My wife and I went to White Lion for a midafternoon lunch. When we walked in we were not acknowledged. The bartender and waitress were talking to each other, we had to ask if we should seat ourselves. There were only a small handful of people in the restaurant at the time. We were seated for at least five minutes before the bartender came over with food menus and a drink menu which he literally tossed on our table and walked away. Didn't off us water or anything. So few things to know about this place. First. There is no table service so all the reviews "no one came to my table" if you read the 20 signs that said no table service you would have see your entitlement doesn't matter. Second. It gets busy but if you are patient and not a jerk they take great care of you. Third. Food. Absolutely amazing. Been three times on my trip to the area. Steak sandwich, burger (shown) and sticky ribs. I will say the sticky ribs are messy but delicious. If you sit at the bar you can see the brewery through the glass. Not sure how the review"they don't wear gloves" because you can't see the kitchen. Probably the same one that didn't read the no table service sign. Best burger I've had in a really long time. I got the one with burnt ends on it and it was massive. The serving sizes here are fantastic and everything tasted great. The chicken tenders were also a huge portion and super good. The only downside was our server, Rick. He really needs a change of attitude. I get it, he was literally the only person working the entire restaurant on a busy Sunday night, so I understand the stress. But still, he was really rude, and it definitely made people upset. As my friend and I sat down to look at a menu, we noticed we could see the cook preparing the burger buns without any gloves. It was bad enough she had no hair net on or uniform, but to not have on gloves handling food in mass production that would be served to the public is definitely a no go for me! This was not my first time going there, my second time. The first time I was not sitting in an area where I could see the cook. I did eat ribs and wings that evening and I ordered a drink from the bar. I am hoping and praying the cook that night was much more sanitary. The place was clean today. We asked if they use gloves when cooking and the waitress saw the cook without gloves handling the food. The waitress said, yes she uses gloves. My friend asked, when because she is not using them now. The cook apparently heard our discussion and then pulled out black gloves from underneath the counter. Please do better White Lion! read more

Very cool place. I parked in the Tower Square parking garage and took the elevator to the bottom floor where White Lion is located. Tower Square is actually quite nice and very clean. I was impressed. White Lion is a large space with a massive bar and good sized seating area. They have garage type doors that open to the outside with some nice city views. Beer was fresh and delicious. Food was solid, especially the chicken wings that were juicy and cooked perfectly. Recommend!! read more

The process is broken here. Order at the bar- food delivered to you. BUT you cannot get the bartender to look at you. I stood patiently for way to long. and it wasn't that busy. I couldn't even imagine if it was slammed... The facility has on street parking downtown- tough feat even for a Sunday night in the summer. The facility is spacious even has a little stage built. The stage this day had empty boxes placed for kids to stack and play- AMAZING idea1 Our 2 year old spent the whole time playing with the boxes (thank you WL!) It can be loud but fun. I had the highbrow sticky ribs. Falling off the bone, finger licking DELICIOUSNESS! I love teriyaki/Asian flavors. This was extremely flavorful and downright memorable to be honest. We also had buffalo wings and truffle fries. These were just not memorable. They were ok. The kids loved the fried oreos. True score: 3.5 because the ribs were so good read more

I visited the White Lion Brewing Company on a short visit to Springfield. The beer list was pretty limited, I just got a flight with their 3 sours they offered and they were pretty decently flavored. The food was good for bar food and they have a pretty wide menu for food. I ordered the hot chicken sandwhich meal which had a good kick to it but nothing spectacular. The sandwhich came with fries and they were tasty and crispy. If you're looking for a laid back spot, this is a good option for a bite. read more

It is a brewery, but the drink menu is very limited. Enough that I had trouble overing a drink because they didn't even carry 3 tiers of liquor. I ordered the burnt ends, but it was mostly fat w/ a small rim of meat that was very hard & doused in BBQ sauce. I don't like that much sauce, but at least it least tasty, and wasn't super sweet. I would not over that again. My friend ordered the light lofe fish & said that it was meh. We all tasted the fries & they were not great. There was nothing truffle about them.. they were dry rosemary shoestring fries & they weren't that good. Rhe waiter actually gave hwr Parmigiano to put on them to give them some flavor. The fish was overcooked & flavorless & unseasonably. it was not even good in her opinion. The staff was very nice, but ill equipped. It wasnt even very bust, but they stulill seemed frazzled. First time trying their smash burger patty melt and I can't tell you how satisfying it was! Served on delicious rye bread with Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, beer mustard and a side of fries...definitely worth trying! The perfect lunch when you're hungry. Came during lunchtime, which apparently was great because I felt like we had the place to ourselves knowing that Friday night and all the way till Sunday this place is packed. Enjoy the beer was very good. Had an IPA. It was called the Marcus Camby delicious also had a sandwich and chicken wings. I know that normally I have a picture associated with the food but I've noticed a trend when I'm drinking beer I eat the food and then I forget to take my picture so we're gonna be working on that. Saturday evening. 6pm. Went to get beers and food. There was a line of about 10 people to order, went fairly quick. They had a limited menu which was fine. Ordered chicken tenders and fries and a burger. After 45 min, an overworked server/bar manager delivered 3 tiny chicken fingers fried in old dark oil with a side of unsalted tortilla chips. Burger was 100% a premade commercial frozen shaped burger with some broken ends of onion rings. I asked why and she said "we are out of fries, running low on most foods and you get what you get". No apologies, no free drink, no ketchup, no mayo... just suck it up or leave. Was it busy, yes. Did they make it a place id return to... no. read more

