They will ask you all kinds of questions during your "stay". I specifically told them, because they are always around in their kitchen and living room, I was leaving my dog in my room while I went on a hike. They said they wanted to get him out and that it was OK for him to run around. Well, he is a small, delicate and rambunctious chihuahua that can easily, accidentally get hurt and I told them I wanted him left in my room. When I came back from my hike I discovered the owners had gone into my room as the door between the bathroom and room was left open (I had left with it closed) and the rugs were shifted. And my dog was not in the quarantined space I had created for him to be in while I was out of the room. How do I know what happened to him? The owners treat this inn as their home because that's what it is and apparently they will do whatever they want. At real hotels you can hang a Do Not Disturb sign on the door and not worry. If this place had signs to hang they would say We Will Enter Your Room Without Permission Even When You Ask Us Not To Because This Is Our Personal Home. According to New Hampshire law they should be making it clear that they live there prior to making a reservation so this needs to be reported. In response to Sheila- your comments to your negative reviews give insight into your character. If you truly do care about customer satisfaction you would make it clear on your website that you are renting out rooms in a home. That would ensure the comfort of all of your guests.

You enter at the front and the tickets are sold in the gift shop immediately on your right. The lady selling the tickets was friendly and chatted with us. She said there was a tour starting at 11 a.m. Another guy wandered in who turned out to be the guide. After a little confusion, he led us through the building to a sunlit room towards the back. Here they had some chairs set up facing a TV. He first discussed a bit of general Shaker background with us and then started the ~ 10-minute video about them. It was interesting. The video ended at about the same time that another group of 3 German tourists was escorted back by the ticket lady. Our guide seemed a bit torn, and asked if we wanted to see the video again. We deferred, figuring that we could wander around outside for a few minutes (it was still only around 10:40 a.m.) before the tour. He then started the video for the new group. We walked around some of the buildings and took a few photos now that the morning fog had burned off. We then went back in and asked the ticket lady about the tour, as it was then around 10:50 a.m. She said that it may have already started, so we walked back to the video room. The guide was indeed discussing a topo map of the site with the Germans. We joined in and the tour then began. This was interesting; he discussed how the building was laid out (mostly to allow separation of the male and female Shakers). He showed us the basement workshops / storage areas as well as the common dining room. An older couple passed us at one point early in the tour and headed inside. A couple of minutes later, the ticket lady led the couple back to the tour group. They had intended to join the 11 a.m. tour (at 11 a.m.) and were somewhat irate that they had missed part of it. The staff tried to be helpful and offered them a refund, but in the end they settled down and just joined the tour. I sympathized with the couple in this case - if you state that you have an 11 a.m. tour, it seems like you should at least designate where to meet (presumably at 11 a.m.). The tour here just seemed to coalesce at some time in the neighborhood of 11 a.m. We continued touring the ground floor and then made our way upstairs to the 2nd floor, where there was an even larger central room for worship services. The way the builders included cabinets in almost every part of the interior walls, and how they arranged shutters for the windows, was quite interesting. Note that one of the 'simple gifts' that the builders were not able to include here was an elevator. Hence, if you have mobility issues, climbing the stairs between floors may be something you should factor in to your planning. The tour then headed next door to a church that the subsequent owners (a Catholic organization) had built. The interior was interesting with plenty of stained glass. Our guide wrapped up the tour with quick stops at a couple of mostly gutted outbuildings. It was about 12:10 p.m. at that point. I thought this was an interesting site. You should just allow some flexibility on tour timings.

