These folks were really incredible. We had a pretty big move, 1400 sq ft with lots of books and music etc etc, and they were very organized, clean, efficient, and nice to us. They took things apart, put them back together, and even did a small repair job on an old antique chest that had been messed up for years. Let me first start by saying that I absolutely DETEST moving. I get depression, anxiety and a sense of dread when the time comes to do so. I came to Yelp in order to find some local movers to ease my stress. They narrowed it down for me but I ultimately chose Solidarity and I'm sure glad I did! Communication with them was crazy easy and always friendly. Just go to their website to complete a very detailed survey of what you have and they will quickly get back to you with a quote via email. The quote was extremely inexpensive! That really shocked me. Setting it all up and adding more items and even having a change of day for the move was all handled so well. The movers were a few minutes late but I was texted through out the delivery window with updates, which was very kind. The movers were so nice and professional. Took my bed frame apart with ease. Got very clunky items out of my small hole of an apartment with ease. Then maneuvered it into a bigger apartment but with tighter doorways. Didn't think it would be possible to do that, but they did. They were recommended to me by a friend who has moved with them several times, and after receiving quotes from several top movers in NYC, their quote came in at almost half of the price as others. Not only that, but they were willing to price match other moving companies, although that was never a problem. The entire process was seamless. Their online inventory system made it really easy to create a list of what we were moving, and as any changes were made we always had a really open communication via email with them. I called a handful of other movers before I booked Solidarity, and not only did Solidarity have the best quote, they also have an itemized moving rate, so I could adjust my moving specifications up to 48 hours in advance (very helpful for me). The itemized rate also seems fairer to me than a flat guesstimating rate. I moved a studio's worth of stuff, and Jon and his teammate were friendly, Covid-safe, and super quick! They arrived right on time (ten minutes early, actually), and the whole move took only about three and a half hours (from a one flight walk up to an elevator building, though some furniture had to come up the stairs in my new place). All of my stuff arrived in perfect condition - including some valuable/fragile instruments - and the guys set everything up so nicely. Moving sucks and no one likes it, but Solidarity Movers made my move as smooth as can be. These peeps were ultra responsive, incredibly reasonably priced, and very efficient. The day of my move, the foreman texted me with an hour window of arrival and they were right on time. I ended up having to add a few things on to my original quote, and they were very flexible. I had a relatively small move, but the guys on my job were fast but careful. There are many pros and really just one con - The Con....they have to leave once they have finished your move. That's it!! Is it raining?- Don't worry, the rain runs right off them, no impact what so ever! It rained the day I moved and to be honest I wanted to bail out -lol. But no- there Mike, "Bars" and Rudy were, like it was the middle of summer! Heavy furniture? - Lifted, wrapped and packaged like a gift. No huffing , puffing or stress - just done! Are you moving everything or just a few items - Don't worry they have an inventory of what is moving. These guys are the best, they are personable, respectful, efficient, calm, funny (if you can drop YOUR self-inflicted stress levels and take the time to chat while they work), they're careful and nothing seems to faze them. I was going through a stressful time when I moved 3 weeks ago. I think I emailed and 'edited' my moving list more times than is acceptable (verging on annoying), but still the cheery replies came back. They assured me .... If it's humanly possible, my large sofa would get out and into my new place (despite the challenges the original delivery company had). I managed to remove the feet from the sofa - they moved it into my new place like a knife cutting through butter - I was shocked!! Every item put in its new place within a couple of hours and hang on - didn't I just move, it's like a dream! Yes, you will dream (sleep well) that night, because you picked the RIGHT moving company. AND the price ...... is NICE!! Very competitive, only one other company quoted slightly less, but their potential add-ons would have taken the final price over the quote from Solidarity. Booked them on a friend's recommendation and they didn't disappoint. I underestimated how much time all my last-minute stuff would take the morning of and was taping up a few boxes and throwing stuff in bags when the guys arrived, but they still got right to work. I'm not the best at packing so I was worried a few things might get damaged but everything made it to my new apartment in one piece, including a metal and glass greenhouse cabinet. I was also worried the cost would end up being higher than the final quote they gave me, because there were a few extra boxes/bags than I expected, but it stayed the same. After a lot of research decided to go with these guys because of previous reviews and reliability and they were great! Got in touch with Zac to get a quote and he responded within 30 minutes. Their website to get an exact estimate was easy to use and I got the final quote the next day. My move was scheduled for the exact day and time I wanted. Three guys showed up within the time frame they prepared me for and packed everything in the truck in about 30 minutes and unloaded all even faster where I asked them to. THE BEST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER. As other Yelpers have noted, Zak and his team were extremely responsive and helpful. I must have researched 10-15 movers and the response rate, accessibility (phone call, email, and texting), and