Ok, this is lengthy so be prepared. Where do I even begin? Oh, I know....absolutely amazing!! That's how I would have to describe the entire team at LasikPlus in Columbia, MD! From the time I walked through the doors for my consultation I was met with warm smiles (even through the masks) and friendliness. Scott took me back to do the testing to see if I was a candidate and he was GREAT! Funny, friendly, set any uneasiness for me aside. He was highly informative as to what I could expect (short and long term) and was ready to answer any questions I threw at him. I knew just after that portion that I really wanted to move forward with the procedure but also that I definitely wanted this location to perform it. From there, it was off to Dr. Bennehoff for my full eye health and vision exam. Again, super friendly and thorough. Solidified my faith in this location and eased any remaining nerves that I had. I then sat down with Christy who reviewed the pricing and payment options with me. She also made sure to inform me of what my post-care needs would be. One of which were a specific type of eye drop...and get this - NO sales pitch to purchase from them. That was a new experience as most places try to get you to purchase anything and everything you would need from them. And to top it all off, she was able to schedule me ASAP for the end of that same week. That was the best news ever as I was an avid contact wearer with a crazy work schedule and wearing my glasses for days was already super difficult. I arrived later that week for my actual procedure. I hit the door with a few last-minute reservations but once Irina and another young lady (I am so sorry I did not catch your name) got me all settled in, I was ready to go. My surgeon, Dr. Pasternak, came in to answer my last-minute question and off I went. The team talked me through the entire procedure (I swear it was less than 20 minutes) - they kept me calm and encouraged and WALAHHHHH, I CAN SEE! My husband chose LasikPlus for his much awaited laser surgery and signed up for their free consultant. The appointment went by quickly and they told him he is "perfect" candidate for the surgery. The receptionist was nice and told us about different offer and helped us getting the optimum discount we can get. We immediately took the date for the same week on Thursday at 4pm and were told to arrive at 4 rather than coming early. However, on the day of the appointment the story was opposite. We waited in the lobby till 5 even for getting started. Then we filled some forms with the receptionist. We then waited again to be called by nurse who gave me the prescription and went over the different dosage for steroids and antibiotic that needed to be taken after the surgery. After probably 15 more minutes of waiting, my hubby was taken in the room near the surgery room where he was given local anesthetic and then waited again for 20 mins. Finally he was taken in the surgery room and the operation lasted for probably 5 mins. I can watch the whole thing on the screen in the lobby which was relieving in a way. After the surgery, Dr. Goel was very assuring and asked me if I had any concerns. Overall, the surgery went great and my husband is all recovered and have 20/22 vision in just week. My only concern was waiting in the lobby for 3 hours for a 5 minute operation. I wish they would have managed the schedule better. Getting older is a drag! One if the main reasons, (aside from the never ending gray hair invasion) is my eyesight getting worse over time. As a result of our ever worsening vision, my GF and I made appointments at LasikPlus. These were only appointments to find out whether or not we were good candidates for Lasik. Turns out, we both are. But along the road to finding out, we had the pleasure of working with the team at LasikPlus in Columbia. These folks are the perfect blend of SUPER friendly and VERY professional!! I felt very well taken care of during the entire process. Every one of the eye exams were done with care. And everything that was happening throughout was explained clearly. I learned a lot about my eyes that I didn't know and I've owned them my whole life! Lol! INSIGHT AND TIPS: Wow okay, if you use contact lenses, wear eye make-up or occasionally use eye drops-this surgery should be a breeze for you. They do a lot of eye-touching that I was not used to so I was unfortunately a difficult client :( my body immediately went into flight mode. However, the PAIN DOES NOT LAST LONG!! After the surgery, you're going to feel like there is hair stuck in your eye that's sort of digging into you. That pain subsides after your nap. In fact, most pain subsides after the first day. Make sure you sleep a lot! Keep those eyes closed. Personally, I took nyquil and a sleep-aid and slept for 5hrs+ after my surgery and immediately felt relief. Like they say, the healing starts when your eyes are closed. Keep them close and remember- THE PAIN DOES NOT LAST LONG. You got this Another pro tip: change the settings in your phone to display your screen in black and white, keep it in night mode with low light settings. I did not use my phone at all for the first 2 days but every time I needed to check it, it was helpful having my phone accommodate my sensitive eyes read more

