This facility needs to be investigated. I have been paying for two storage units that were supposed to be "temperature controlled ". It took two years to get the temperature below 95 degrees during the summertime. Management not helpful at all. Last week rats /mice have been eating the furniture in my unit. Today, the lights in halls to unit will not stay on. No flashlights or back up lighting . No help from management. No phone numbers given to me by management for help at a corporate level. This place has a rating of F . Was infested with Chinese dragon bugs. Fed x trucks block facility entrance and you have to wait for them to unload. I have yet to get reimbursed for any of these issues. Stand clear of this place. No one has any power to help. I will be speaking with the courthouse due to bait & switch, raising my rent by $100 without notice. Rats, no lighting, poor air quality, lack of temperature controlled units. I'll be back to report daily. It is a hazard not to have lighting in the common area . Totally disgusted with this facility and the lack of manage or assistance. To be clear, the physical facility itself is well-maintained. The space is clean, well lit, secure, and access is generally convenient. Those operational positives are appreciated and acknowledged. However, I have serious concerns regarding pricing transparency, autopay system handling, and customer communication, which have created unnecessary confusion, stress, and financial uncertainty. My monthly rate increased from approximately $68 to $110, representing a 61.8% increase, without clear advance notice explaining the timing, percentage increase, or any opportunity to address or plan for the change. This type of sharp price escalation without transparent communication feels inconsistent with fair consumer practices and closely resembles the "bait and switch" concerns raised in public reporting eg class action lawsuit of 2019/2020. I was enrolled in autopay and reasonably expected that if a payment failed, I would receive immediate and clear notification with instructions on how to correct the issue. Instead: The autopay payment failed without any timely or proactive notice. I was later told by a representative that the system automatically disables autopay after a failed attempt -- a policy that was never communicated to me in advance or at the time of enrollment. The only communications I received were generic system emails (screenshots attached), which did not clearly explain what action was required or that autopay had been disabled. This lack of transparency directly contributed to the missed payment situation. I was later informed verbally that this is standard system behavior, but this policy was never disclosed at enrollment nor clearly communicated afterward. Horrible! The late fees are over $100 a month on a $150 month rental. They will auction your items without notifying you. They will not produce proof that they ever contacted you about the auction. They will not give you an itemized statement of your account. The auctioneer they privately sold to will then contact you and want to know if you want to buy your items back for $1,000+ Edit: The "auctioneer" now wants me to buy back my personal paperwork and children's memory boxes for no less than $2,000. I need to make my offer "worth it for 3 partners". If I don't pay, my personal papers, children's drawings, and family photos will go in a dumpster. I am not being told the location. Don't trust this storage. They raised my rates after few months. NOT A SAFE PLACE ! Apparently anyone could enter the building, even if there is actually an access code. Part of my stuff was stolen during the move, and nobody wanted to help me figure out who might have taken it. Really poor customer service. They are NOT polite and very inefficient. read more

I'm finding 2 dead and 1 live ROACH today. My stuff has been in there for over 2 years. U pay these people soooo much money and they treat u like a criminal!!!! The customer service in this place is disgusting every time. The gentleman who I assume to be the manager will not help or disclose information unless you know the right question to ask. When getting a unit, we were taken to the basement floor and he tried to give us a unit with a pipe running through it, eating at the space, for the same price as one without. Just as we signed it occured to me to ask if we can switch to one above ground and I found it strange that it wasn't offered. The ink didn't even dry yet but we were told would be a fee now to switch as I should've known to ask this. Their holiday hours are incorrectly posted on Google causing us to make a trip there on Thanksgiving only to see that it's closed and no one was picking up the phone. When I brought this up to the same gentleman, he shrugged and said I should've have known that they would be closed. Came in today and again the same gentlemen was incredibly rude telling me I should have know they are closed. Will never recommend This storage unit especially with so many other ones in the area! I met with Bishop and Char to rent a storage unit. The facilities are grade A+, the tour, unit, access and terms were perfect. There's definitely a reason they