We stopped in here yesterday for a beer. It's a super fun, smaller place that is downstairs, and up against the river. The window was open so we were able to hear the water going by which was nice and relaxing. We had the woodshack's rest golden stout, which was very tasty. Highly recommend stopping in here for a beer if you're looking for somewhere local, and casual. read more

What a delightful place to relax after a busy and active day!! Down a set of stairs to a quaint lower level reminiscent of a family bar room. Everyone was in their best mood, perhaps a dozen people inside and one absolutely awesome labradoodle. The home brew selections are magnificent. The P. Bay IPA and the Bristol Blonde were exquisite. Truly so. The icing on the cake was when the proprietor brought us a hot, right off the oven, soft pretzel plate. Which went so well with the brews! The place has a Juliet window overlooking the river where the sound of the river lent a beautiful addition to the faire. Great beers, wonderful staff, amazing ambience and friendly people. What else can one ask for? We will be back. read more

Nice beer, space, and service by the owner. A solid brewery to drop by. Nothing standout, to be honest, but very decent.

I stopped by here a couple of Friday nights ago with my wife for some afternoon drinks. We arrived to Shackets Brewing at 4 PM just as it was opening for the day and so we were initially the only people there. The inside of Shackets consists of a couple of bars and then some tables. They have some brewing equipment in plain view and, an oven that you can see as well and finally a white board food menu. While we were there the owner was prepping a few trays of their thick cut bacon which smelled and looked pretty amazing but I resisted in getting some. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight here. At Shackett's Brewing that consisted of four beers of my choosing and so I went with the Newfound Nutbrown, Pasquaney Bay IPA, Everlees Irish Red and West Shore Stout. The first beer that I tried was the Newfound Nutbrown which had a nice and smooth mouthfeel with a caramelly flavored finish. Second was the Pasquaney Bay IPA which was a smooth IPA at the start that ends up finishing with a nice flavor and then a ton of hops at the finish. Up third was the West Shore Stout which had the good flavor of a nice stout and then a good finish from the smokiness of the roasted malts. Last but not least was the Everlees Irish Red which started off smooth before some sweetness at the finish. To be honest, I would have preferred it without that sweetness. Out of the bunch I would have to pick the Stout as my favorite closely followed by the IPA. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed all of the beers that I tried here and would be interested in trying their food as well! read more

Small inside and no outdoor seating but the staff was lovey to chat with. Limited menu but I enjoyed my beer

LOVED this brewery. Great location. Its a fun spot, the table by the water is awesome, and shuffle board was fun. Most important- the beer was GREAT. IPAs were not bitter at all, stout was just like its supposed to be. Really good selection, we're really glad we stopped here. read more

This is a nice little nanobrewery. It's located in the basement of a flower shop, so it's a little hard to find. The taproom has a small bar and a little more space for those standing. The bar is a beautiful pine slab, and the custom woodwork is attractive. There is a bathroom that is clean and nice. The beers here are good. He had 5 beers on tap, for samples, flights, pint pours, and 32 oz. or 64 oz. growler fills. There was a wheat beer, a blonde ale, an IPA, a brown ale, and a stout. He also has a couple beers in 22oz. bottles for sale. The real draw for us was the owner/brewer/bartender. He's a nice guy, and he loves what he does. He's serious about cleanliness, and he likes to do things right. He obviously likes to talk about beer. We had a good time, and would come back if we were in the area. read more

Happened to drop by last summer, looked in the window (it was closed) and Jon Shackett saw me peering in the window and let me in. Had a cordial, informative chat with Jon, left, and came by the following Friday when they were open and bought a 64 oz. growler of either a stout or a porter (hey, it was a year ago, and I drank it right quick); it was delicious. On Friday night, July 27, 2018, we saw the sign that Shackett's Brewery in their new location was open. We decided to try it. Upon entering their establishment, all of the tables were occupied, though one table for six had two people sitting at it (in the two middle seats). We stood in the doorway, unsure if we were supposed to find our own seating, or if an employee would greet us. Everyone, both staff and customers, stared at us. No on approached us. We continued to stand in the doorway for about a minute. We finally left, after feeling that we were not welcomed there. I might try it again to see if I can find a seat, but am a bit reluctant after our less than warm welcome. read more

Love this place! Relaxed, and very clean atmosphere. We have already been back multiple times with family and friends. Food was surprisingly delicious. Great no frills nano-brewery. Owner loves to talk about beer. We poked our head in early last weekend and he brought us in and gave us a tour, showing us his new brewing tanks. We have purchased t-shirts, hats and growlers too. Location that I will never go to again. Went yesterday, and was going to sit at the bar, when I was advised that the ordering needed to be done at the sign two feet to the left. I mentioned this wasn't a good business model, more to my wife than anyone else, but it clearly upset the waitress. She set down the drinks, showed me how to pay and disappeared into the back. We sat down, and started tasting the drinks when she comes out with the owner where the haranguing started that included the idea I was rude to the waitress. Now I don't know how saying a "business model" will not work could possibly be construed as being rude, unless the waitress came up with the policy, but neither would leave my wife and I alone for several minutes. Most uncomfortable experience in my life. To be fair, the owner paid for the beer, less my rude customer's tip that I had left. Drank half the beer, and left, and will never return. read more

Awesome Nano Brewery in the heart of Bristol, NH. I have tried every brew that the brewmaster Jon has made. Each one is fantastic in it's own way. Shackett's Brewery is a classic start-up that is moving on to bigger and better things in spring of 2018. Currently located in the basement below the only flower shop in Bristol (across from US Post Office at the only stoplight in town), John Shackett brews a wonderful blonde ale that I prefer. He has others for samplers that allow those with an interest in fine nano-brews to enjoy. Highly recommended visit while enjoying the sights and beauty of Bristol -- a well-kept secret jewel of the pristine Newfound Lake area.
