But that seems to be the trend lately with a lot of practices. First of all, I have a large amount of respect for office staff. I believe they work hard to make the patient's experience a positive one. However, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, I wanted to report a phone problem to the office manager. I politely asked to see her. She never came out. Realizing she is a busy person, I asked that she call me -- which never happened. Here was the issue, which I thought to be significant. I had an eye issue which I thought needed to be addressed. I started calling about 1130 on Tuesday morning, September 1. The message on the phone said the voicemail was full and no one was picking up. I tried about 10 times -- so did my husband -- with the same message -- mailbox is full. Then I tried texting -- no response to my message. I tried online. Actually, my reason for the visit didn't fit any of the criteria listed. I tried for about three hours to get through. My husband tried. Finally, I just got in my car and drove over to the facility to make an appointment. (Wednesday -- there are no doctors in the office which I find rather unsettling). On my scheduled appointment, I thought the office manager should be aware of the situation I faced int rying to make an appointment -- however, as stated above, there was no communication between the two of us even though I respectfully asked. I thought it was important that they be aware of the issue. Again I have total respect for staff but I felt the phone issue was critical.

Plus all of the staff are friendly and helpful. I recently had a problem with my right eye which scared me. I woke up with sticking and tears streaming from my eye and I had problems seeing clearly from that eye. I thought it would soon go away but it didn't, it actually got worse. The following day I went into Thompson Eye Care but Dr Gerald wasn't there so I saw Dr Kathryn. She was super helpful and gentle with my eye. She ran thorough exams and explained everything she was doing. By the time she was through my eye felt a bit better and she called in prescription which I picked up that night and I was told to return the next day. The following day my eye felt better but still had the same symptoms this time I saw Dr Gerald who greeted me and told me Dr Kathryn apprised him of my problem. He ran a couple tests and took photos and he explained what he was seeing. He asked me some questions which made me realize that I had wiped my eye with a tissue and it scratched my eye. This caused the discomfort and an infection. This is the reason I have been coming to this place for my eye care. This father/daughter team is super able to make me feel taken care of. Over the years I have had my eye problems handled effectively, they are both patient and helpful. I actually know a couple of neighbors who also come here and they both love their services.

When he didn't return immediately I knew they did, and that gave me time to appreciate the extreme covid measures: wide distancing, universal masking, hand sanitizer on every counter. 10 minutes, $10, and my cherished Zeiss shades should be good for another 20 years. I would hands down no hesitation recommend her or her husband they both value their customers in every aspect. The office stays clean, keeps good magazines, very thorough with the patient care and treatment. He then said, the appt will be 15 min tops, so it's not a time to ask questions. I said, of course I want to be able to ask a couple questions, espec bc of eye irritation lately. He said, "I see your insurance is (x) and that only pays us like $60 per visit. We can't give patients longer than 15, we'd go out of business" (!) I couldn't believe it. The rudeness and the gall of mentioning my coverage resulted in poor profit for them. I suggested he NOT say those things to new or returning patients and he said he was trying to manage expectations, that patients "always complain" they want to be seen longer but it's not doable. Talk about poor patient relations/ customer service. I realize what the medical system is up against w insurance is rough, but never has a public-facing clinic employee been so dissuading about the care their provider provides. I can't NOT recommend this place enough; take your business to an office that will value it.

This was an excellent program with guaranteed results until recently when the business decided to…read morestart mailing medications instead of providing them at the end of your appointment. This business use to provide the pre-filled syringes of medication at the end of your appointment after performing a health assessment and discussing the best options. You were then given the option of the medical staff administering your first shot and taking the other 2 pre-filled syringes home to administer yourself or taking all 3 pre-filled syringes home to administer yourself. Recently, the business started the new practice of mailing medications in a box with ice instead providing patients with the 3 pre-filled syringes or providing patients the option of the medical staff administering the first one at the clinic. This clinic no longer administers the first shot. They no longer provide the or/filled syringes at the end of the appointment. The new process involves waiting to receive the medications in the mail. This significantly delays progress. On average you have to wait 4-5 days before you see the medication now. You have to wait to find out when it's shipped which takes days. In addition, this medication is suppose to stay frozen but people work and if you are going to leave a package on someone's door step that is temperature sensitive in August, that seems like a bit of an issue. The box that it is mailed in is far too large to fit into a mailbox, so you need to get home early. If you live in an apartment you could ask the office at your apartment complex to hold it, but those offices close early and that means a working person may not be able to get the medications and start until a week after the office appointment. What is really troublesome is that you are mailed empty syringes, alcohol rubs. and bottles of and medications with no directions. The medication is a pain to get in the syringes and then you have to call the clinic to confirm the specific dosage you need since the measurement on the syringes not match the measurement type that you were told you would be prescribed while at the clinic. I was told that you can ask that the medication be mailed to the clinic but that means a second visit before you can start your medication and usually that means a week delay to your start. To add insult to injury, you are told to return in 3 weeks but you are already a week behind the day you should have started. All this new process has done is cause discouragement and a desire to start looking at other programs to determine if it's possible to get the medication injected at the clinic to ensure you are doing it right or at least get the prefilled syringes while at your appointment. I asked about this change and I was told it was a law. I do not see any law regarding doctors bring required to mail all medications to patients.