transparent pricing made Solidarity Movers the obvious pick. I inherited some furniture from my stepdad's house in Connecticut. So many movers wanted to charge by the hour, which I understand for a local move, but I wasn't about to pay 4+ hours for someone to sit in traffic. Solidarity Movers offered me a flat rate, confirmed and reconfirmed the details, and we were set up with plenty of time in advance for any hiccups or changes. In addition to the reviews, they were by far the most affordable movers I contacted, which I appreciated. Not all of us have thousands of discretionary dollars to spend on one moving job. The movers were sooo sweet to my mom and stepdad, and were super-duper careful with the antique furniture. They arrived earlier than anticipated, and even when they hit some traffic, they kept me posted with updates from the road by text. Bonus, they don't charge for packing materials! When they got to my apartment, a three flight/fourth floor walkup, they were chipper, friendly, and very quick and efficient. They didn't complain at all about the stairs or the heavy maple furniture. Plus, they didn't mind at all that my nosy pup was "helping" by trailing them from the door to the bedroom and back. Give Mike a raise. I hate moving. There is no one on God's green earth that *enjoys* moving, particularly in the cluster [insert expletive here] that is Brooklyn and ESPECIALLY not in the middle of a global pandemic, but Mike seriously helped me out. I had a butt load of stuff to move, as my partner and I have a lot of things (me, clothing, my weakness; him, music production stuff, his actual profession) and I, in my greatest of wisdom (I have a graduate degree, y'all), estimated that I would have 8 medium boxes. I was given a quote based on my estimate, which was more than reasonable. We ended up with more than 20+ medium boxes alone, and 10 additional large ones. This, of course, is not all, as I also had a kitchen island, a large TV, a mattress, one of this stupid gigantic mid century modern armchairs that look like a sculpture from the MoMA, and many other things to move. We tallied up the additional boxes, and Mike let me know every step of the way how much additional I would have to pay for the extra items. Mike seriously moved all of them!!! Down 4 flights of a walk-up and up 3 flights to my new place!!! Without complaining!!!! I even took some boxes from the top of the stairs into my apartment but MIKE TOOK THEM OUT OF MY HANDS and said not to worry. Seriously, I wonder if he's human! He must have burned 10000000 calories in the July heat walking up and down all those stairs. He even made sure that the shelves in my island were assembled back together when it was in the new apartment. Robert also helped with driving the truck, who did an excellent job parking and navigating! Honestly dudes, if I can buy these two guys a beer from 6 feet away one day, I will. Solidarity Movers made my pandemic move so truly very easy! I've been a total space cadet lately and forgot to add mattress + tv to my initial quote (or maybe there was something with the interface? Either way, you should double check), but Guy and David were great sports and were able to roll with the added changes. Everything got to my new place in one piece, and they were able to persevere through some classic New York City parking issues. At one point, I was the one waiting in the moving truck so they wouldn't get a parking ticket. All in all, with parking issues and moving across boroughs, the move took about 5ish hours. My girlfriend and I used Solidarity for our move from Brooklyn to Washington Heights. Zak made the whole planning and booking process extremely painless. I sent him our inventory, updated it twice and always received my quotes back in a very timely fashion. He also provided me with a certificate of insurance for the building we were moving into within a few hours of the request. The moving team, Jon, Mustafa, and David arrived well within the arrival time window. The move went extremely quickly and the only additional charge was the assembly/disassembly fee for a small yellow love seat (in order to get it through the door). $25 was very reasonable and Jon and his whole team were really lovely throughout the move. There were two snags, both of which were handled with EXCELLENT customer service (thank you Zak for your follow-up) at the end of the move, but I think they are worth mentioning here: - one was a large sleeper sofa that needed to be slightly dissembled to get out the door of our narrow 3rd floor brownstone apartment. It was definitely a difficult piece and we had anticipated that, but seeing as we were able to get it in to the apartment without any damage, I was sad to see that there was damage to our door frame (the crew tried to force it through the door before taking the legs off). - the other was that Jon alerted me at the end of the move that the cement base of our standing lamp had been broken in transit when one of the men set it down too firmly. I've been living in NYC for 15 years and have been in 8 different apartments so I know the perils of moving. The fact is that sometimes there are casualties along the way and I'm comfortable with that. It was because our landlord took money out of our security deposit--for the door frame damage--that I requested Solidarity help shoulder the cost a little bit. When I brought this up, along with the lamp situation; Zak made it right very quickly. I appreciate his attention to detail and excellent customer service skills. Zak and I exchanged several emails making sure my complicated move and list of items was accurate. He was SUPER responsive and kind during what is an emotional and stressful time in my life! Had a great experience moving with Solidarity. David and his assistant were friendly and professional, did not damage walls or any of my belongings, and worked quickly. I was all moved from Bushwick to Harlem in under 2 hours - including a tricky couch move within the apartment I was moving into. They arrived on time and handled everything with care. David even gave me medical/nutritional advice when he saw that my collarbone was broken.
