to try a few beers between the three of us. They were tasty, though. Favorites were the Common, a bright, aromatic ale that wasn't too hoppy, and the Wildcard, a black lager with a chocolate finish. On weekends and Fridays, weather permitting, there is a food truck parked outside-- order at the truck, and they'll bring in the food when it's ready. It's standard diner fare like fries and burgers and decadent grilled cheeses and cole slaw, but unpretentious food seems just right for an old mill space like this. I'll probably have visions of those crinkle-cut fries for months to come. Additional pluses: cheap! Beers were $4 to $5. The same amount in Boston will get you a PBR. And friendly bartenders and localfolk surrounded us. It was great to see this place packed on an early Friday evening. With what seemed like such a well-established audience, it's hard to believe it's still so new! read more