Tl;dr - Appointment was at 4:45pm, but didn't get seen until about 6:30pm. Took forever to be seen, but everything else was great! If I didn't have to wait so long, it would EASILY have been 5 out of 5 stars. Dr. Goel and his staff are amazing. Everyone was extremely nice and patient with me throughout the whole process. I made a reservation for a free consultation and it was decided I was a candidate (not sure why everyone wouldn't be a candidate). It took only about 10 minutes to be seen, which was great. I scheduled my appointment for 2 weeks later and was given a folder with information. On the day of the appointment, I arrived at 4:30 for my 4:45 appointment. I needed a driver, so I brought my wife and 2 year old daughter. There is a kids area in the back with toys and kids movies, which was a super plus. After about waiting for 45 minutes, I was called up to pay. I went with the 1 year free financing option through Care Credit. After that I went back to my seat. About 6:00pm I was called up to get ready. The nurse went over everything again, put drops in my eyes, and told me Dr. Goel would be with me soon. Dr Goel eventually came in and was extremely nice. We talked about my upcoming trip to Universal Studios and my concerns about the roller coasters and Lasik. I was taken into the operating room and I was instructed to lay down on the table. As the laser was "lasering(?)", it was uncomfortable, but it did not hurt. Dr. Goel let me know when each eye was half way done. He then slid me over to another machine that did something. He instructed me to expect my eyes would go grey, then black. After that, I was helped up and laid on another table. It was extremely hard to see (as the flaps were cut in my eyes). Dr. Goel then lifted the flaps, performed his magic, then put the flaps back on. This part was extremely uncomfortable, as you know what's going on. It didn't hurt, but it's just weird. It was all done in about 10 minutes. I was given glasses, told to go home and leave my eyes closed on the ride home. Because it was so late, I was instructed to go to bed for the night. My follow up appointment was the next day at 8:30am. I was able to drive myself, and my vision was great! Like, literally great. I could see!!! I arrived at my appointment and it was pretty busy. The nurse tested my eyes, and confirmed I could see 20/20. She then showed me what I could see before I had Lasik. I was 20/200 (or something like that before). It's been about 5 days since Lasik. I'm very happy I did it. While it was uncomfortable getting it, it's sooo worth it in the long run. The prescription drops for your eyes aren't really comfortable. It leaves a goop on my eyelashes, and it's hard to clean since I can't rub my eyes. read more

I went there based on reviews and it was not the service I was expecting from receptionist or front desk. I went there with my son and they were talking about me and my son behind my back. I am sorry if my toddler was walking around the room but he didn't break or ruin anything. They also didn't even let me see the doctor, not sure the reason( nobody explained). The main thing was Price. On the radio they said they have promotion so each eye is $250 and up depending on the eye, however there was no such fee, it was one flat rate for everyone. I had my PRK procedure for my birthday a year ago. Please note this review is for PRK- not Lasik. If I had to do it all over again, I would not. My eyesight is at 20/40 right now, but some days it seems much worse. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and my eyes hurt, and wonder if they are still healing. I have to use saline drops anywhere from six to ten times a day still. I'm just overall disappointed. Regarding the initial appointment, office staff, and office visits, all of that was nice enough. I had relatively bad astigmatism so it ended up being $1700 for both eyes all told. Dr. Goel was great. The surgery went smoothly, although I think they put the speculum open too wide on my right eye. It hurt/was a lot of pressure during and was really irritated right after the procedure. The days following were incredibly difficult. My eyes were so swollen and puffy, every time I opened them tears would come spilling out. They were incredibly painful and I'm no slouch, I had my wisdom teeth removed with local anesthetic and had one tylenol three as my child delivery pain management. For PRK, I had to take the max amount of medication recommended to get relief. I called the office several times and was given the brush-off by the office staff and Dr. K. "It's part of the normal healing process" I was told. I'm a nurse and I know for sure this was not normal. I asked for a different steroid eyedrop, and got told no. If I could do it all over again I would have insisted on a different eye drop protocol and would have used the technique of putting pressure on the tear duct to keep the steroids from going systemic. I gained 30 pounds after my procedure and had a terrible time with depression. Knowing how sensitive I am to medications, I'm almost certain it was triggered by the steroids. Aftercare left a lot to be desired. Every subsequent appointment (1 mo, 3 mo. etc.) Dr. K would draw the same kindergarten picture of epithelium on the cornea explaining the natural healing process. I could see this working to reassure people who didn't need it, but by month three I already knew my vision was never going to be great without corrective devices. At least before the procedure, with glasses I could get to 20/20 with clarity and crispness. Not so now. If you need your eyes for fine detail work or if you like to run and enjoy the trees and scenery on a nice fall day and have really bad astigmatism, I would skip the PRK and keep the coke bottles. read more

