It's a very slick operation - they know how to put you at ease about sending off an important piece of jewellery - and they took good care of it. I had it back within two weeks and it was in perfect nick, and has stayed in working order ever since. Knocking off a star because it was ridiculously expensive for a simple tightening job on a gold bracelet - £50! In all fairness I believe that covers the insurance in case anything happens whilst it's out of your possession, and they did a great job, but WOW - that's crazy money for 2 minutes work with a tiny screwdriver.

The Cartier recently stopped working after condensation developed under the crystal. Upon inspecting the watch, I discovered six of the eight caseback screws were completely missing. This watch has never been handled or opened by any other third party since it was returned to us, and it is kept safely in a mechanical watch winder. In my opinion, it is highly likely that the case back was not properly secured during the service, causing the remaining screws to work loose over time, destroying the watertight seal, and allowing moisture to ruin the mechanism. I sent a formal, private email to their service team to bring this severe oversight to their attention and requested an inspection. They have completely ignored my communication. While the service took place a few years ago, I expected a specialist workshop to stand by their craftsmanship--or at the very least, respond to a loyal customer. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend their services.

I felt the sales staff judged me on my appearance and were not very helpful from the outset (I had just finished a night shift and did not look my best!) When I asked to see the particular product I was looking for, I was told by the sales assistant that it was probably out of my price range! I did not appreciate this and needless to say I took my business elsewhere. I found exactly what I was looking for in a different jewellery store but I felt a great need to return to Ernest Jones in Pretty Woman style & flash my new purchase in their face (I didn't though!) :0)

Where it comes into its own though is with the various services offered, such as designing your own jewellery - great for engagement and wedding rings. David also offers a faultless alteration and repair service for any older jewellery and the travelling valuer they use is excellent. Best of all though is the service which is always interested, friendly and caring. It may not be the cheapest jeweller around if comapred to H Samuel and the rest, but the service and attention to detail is definitely worth paying that little bit extra for.

Terrible service, i took in 4 watches for new batteries, I received a phone call from David telling…read more2 of the watches where dead and even with new batteries in they where not working, he couldn't get the case back off another and a screw on the 4th was stuck. I picked up the watches took them into a Timpsons randomly and all 4 batteries where replaced within 20 minutes and all 4 working perfectly. Which brings into question what Goldhill jewellers and David where doing with my watches ?