are top rated. This is the kind of business that invests in itself and it shows. They are easily accessible from the the Subway and next to the highway. They also sell boxes, locks, tape and more and very fair prices. The loading and unloading dock can easily accept and semi and there's plenty of parking. A) the building is really clean. No idea what other people are complaining about. Everything look freshly painted, and the halls couldn't have been cleaner. I've rented a lot of storage units over the years, and this was perhaps the cleanest I've ever seen. B) I've used this company in the past, but in a different city. When I came in to open a new space here, they had everything on file and made it very easy for me to sign up. C) Charlene, the assistant manager who worked with me, was super! Nice, knowledgeable, clear about all the fees and insurance rules and so on. D) ALL storage places raise the fees from time to time. It's a drag, but get used to it. E) Read carefully before you rent: there are special prices for walk-up units, but the website is very clear about that. F) Yes, they have draconian rules about missed payments and lock-clippings and auctions and so on, but so does everybody else. The industry is regulated by NY State. Nobody cares about your problems in this business -- if you don't want to see your stuff on Storage Wars, pay your bill on time! read more

For one thing, the storage-access hours are very limited (it is only open until 7pm on weeknights), which is particularly annoying as the place is a bit far out, in Bay Ridge. I signed up for my storage unit online. When I arrived with my stuff to put in storage, I was told that the space I'd reserved was a 5th-floor walk up. Having little time and no help moving, I grudgingly upgraded to a space with elevator access for about $15/month more than my previous space. After I'd started moving in, I was also told that my new space didn't include the free month that I'd received with my online signup. I kept the space as I didn't see another option at the time. My husband and I used this storage space for about two years after we got engaged and moved in together. Every time we came here, we were able to park our car inside their lot. Maybe we got lucky because usually there was only one spot left. Just about every employee we dealt with was nice and helpful except for one guy. Their hours are pretty convenient too. I had a good experience when I rented my unit. They were courteous and very helpful. When I first moved in they gave me a different unit than the one I agreed upon when I signed up. But that was only because some of some bad rain that hit our area and the unit I originally signed up for had a window that leaked. I'm renting space from Extra Space in Bay Ridge for a second time. The person at the front desk was very friendly. I reserved the space online. I got the "half month off" for the first month, but by the time I paid the one-time setup fee, my first payment was only slightly less than a full month's rent. You are also required to pay for insurance, which ended up being $10 more per month (though you could pay more for more better coverage.) All in all, the service is good, the space is clean, and the prices are comparable or cheaper than other self-storage places. If they hadn't asked for a one-time setup fee and insurance, or at least stated that those would be required when reserving online, I would have given 5 stars. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This place is so unprofessional, over priced and disgusting. I was planning on taking my stuff out of there a month ago as I am pregnant and they raised my rent to $117 per month. When we arrived there to take the stuff out, we opened the unit to observe mouse/rat DROPPINGS ALL OVER my belongings. I went downstairs and informed the front desk and was told they would take a report. I called back a few days later and there was no report found. I asked to speak to a Manager in which I was told I could not. I stated I was almost 8 months pregnant and even being around mouse/rat droppings could be extremely toxic to a Mother and her unborn child and I was not going to risk my child by cleaning out my unit with rodent droppings all over it. I was offered NO compassion whatsoever and was told "there's nothing we can do." I stated I should not have to pay rent for this month as it is not my fault we could not remove my belongings due to the risk of the toxins carried in rodent droppings. I was offered ZERO help, was not transferred to a manager and was told there's nothing they can due. I am EXTREMELY upset and disgusted and ended up having to pay for the month of September. I am so appalled that they do not care about the risks their rodent problem can pose to people yet alone to a PREGNANT WOMAN carrying a CHILD, as rodent droppings can contain harmful airborne diseases and toxins by breathing them in alone, without even having to touch the objects with the droppings on them. DO NOT, I repeat *****DO NOT******* store your items at this storage facility. They are UNSANITARY, UNPROFESSIONAL, NOT EMPATHETIC OR SYMPATHETIC IN ANYWAY SHAPE OR FORM and EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE.