Best investment you can make in yourself... Got to admit I was very nervous the day I went in for my Lasik surgery. I wish I would have wrote a review years ago, but so far my reviews have been word-of-mouth recommendations. I had Lasik performed here in August 2004 by Dr. Sonny Goel. To this day, my vision has been fantastic (better than 20/20!). Dr. Goel was very nice and talked me through the entire procedure. I continually tell people thinking about having the procedure done that it will be the BEST financial decision of their life! My father got the procedure about a year after I did at the same place. My husband decided to get Lasik a month ago or so, and found that he had a discount through Aetna, putting the total cost at around $3650 after all is said and done, For the surgery he picked the location by doctor, picking Sony Goel. The office is well-run, and got him in and out quickly for consultation, surgery and follow up visits, while not feeling rushed. Office staff were all friendly. The day of surgery the entire visit took 45 minutes only. Later that night, he received two phone calls checking up on him, one personally by Dr. Goel later in the night. My experience getting LASIK here has been amazing. I got the LASIK procedure done in January 2016. The staff here at their Columbia location are awesome. They are friendly and professional. They made me feel very comfortable from the initial consult, through the procedure, and in the follow up appointments since. I walk into the office and am greeted by name and don't even have to sign in because they are ready for me. From the brief time I spend in the waiting room, it seems everyone gets this kind of VIP treatment! Dr. Goel was also really great in coaching me ahead of the procedure and during it. They're quick to get you in the door and get your surgery booked. Booking follow-up appointments after your first two (day after and the week following surgery) is difficult at best - availability is suddenly very limited and there is no place in the patient portal to show you available dates and times. This needs to be improved to better the customer experience. The procedure itself went well and was over in about 10 or 15 minutes. It's pretty freaky compared to what they say - you lose vision completely for a short time and the sensations, sounds, and smells are stomach-churning. That said, the staff were very friendly and took good care of me. It's been almost 3 months and I still have some halos that are only noticeable at night when driving against traffic, but otherwise my vision is nearly perfect and I have had no lasting side-effects! read more

My wife and I both scheduled our procedures for this facility. My surgery went great my vision I said clear and is supposed to get even more crisp. As far as that goes they did a great job based on how bad my eyesight was before. We are currently waiting on my wife to get called back. The only issue is that we checked in before 3 other customers and they seemed to have been seen before us. I asked about this and I was told they were behind. The reply was so quick it seemed prepared. I'm assuming she gave us that response because we had already been waiting an hour. As patient after patient goes by I starting to get frustrated and displeased. I later talked to someone and I was told they fell behind due to network issues.. being a Net Engineer I can understand the inconvenience. Don't let my inpatients keep you from coming to this location. I've been here 4 times and I just so happened to wrote I review now. The doctors are great the staff is great. read more

I was originally seen at LasikPlus Vision Center in Towson, MD, for my free consultation, two days earlier (see my review about LasikPlus Vision Center, Towson, MD). I had already received my CareCredit charge card too, after applying online at LasikPlus' website. This was the day of my LASIK procedure. Things did not move as fast as they did in Towson, during the free consultation. The office was extremely busy; it was a Thursday, early afternoon. I suspect they were performing free consultations in addition to the LASIK surgeries. I had to sign my final contract and some additional paperwork, provide my CareCredit card, and see the doctor again for him to do a final check of my eyesight. After this I waited to be called for the procedure. I was finally called by either a nurse or medical assistant, I'm not sure, but she reviewed the instructions for the two different eye drops (antibiotic and steroid) that I had filled at Walmart the previous night), gave me two Tylenol PM, and fitted me with a head cap, like you see before you go into surgery. She sent me back to the waiting room until the Tylenol PM started to take affect and to wait while they continued to perform procedures on other patients. Dr. Goel finally came out to meet me, took me into an exam room again, and checked my eyes again. He put some drops into my eyes and said they would put numbing drops into my eyes when I lay down for the procedure. He then took me into the room where the multiple lasers were located and introduced me to his two assistants. They asked me to lay down on the first padded table where the first laser is used to horizontally cut a flap on each eye that is folded down or up depending on how they cut it. It took less than a minute. They walked me over to the second laser and had me lay down on that padded table. The second laser is the one that destroys the corneal tissue and reshapes the eye. They manually fold the flap back prior to using the laser. During the laser it smelled like burning hair, but it only lasted less than a minute again. After the laser destroyed the tissue, the doctor sponged away the debris. It was like he was cleaning a window. I could see perfectly clear. I was totally amazed. He folded the flap back in place and put a couple of drops in my eyes, stood me up, shook my hand and congratulated me. I looked around and could see everything clearly. I had a really strong prescription in my right eye and a less strong prescription in my left eye, but now both eyes were symmetrical. He said that within 7-days my vision would become even more sharp than it already was. He did say that people over the age of 40 will most likely have to wear readers when using a laptop or iPad. They told me this at the free consultation, too. This really didn't matter to me since I was used to wearing glasses already. After 2-days of the surgery, I can tell you that I can tell that my vision is progressively getting more sharp as each day progresses. I would highly recommend LasikPlus Vision Center for corrective surgery to any who has ever contemplated getting LASIK. They are a complete laser center; no blades are used here. Dr. Goel is the best! I would also recommend watching the YouTube videos, especially the one where the procedure is performed; it's about 18-minutes long. It's fascinating. read more

