Pros -Ash's service was wonderful -the gruner veltliner was my fav wine from the tasting menu -affordable tasting $25 for 6 pours -outdoor patio area -plenty of parking -dog friendly Cons -none Rating 9/10

We stopped in on a rainy afternoon and opted to stand at the bar. They have a huge patio which gets packed when the meatier is nice. We loved learning about all of their unique wines from Ash. He was so friendly and told us about how the wines are made and about the farm down the street. They have two orange wines which I really enjoyed and we loved the Carbonic Syrah. Looking forward to coming back when the sun is out and enjoying a glass of wine on the patio!

Excellent wines and atmosphere! Our server was so attentive and friendly and even poured us a few special wines he happened to have open which was nice. We ended up buying a bottle and taking it to Bar Le Cote for dinner that night and it went great with the food. Would recommend this place if you like natural wine :)

I always take home a bottle!

Organic, biodynamic, natural wine. Solminor wine company offers all three of these very crucial specifications for natural wine geeks in the form of pet nat rosé, sparkling wine, reds and whites. Solminer offers some very cool Austrian Varieties like Grüner Vetliner, Blaufrankish, and Riesling, along with some classic French varieties like Syrah and Grenache. Solminor wine company tasting room is not the place I go for ambience or a trendy playlist to listen to. It's the place I go for a really good natural wine. That being said, I do appreciate the clean minimalist design space, and the walk up bar that I usually stand at so that I can hear all about the wines and how they're made. Everybody who works there is friendly and helpful. The tasting room is located in downtown Los Olivos, a short walk from any other tasting room you might want to visit on a winetasting weekend trip. It is open daily from 11 AM to 5 PM and reservations are recommended, although I've had luck walking in without a reservation on several occasions. For those who like to get really geeky, ask about what they are doing in terms of regenerative farming using sheep at their winery. One thing to note, like most places in Los Olivos, wi-fi can be hit or miss. With that in mind, Solminor wine company is a great place to relax and not do any work while sipping on a cool glass of wine. Ps: Did anybody else laugh out loud when reading the review from "experienced wine tasters" who complained about being disgusted by pigéage à pied (foot stomping) during winemaking? Someone accustomed to drinking only mass produced, low quality conventional wines which have become commonplace in modern times may think it strange, but low intervention winemaking is as ancestral as it gets- and has been done this way in practice for centuries. While everyone's palate is unique, any "experienced taster " should have no problem identifying the artisanal quality of the small production natural wine found out Solminer wine company. For context, I'm educated as Sommelier and currently work as wine writer.

Stopped by at 3pm on Sunday and were lucky enough to be greeted by the owner/vintner, David. He was very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with him about his wines. Many have an Austrian influence thanks to his wife. It was a busy afternoon and Solminer's tasting room is right in the middle of Los Olivos. We enjoyed almost all the wines we sampled. The tasting fee is $20 but waived with the purchase of 3 bottles. The bottle prices are mid range and affordable for most. They focus on conscious farming and one of the wines (Syrah) is produced using carbonic maceration. It doesn't need aging & is produced more quickly than the traditional wines. We did enjoy it but don't personally feel it has the same flavor and taste profile you expect from a Syrah. Regardless, we enjoyed the wines. We took a few bottles home and will definitely visit again.

We have been wanting to come here to try their Blaufrankish and other Austrian wines, and finally got the chance. Very nice shady patio overlooking a casual grassy lawn. We had tasting of 5 wines - 2 whites, 1 cider, 2 reds, for $15/tasting. We weren't a huge fans of the wine, and the tasting was a bit on the slow side - about 45 minutes. Worth a visit, but not sure I'd come back next time.

Only thing good about this place was the wine glass, the server, and the yard. Wine is HORRIBLE. Steer clear!

Ah, well here we go again! Re-entering a review, as yelp took it down as there was not enough "detail." I'm guessing the business complained about it. I'm providing my original review, plus MORE detail. Original review -- OMG the worst wines EVERRRRRRRR. Just think kombucha (as in the nasty tasting ones, not the "commercial" ones.) I'm surprised they are allowed by the health department to serve this stuff! MORE DETALS, you're welcome Yelp and Solminer! 1. We visited last month. 2. The wines taste NASTY. Both our opinions. We are a couple. We are experienced wine drinkers! 3. YES, it tastes like Kombucha, our opinion. Most of the wines. Maybe one was drinkable. Sour, moldy-smelling/tasting, bitter, etc. 4. How disgusting that their "orange wine" (which we tried in the tasting) is STOMPED ON BY BARE FEET (according to their description). Disgusting. Also, according to the (super nice, by the way!) guy who was serving us, that wine was fermented by spontaneous fermentation. So that got me thinking! ... Do the math... S.F. plus BARE FOOT STOMPED by somebody who could have had foot fungus... could lead to nasty / funky / "spoiled" wine. What else do you want to know? This is the worst winery we have EVER been to. The grounds are beautiful though. Albeit confusing. You'll be asked to sit under certain colored umbrellas and not umbrellas in the other part of the yard. Not sure if it's a neighboring business or what, but it's the same yard. The guy who served us was super super nice, and was the only redeeming part of this visit. Oh, and the wine glasses are super nice too! I got a picture of one. IS THIIS ENOUGH, YELP AND SOLMINER? Let's hope so. And for the extra detail, please keep in mind that THIS WAS THE WORST WINE WE HAVE EVER EVER HAD. Oh, and YES, I truly am surprised that it's allowed to be sold. I'm curious what the microbiological content is. I know my microbiology and have a medical background, by the way... so I'm not trying to slander anybody, but I truly am curious how they get away with selling such nasty stuff. THIS IS MY OPINION. So, go ahead and try this place if you want, but YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. I hope this gives enough detail. worst wine EVER. WORRRRRST WINE EVERRRRR. Most of it, I can't even consider wine. Oh, I'm attaching some pics.