We work side by side, generally quietly, but have been getting to know each other over the past few months and I'm so energized by the creativity + intelligence in our community! We're a small but mighty group and would LOVE for you to come join us. When we were there six years ago, it was Covid times so we had to be separated two different tables, but we still had fun. The bartender was fun. He actually turned us on to a root beer drink that we have made on many trips since. During our trip yesterday, the hostess wasn't very friendly as person on earth. The hostess was not there when we got there so we waited a few minutes and then thought we needed to venture into the restaurant a little further to find someone. She then greeted us by telling us we should've stayed at the hostess table to be sat. She then continue to make slight comments such as when you're ready I can actually see you and things such like that I don't normally write reviews where I have to add that some of the staff members were rude, but I do wanna note that. Our waitress , I believe her name was Rae, was fantastic. She was absolutely hilarious super friendly. And worked with all of our allergies make sure she noted it on all of our food orders. The food was delicious . The nachos were amazing. Two of my friends ordered drinks . The beer flight was cute. They came in little mason jar glasses with handles. There are cabins scattered across the property and the main reception was held under a tent in the large field. This is a great property for events, family reunions, a weekend get-a-way, friend or business retreat etc... It features cabins of all shapes and sizes, some lakeside, some mountainside, all tucked into the trees with views of rolling hills and countryside. The proprietors, Jay and Amy, are warm, amenable and kind. The cabins are cozy and well-appointed for couples and families, with fireplaces, day beds and fridges for leftovers. Don't expect luxury; this is rustic living! Part B&B, LLL offers cabins with inclusive breakfasts, ranging from standard continental to omelettes and pancakes (don't miss these... I think they're the best pancakes I've ever had). Activity options abound: soccer (there's an entire field), badminton, tetherball, basketball, two tennis courts, and a lovely grass volleyball court. In case that isn't enough, there's also an "activity cabin" with board games, toys, books, foozball, and TV for kids' movies (see photos). Post Pond, the lodge's central feature, is a glorious place to swim - the water is warm and lovely, as ponds are meant to be. There are rowboats, kayaks, canoes and paddleboards for guests who want to paddle, as well as a fleet of bicycles. If you're into cycling or running, take a meander down N Thetford Rd half a mile from the lodge to River Rd, which takes you all the way to the winding Connecticut River. Birds, butterflies, and peacefulness abound. (Pro tip: take your first right from N Thetford onto Breck Hill Rd for the most idyllic country scene you've ever seen.) LLL's head chef, Janet, cooks up amazing, healthy fare like kale Caesar salad, pesto linguini, grilled chicken, burgers, corn on the cob, steak, jambalaya, zucchini fries, and other fresh cuisine. There's always a kids menu with hot dogs and mac n' cheese, and you can order lunch - and ice cream cones! - through the side kitchen window to dine lakeside. Twice a week there are delicious summer buffets - on Wednesdays and Sundays, LLL is hopping with BBQ, music, juggling, swing sets, see-saws and watermelon. They are also open for dinner on weeknights in their dining room, which is classy without pretention (think tablecloths and napkins, but in a cozy, homey setting). If you ask nicely, they'll set up the most glorious outdoor table under the spreading oak trees with a view of the lake, and you'll think you're in heaven. (Warm rolls and salted butter come gratis.) Amazingly, everyone who stays here manages to become friends, and it starts to feel like home. If you come during summer, prepare for the occasional thunderstorm with raincoat and umbrella... or, better yet, just live in your swimsuit! Sunblock essential, water bottle and flashlight helpful. Cell service is spotty and no WiFi in the cabins, but that feels like a blessing. If you need to plug in, grab a couch in the main lodge or barn. Whether solo or traveling with family, LLL is an amazing place to vacation, have dinner with the kids, or relax for a weekend. This place is a godsend. The theatre itself is beautiful, the seating is comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is a little bit of a walk, but if you allow yourself time before the show, you should be fine. Our stay was lovely except for the second night, we left the sign for housekeeping on the morning to clean our room and change the towels. Lo and behold we got in late around 10 pm and the bed was undone, which is fine with me BUT the towels were still on the floor!!! They don't have any staff in house at night. When I checked in late the previous night the girl I spoke to said she'll leave the room key and instructions on how to find my room on top of the front desk since she's gone by 8:30-9 pm. Anyways I followed the instructions to call this number at night if we need anything, guess what?!?! the phone was ringing at the front desk. I called multiple times from my room phone and courtesy phone next to the front desk and same result-the phone was ringing right next to me!!! We were very frustrated, I even wrote "need fresh towels" on a piece of paper and held it in front of the camera at the front desk hoping someone will see it. No such luck, I also messaged thru Expedia that night to no avail. I ended up using toilet paper to dry myself after I showered! I was very frustrated. The next day the owner's son apologized to my husband stating he thought the sign was for "do not disturb" and told us he's working on the problem because the phone calls at night wasn't getting transferred to his cell phone. I know for a fact that calls were not being transferred even the night we checked in late, an elderly guy thought I work there and needed help with something. I told him to call the same number and same thing happened, the front desk phone kept ringing. In a positive note, breakfast served in the mornings were good. When we checked out, the owner also apologized for the snafu that happened.

I love that the main meeting room is on the second floor (this feels unique) and I love that Lyme takes such pride in the building and maintains the white clapboard exterior to perfection. As a wedding venue...it's creaky, hot in the sumer, and you're standing in front of a stage (like the all-purpose room in your middle school that was auditorium and cafeteria)....but it's so durned charming from every other angle that it's forgivable. The rich wood interior glows in the afternoon sunlight and the pew-like structures that you're seated in aren't as 18th century skinny as some of the other similar venues in New England. This is a BYO-officiant location.