Both my husband and I came in for our free consultation and was told we're both eligible for the procedure. My husband got his done almost 3 months ago, while mine was done 2 weeks ago. The entire staff, from the front desk, to the doctors, and surgeons were very professional and friendly. My son had Lasik surgery in 2017, and all went well. Three years later trying to get copies of the actual procedure for the military has been horrendous! He has been waiting since August 31st when he submitted the paperwork for records. Today he was told he "May" have them by November! Totally unacceptable! Went to another location prior and was told I wasn't a candidate for either PRK or LASIK. I was upset I went to LASIKPlus again to tell them my concerns and was checked out by Dr. Goel himself to my realization I was in fact a candidate for PRK. Dr. Goel answered all my questions regarding it and ICL (which I didn't need). Staff were always helpful for my concerns when I called in. I had PRK done on December 16, 2016. The surgery was a breeze In and out. Getting off the table was an instant gratification. I was seeing so clearly (due to the cornea being brushed off). I went home and slept it off. The healing process was not as bad as I imagined. It was more like an onion in the eye type of feeling the whole first 3 days. I pretty much healed up by the 4th day after surgery. DEC 21st UPDATE Just got back from my post op appointment December 21 2016. I was a -7.50 left eye and -8.50 in right eye (with contacts). Now seeing 20/40 in left eye and 20/70 in right eye and should improve with time! I highly recommend anybody considering PRK to Dr. Goel at the Columbia location. Thank you. JANUARY 2017 1 MONTH UPDATE: I am overall seeing fantastic compared to barely seeing peoples face up front over a month ago. The sharpness fluctuates time to time. Distant words and images are still not as sharp. This includes: blurriness and ghosting of letters/images. Night vision is improving. Halos and starbursts are diminishing with time. I was told this is normal for me since my prescription was so high. Dr. Goel gave me a six month period if I need an enhancement. However, I do not think I would need it. I have no dry eye symptoms at all (which I worried about). I actually had drier eyes when I wore contacts compared to now. I have faith my vision will improve to its max potential. read more

I was pretty hesitant to get lasik but I went in for the free consultation to see if I was a candidate. Turns out I was. I didn't take the decision lightly since I knew the risks involved. I was extremely nervous about the procedure but the staff patiently answered all my questions and negotiated a fair price for it. The procedure itself didn't take very long, maybe 5-10 minutes max. The recovery process still has a little bit of hazy and blurry vision in the first day or two, but I was seeing very clear not long after. I'm in my first week after the procedure and can see perfectly fine. My eyes are still healing and need lubricant drops and can get a little hazy when dry, which is normal. Your vision won't fully stabilize for a few months. My only advice would be is to consider your lifestyle before choosing which type of lasik you do. If you do jiu jitsu, boxing, wrestling, or any combat based sport you should consider PRK instead of intralase Lasik as you will not have a flap that could potentially open. Otherwise, my experience has been excellent. It's well worth the investment as glasses and contacts were a nightmare. read more

Great experience at the Columbia, MD center! Staff was wonderful with setting up my pre-op exam, helping with financial questions (for HSA/FSA), and then they were wonderful on the day of the procedure! I am so glad I had the Lasix procedure! I have followed the instructions closely with the eye drops medications and tear drops and my recovery is going well. I could already see better as soon as I sat up from the table and then it just keeps getting better! It is so fun to look around and notice new things that I can see clearly from a distance! I did have pain the evening of the procedure when I woke up from my nap, but I used the eye drops as instructed and the pain went away. Had some discomfort occasionally, but it was the same discomfort as if I were wearing contacts at the end of a long day. I love my new vision! (My only regret is not getting it a long time ago!). Side note - stick the tear drops in the fridge as it feels so nice to have the cold drop on the eye! read more