What's better then a winery with a beautiful outdoor area? A winery with the cutest dog. We were greeted by Honey, who just happens to be the cutest dog ever (we were obsessed to say the least). Everyone was great, the outdoor area is beyond beautiful with all the trees and shade. We were on a tour for a bachelorette party so they brought out the chambong. The only down side was that you can't do a tasting outside and the seating inside was very limited. Also on the wine tasting menu it had a sparkling red and the guy serving us had to up and go so fast (like in the middle of the tasting) that he didn't even bring us that one. When we asked about it, he said they would have to open a new bottle and asked if we would be up to buying a bottle in exchange. Kinda odd since it was on the menu, but we bought one anyways just because some of the girls really wanted to try it.

It was the first of five tastings we did during our weekend in town, and the wines were, admittedly, the least impressive. They went down easy, though, and we had a pleasant visit. We checked into our hotel on Friday around 5:30 and quickly realized that all the wineries on our list were closed. We asked the receptionist where we might be able to do a tasting, and she said Carhartt was our best bet. It was quite open when we walked in, almost intimidatingly so, the live music loud as we rounded the sidewalk outside the enclosed patio. Jack welcomed us into the tasting room and suggested we do a vibe check on the patio before deciding where to sit. We peeked outside and it seemed fun in a way we weren't looking for, a bit of a party atmosphere with a live band and a lot of people. We took our seats in the quieter tasting room, where we were able to enjoy the music from a distance while we drank some wine. We both did the house tasting, which came with five pours of Carhartt wines: the 2024 Top Branch, the 2022 Sin Nada, the 2022 Sangiovese, the 2022 Rebel Roan, and the 2020 Northerly. Jack also gave us a taste of the 2021 Graciano. They were all nice wines, but we particularly liked the Sin Nada, the Sangiovese, and the Graciano, and took home two bottles of each, getting one $25 tasting fee waived with each purchase of three bottles. Jack was a great host, and he told us all about the wines and winery as we went along. (He pre-empted our first question, saying that yes, they were the same Carhartts as the Carhartt clothing label, but not the same company. I guess just the classic generational wealth to winemaking pipeline.) It was a helpful introduction to both the Carhartt wines and Los Olivos, and Jack was good company. I said Carhartt was the least impressive of the wineries we visited, but it's also worth noting that it had the lowest price point. Carhartt isn't gunning for Robert Parker ratings. The wines are accessible and tasty, and I have a feeling we'll go through our bottles very fast.

The place is casual and not tiny, but it definitely fills up. I don't think they were taking walk-ins while we were there. The tasting room--or tasting patio, I suppose--was really pleasant, a breezy outdoor space in front of a charming brick-red house with a strong Los Olivos aesthetic. My only complaint is that the bathroom was a porta-potty, though it was the nice kind, with running water. We got our own table and a friendly, knowledgeable young server brought us our wines and explained what we were drinking. He was busy, so this was one of the less in-depth tastings we did on this trip, but the experience was easy and enjoyable. There were two tastings on offer, the classic estate flight and the "fresh and esoteric." Since this was our first visit, we both went with the estate, and it was a great introduction to Stolpman's wines. We tried the 2025 Sauvignon Blanc, the 2024 Chenin Blanc, the 2024 La Cuadrilla, the 2023 Sangiovese, and the 2024 Angeli, the label's flagship Syrah. They were all excellent and very well priced--the Cuadrilla goes for $26. It's also a delicious wine with a cool provenance, a red blend made by Stolpman's vineyard workers on a designated block, in what looks to be a successful profit sharing project. The tasting fee was $25, waived with a three-bottle purchase. We snapped up three each of the Sauvignon Blanc and the Sangiovese, which cost $24 and $36 a bottle. Tremendous value for such outstanding wines. I have a feeling we'll go through these quickly, and may be tempted to join the wine club if we do. Either way, though, I hope to go back to Stolpman. I'm definitely curious about that second tasting.