Okay, anything overseen by High Brow will be good - the wings, hot chicken sandwich - were great. But here's the problem, it's a pub in a downtown area, staffed by two bartenders who aren't shy about stating that they don't wait on tables. That's a huge miss on their part. It took 15 minutes just to close our tab and they had the gall to ask for a suggested 22% tip! Surrounded by options with actual service, they shot themselves in the foot here. Beware. read more

White Lion is an amazing brewery. The beer is marvelous. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is as cool as it gets, and they have awesome, fun events on a regular basis. It's a Black owned business, which to me is a distinct plus, LGBTQ welcoming, and the vibe? Chill. Love it. The staff is helpful and friendly. And you can see how the beer is brewed. The steel tanks are behind glass, right there in the dining/bar area. It's really interesting, and it's great to know that this high quality brew is being made right here, in Springfield MA. Parking isn't a problem. There are parking garages, and on street spaces (meters) so don't worry about that. It closes relatively early, in comparison to some of the other bars in the area, but that's really ok, because there's no trouble here, none. It's a safe, clean, good vibe environment. Walking around in between volleyball games we found this place. Went into what we thought was a little mall. Nothing open at the time and not much really going on. We saw this brewery and decided we would come back when it opened. I had a flight of beers, I love sours and they had 5 to choose from, so perfect way to try 4 of them. I had the fight the sour, carnival candy kettle sour, pomegranate and raspberry Bellini sour and the blueberry marshmallow sour. I originally thought my favorite on first sip was the blueberry marshmallow. You can really taste the blueberry and the marshmallow gives it kind of a balanced touch of cream taste. But once it sat for awhile it didn't taste as fruity. The fight the sour and the Bellini sours ended up being my favorite. We ordered a couple of appetizers, the roasted Brussel sprouts and buffalo tenders. The brussel sprouts were cooked to perfection. Cooked through so the center wasn't hard but yet roasted to crispy perfection on the outside. They were tossed with a hot honey, which I think was spicier than the buffalo wings. The sprout were served with a lemon vinaigrette that honestly just tasted like and I very blended olive oil mixed with clarified butter. No real lemon flavor and really not needed. Don't really get how it complimented the Brussel sprouts. They minus the dipping sauce were the best I have ever had and would order over and over again. The chicken tenders were amazing. Fresh chicken breast that you could tell they cut themselves and are breaded to order. The breading was so nice and crispy, the chicken was so juicy. Amazing!!! There is no table service so you will have to go to the bar and order everything. They use a QR code for you to scan for the menu. But once you order the food is brought to you when ready. Service was fast and friendly. I am looking forward to the next time I need to go to Springfield because this place will definitely be on my agenda for the day. read more

First I got the catfish nuggets but they were so greasy, broke apart with fork and their Cajun remoulade sauce NOT EVEN THAT & the sticky ribs OH NO-no flavor from the ribs, sauce was just not existent and overall a badly bland meal! The only decent things I will say is water was decent and restroom was clean but however IDK BECAUSE THIS WAS NOT WORTH IT!!!! I was in Springfield for a conference this weekend, and every time I go to Springfield, I am shocked at what a ghost town it is. Restaurants are often closed on the weekends, and there are only a handful of places where you can go for dinner on a Saturday night. It has the oddest downtown scene that I have ever seen in my travels. That being said, I am always pleasantly surprised when I find a gem like White Lion in this sleepy city. It's oddly placed inside a dying mall, which is weird, so when you sit by one of the side windows, you look directly into an empty mall. But inside, the food is tasty and the beer is good. I like the set-up too, where you order everything at the bar, beer and food, and they bring it to your table. It makes it easy to pay separately in big groups. I had the Pilsner which was delicious and tried the nachos, which weren't the most incredible nachos I've ever had, but probably a Springfield 9 or 10. read more