I originally had LASIK done in 2002, and recently needed a correction (they call it an "enhancement") as I was just at the legal limit for driving without corrective lenses. An enhancement to a LASIK operation is done as a PRK, which has a "incapacited" recovery time of a week (or more), during which time you are in significant pain and have little to no eyesight. But I did it anyway. The "lifetime enhancements" guarantee is a complete scam. They require a third-party dilated eye-exam before even agreeing to see you, then do ANOTHER eye-exam once they do that they charge $75 for. Then they require you to be seen by your original surgeon (which in my case was a nearly three hour drive each way, even though there was a clinic less than an hour from me). The prescription eye-drops and heavy-duty painkillers ran me another $200. And, for all that, one of my eyes STILL did not heal correctly. The operation destroyed my "up-close" eyesight in both eyes, requiring me to get magnifying glasses just to read small text, and my night-vision is nothing but light-spikes and fuzzy halos around any light source. All of this I explained to them in my multiple follow-up appointments after surgery. They said I should have another enhancement, and they still insisted on my going to the farther away clinic to be seen (and no weekend hours either). You can't drive yourself back from the operation either, so if you are lucky enough to have a family member or friend who CAN drive you to and from, they have to take off a day of work too. In the end, I asked that if they wouldn't handle the operation and treat me at the closer clinic, that I instead receive a copy of my medical records and at least a partial refund for my operation as I was going to need to find a doctor nearer to me to try and fix their mess. I have had a lasik consultation at 3 of the biggest competitors in the area and didn't feel comfortable enough to go through with the procedure. That was not the case for lasikPlus in Columbia! My friend recently had his procedure here and had nothing but good things to say. I Scheduled my consult appointment for Tuesday afternoon, and had the procedure Friday afternoon. My consult was just barely an hour from the time I walked in to when I walked out. I have waited at other places at least 2 hours and in one case 3 hours before I ended up just walking out. The procedure was quick and easy... immediately afterwards it was blurry, stung a little bit and was just uncomfortable. I went home, had a hard time falling asleep due to the watering of my eyes and discomfort. It was not unbearable however. Taking the initial drops was a little difficult as your eyes don't want to open right away, but by that evening I could see! They were sensitive and I wore the glasses Inside and out, as was instructed. I was completely okay to function the following day. My follow-up appointment was on the Monday following and I'm seeing 20/15!!! (Better than 20/20) Everyone is friendly and welcoming and I could not be happier so far with my progress! A friend referred us to LasikPlus in Columbia. My husband had his surgery months ago. We had such a pleasant experience. I had my surgery yesterday and drove myself to the follow up today. The surgery was quick. Dr. Goel and his staff dictated the process to me several times, so you know exactly what will happen during surgery. Dr. Goel maintains a calm, pleasant and encouraging voice during surgery when giving you instructions. Any nervousness I had was diminished by his guidance. Dr. Goel even called me before bed last night to check on me and to answer any questions. And finally THE STAFF! The staff make sure you have a pleasant experience as well. Had a great experience dealing with the team here. I felt comfortable. They are competent, friendly, professional, PATIENT, and efficient. I was hesitant to go to a "chain" eye center but they really impressed me. Dr. Goes is great but his staff is just as great. The receptionists especially, Lisa, I think (I'll double check. First of all...the entire staff is very nice, however, now I realize it is a huge "used car" lot. I was told I would only need cheap reading glasses like those found at CVS. I spend my day in front of a computer and was told I would still be able to see. So here I am, wearing these cheap readers because my Rx ones don't work anymore. These reader make me nauseous and my eyes hurt and are so tired. So ok, I have 20/20 vision...which means I can see far...so driving I can see far but not my GPS. I literally spend maybe 20 mins/day driving, hence w/o glasses. Worst money I ever spent...threw out the window! I should have read Consumer Reports FIRST since many people say the EXACT same thing. Seriously...scam. So mad that they didn't say "no, this will only help 1/3 of your vision so you shouldn't do it." Think twice and do research before spending thousands of dollars and STILL need RX glasses. I just went to the optometrist to get new Rx glasses...she said she never would have suggested the surgery since I already had mono vision naturally. So not only am I out $2000+ for a surgery that didn't do anything helpful for me, I now need to pay $400 for new lenses... read more