We came with our pup, and Google Maps took us up Tepusquet from the 166. Don't do it. Just don't. I love a good adventure, but this didn't make any sense for being any faster or more efficient. It's windy, narrow, and steep. Poor June was car sick from the drive. While the drive had some great views, we were anxious to get to Cambria. Upon arrival we noticed that the tasting room was uphill from the vineyards, providing a great view. I will say that the tasting room was cut into a little crevice so the views from the deck are limited. However, there is a beautiful private tasting area on a hill (when you turn into the winery parking lot) that would be a fantastic spot for good views. The wine was nice, plenty of variety. And I appreciated the unique guidance of wines from the staff. By providing your preferred wines and notes they will create a personal tasting menu. We also opted for the charcuterie for 2 which was perfect. Plenty of bites to accompany our tasting. It was a cold and rainy day so we took a table by the fireplace and enjoyed our wine tasting. Our host was attentive and allowed us to take our time while we tasted. We left with several bottles of wine. If you are in the Santa Maria Valley area and you want to experience some delicious wines then you need to stop by Cambria Winery.

We'd had one of the pinots at a fancy restaurant a few years back and knew the place had a good reputation. We also appreciated the easy walk-in situation on a Saturday afternoon. The tasting room was casual and charming, part "mercantile," selling wine, of course, and sundry gift items and home goods. There was plentiful seating, some of it at the bar and some of it in what felt like a large living room, homily decorated with lots of art on the walls. It was pretty busy while we were there, but not in the least bit crowded. We sat at the bar, which was run by an enormous former football player (if I eavesdropped correctly) and a woman from New Zealand on the verge of retirement. I'd watch that movie. We were helped by the woman, who was friendly and knowledgeable, a great guide to the house wines. The flight started with the 2025 Rosé of Mourvédre, then went to Liquid Farm's Chardonnays and Pinots. There was the 2024 White Hill Chardonnay, the 2024 Golden Slope Chardonnay, the 2023 "SBC" Pinot Noir, the 2023 Fiddlestix Pinot Noir, and the 2023 Four Pinot Noir. The wines were fantastic across the board. The tasting fee was $40, on the steep side, probably because the space invites casual drinking. It was easily waived, with one flight waived per two bottles purchased. The wines were all between $30 and $94, so this was easy math. The kind of easy math that had us leaving Los Olivos with a trunk--and back seat--full of wine. We picked up a White Hill Chardonnay, an "SBC" Pinot, and two of the Fiddlestix, a prime haul that we look forward to drinking. We had a lovely time at Liquid Farm and would recommend it to anyone wine tasting in Los Olivos.

Jeff, Brian, Anthony, and the rest of the team always make us feel at home when we're there. We even recently hosted our rehearsal dinner there, which was the perfect addition to our wedding weekend. We're so grateful that Liquid Farm was a part of it. Of course, their wines are also amazing, and our guests loved them - especially the White Hill Chardonnay! Highly recommend stopping by next time you're in town!

I'm a huge wine nerd, so I tend to ask a lot of questions, usually because I'm genuinely excited about what's in the glass. Kevin was pouring during our visit and the depth of his knowledge absolutely blew me away. No matter how technical my questions got, he seemed to have an answer. Most people probably wouldn't care about that level of detail, but for me it made the experience that much better. It was a pretty slow day when we visited, so we were able to have a really personal tasting experience, which is always my favorite. If the room had been packed, I'm sure the interaction would have been different, but that's not a knock on them at all. We just got lucky with the timing. The tasting room itself isn't doing anything wildly unique, but honestly, who cares when the wines are this good? The focus here is clearly on what's in the glass, and Dragonette continues to make some of my favorite wines in Santa Barbara County. There's a very good chance I'll be joining the wine club sometime soon.

We were told we could taste at Epiphany, Fess Parker, or Fess Parker funk zone in Santa Barbara. Our next visit was in April to their Santa Barbara funk zone location. It was a windy day so we had to sit indoors. It was semi busy but we were able to get seats at the bar. That's where it started to go downhill. The gentleman at the bar was quite arrogant and basically told us we could only taste a select few wines, unless we wanted to 'upgrade' and pay an additional fee. Never have I had to 'Upgrade' a tasting at a winery I was a member of. It did not give us a very welcoming feeling. We ended up buying a few bottles, as did our friends, but the experience did not make us want to return. Our next visit in June was again to Epiphany. We arrived at about 4:10 and the young man at the counter said he could not serve us a flight as it was too late. I mentioned that we were members and he did give us 2 pours and gave us our shipment. Again, a very unwelcoming feeling overall. We did not feel like members typically feel. Not sure if we will bother to go to Fess Parker or just cancel our membership.
